CONFIDENTIAL THE POLICE Supplement B GAZETTE No. 33 FRIDAY, AUGUST 22. 1924 VOL XI. Convicts on Licence, Persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked * are Licence Holders and should produce their licences The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required, to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say vide Sec. 5, Sub- Sec. 1,7 & 21 Vict., Cap. 47. which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders C. R. No. 493- 12, b. 1887, 5ft. 5Jin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. hazel, scar rt. eyebrow and on throat. A builder ; native of Halstead. Sentenced at Essex Sess., 5- 4- 22, to 3 yrs. pen. for larceny ( 2 cases). Liberated on licence, 4- 7- 24, into the M. P. D. and Supervisees. Failed to notify his change of address. Pre. con. of larceny, false pretences and cycle- stealing. Known to police at HALSTEAD, HARWICH, WITH AM, IPSWICH. NORWICH, GREAT YARMOUTH, BURY ST. EDMUNDS, SUD- BURY, COLCHESTER and ROMFORD. May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place. C. R. O. 227.- * William Warner, alias William Simmonds, C. R. O. No. 1572- 02, b. 1881, 5ft. 4iin., c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue- grey, scar second and thin! 1. fingers, star, Hands across the Sea, I. L. D. W., etc., rt.. palm tree and snake 1. forearm, True Love to Susan, bracelet, etc., 1. wrist. A builder ; native of London. Sentenced at Middlesex Sess., 28- 7- 20, to 4 yrs. pen. and remanet of former sentence for receiving. Liberated on licence ( which expires 18- 5- 25), 14- 3- 24, into the M. P. D. Failed to make his monthly report at Southwark Pol. Sta. ( M), 14- 8- 24. 2 POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT C. Wednesday, July 23, 1924. Licence Holders and Supervisees— continued. Officer proving service of notice— Insp. Gore, Y. Officer proving identity— P. S. Lewington, C. I. D.- Y. Pre. con. of larceny, shopbreaking, receiving, housebreaking, burglary and minor offences. Known to pobce on E, F, N and Y. For portrait, etc., sec Case No. 16, Supple ment A ( Vol. VII.). Inf. to above office CITY OF LONDON. 228.—* William Jones, alias William Leslie Paul Jones, C. R. O. No. 2044- 11, b. 1872, 5ft, 6in., c. fresh, h. It. brown ( bald top), e. brown, scar top of head. A miner ; native of eath. Sentenced at Chester Ass., 24- 10- 21, to 3 yrs. pen. for false pretences. Liberated on licence, 24- 1- 24, to Folkestone. On 5- 8- 24 reported his intention to reside within the City of London but has not reported there. Pre. con. of larceny, false pretences and minor offences and subsequently of a minor offence. Known to police at ABERCARN, SWANSEA, ABERCYNON, MERTHYR, NEWPORT ( Mon.), PONTYPOOL, RIPON, HARROGATE, BLYTH, SOUTH SHIELDS, BISHOP AUCKLAND, STOKESLEY, RICHMOND ( Yorks.), YORK, DONCASTER, BARNSLEY, CHESTERFIELD, PONTYPRIDD, BLAENAVON, PORTH, ELLESMERE PORT and RAMSGATE. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 268, Supplement A ( Vol. VI.). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place.
