DEVONSHIRE. 9.— Exeter ( City).— For stealing £ 38 2s. 6d.- Frederick Charles Butcher, b. 1888, 5ft. llin., good build, c. ruddy, h. black, e. brown, clean shaven, good teeth, walks quickly ; dress, grey sports coat, brown trousers, grey cap, fawn raincoat, brown shoes with crepe soles ( nearly new), good appear- ance. Native of Nottingham. Was employed by the Hearts of Oak Society, and converted above sum to his own use from funds entrusted to him. Absconded 4th ult. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Exeter. DORSETSHIRE. 10.— Weymouth ( Co.).— For stealing £ 5.— Cyril Cook, b. 1894 to 1896, 5ft. 10in., slim build, h. dk., e. deep set, clean shaven, well spoken ; dress, dk. suit, It. Trilby hat with grey band, It. fawn rain- coat, shoes, carried black walking stick with silver knob. Stated a clerk ; native of Leicester. Made loser's acquaintance at an hotel, and they went boating together in separate boats. Loser handed Cook his jacket to look after, and on returning to the hotel later found that above amount was missing from his wallet. Cook has not been seen since. Frequents hotels and good- class boarding houses. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Miller, Weymouth. KENT. 15.— Folkestone ( Boro.).— For obtaining goods and money by false pretences ( worthless cheque), 22nd ult.— G. A. Gray or Gay, b. 1882, 6ft. 1 or 2in., medium build, h. turning grey ( bald on top) ; dress, dk. grey suit, Trilby hat, blue gabardine coat, brown boots. Called at confectioner's and ordered a quantity of Easter eggs and cigarettes valued 8s. Tendered cheque ( made out on a piece of ordinary paper) on Barclay's Bank, Milsom Street Branch, made payable to the shopkeeper, and signed G. A. Gray or Gay. This cheque has been returned from the Bank marked No Account. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. WARWICKSHIRE. 23.— Birmingham ( City).— For obtaining money by false pretences ( several cases).— George West, Private No. 5101803 Royal Warwickshire Regiment, b. 1904, 5ft. 7in., c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. grey; dress, uniform of Royal Warwicks. A deserter. Called on clergymen, stated he was on leave from his regiment, stationed at Chatham, and wished to return there, but had no money to do so. Asked for loan, and was usually handed about 30s. by many clergymen. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Birmingham. WORCESTERSHIRE. 24.— Halesowen ( Co.).— For fraud ( food and lodgings).— A Man who gave name of Turner, b. 1878 to 1884, 5ft. 6in., thin build, c. fair, h. sandy ( inclined to brown, bald at back and top), e. prominent, stoops ; dress, brown jacket and waistcoat, dk. striped trousers, dk. overcoat, brown cap. Stated a landscape gardener. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Walters, Halesowen. 25.— Stourbridge ( Co.).— For stealing ( dwelling) at Harvington, 2 pairs sheets, odd do., 3 nightdresses, pair combinations, 2 pairs divided skirts, brooch, neckchain and pendant. — Elizabeth Gertrude Tomkins, aliases Adkins, Brass, etc., b. 1874, 5ft. 0| in., slim build, h. dk. brown ( turning grey), e. blue, erect, turns toes inwards. While serving a sentence in Birmingham Prison met loser, and on being liberated, 2- 4- 24, called on loser's husband, stating that his wife had asked her to look after the house until her liberation. YORKSHIRE ( EAST RIDING). 26.— Hull ( City).— For stealing 4s., 19th ult.— Edward Cutler, alias Bramwell Watson, C. R. O. No. 8285- 15, b. 1895, 5ft. 4£ in., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. brown, scar rt. jaw and 1st 1. finger. A miner ; native of Leeds. Pre. con. of fraud and larceny at LEEDS, HULL, BATLEY and DEWSBURY. Met loser at Salvation Army meeting, stated he was sleeping in a motor lorry, and was superintending the discharge of sugar from a ship to motor lorries. Called at the house following day and asked for lodgings, remained until 19th ult., when he stated he was going to Leeds, and failed to return. It was afterwards found that he had taken the above amount from a box. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Hull. YORKSHIRE ( WEST RIDING). 27.— Leeds ( City).— For attempted fraud.— Amelia Caroline Walmsley Brough, b. 1900, 5ft. 4in., c. and h. fair, e. hazel; dress, grey costume and small hat. A servant. Making a false claim for £ 10 from a railway company, stated that her luggage had been stolen in transit from Leeds to Skipton. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. LANCASHIRE . 78.— Barrow- in- Furness ( Boro.).— 6th inst.— Body of A Woman, found on the North West Shore of the Isle of Walney, b. 1894 to 1904, length 5ft. 5 or 6in., well built ; dress, saxe blue coat frock ( red material at front of neck, coat trimmed red stitching, belt and blue bone buttons), navy blue cotton underskirt ( narrow white stripe), natural grej' combinations, nigger brown ribbed stockings, brown lace brogue shoes ( closed fronts have been soled and heeled, soles stitched on), brown suede or kid gloves with two brass fasteners on each glove and the word Dent's on each fastener, wearing in neck of coat frock a 9ct. brooch, about 2 fin. long, composed of a military cap with a fuse badge mounted on a soldier's cane. The body is much decomposed and is unrecognizable. It appears to have been in the water several weeks. At an inquest held, verdict of Found Drowned was returned. Inf. to the C.
