Believed to have been a medical student. Represented himself to be a medical practitioner and claimed acquaintance with loser, obtained tho money stating he was short of ready cash, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. DERBYSHIRE. 4.— Renishaw ( Co.).— For stealing ( lodgings) linen ( recovered), at Eckington, 24th ult.— Annie Betteridge, b. 1878, 4ft. 6in., h. ( frizzy in front) brown, blue mark lower lip ; dress, black costume, silk blouse, blue velvet hat, brown stockings, shoes, carried fawn raincoat. May be accompanied by John Thomas Betteridge ( not wanted), b. 1878, 5ft., h. dk., clean shaven, bow legged ; dress, brown suit, dk. grey cap. A collier. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Andrew, Renishaw. 2.— Z Division.— For carnal knowledge of girl under 16 yrs.— Albert Edward Yeoell, b. 1894, 5ft. 7 or 8in., medium build, h. fair, e. blue, clean shaven, upright, sometimes limps, Yeoell tattooed several times each arm ; dross, dk. grey coat and vest, bluo serge trousers, black overcoat, blue muffler, grey Army shirt, grey check cap, boots. Warrant ishued. Inf. to C. R. O. DORSET. 5.— Poole ( Co.).— For leaving his wife and children chargeable to the Union.— Robert Saunders, b. 1883, 5ft. 10 or llin., well built, h. It. brown ( turning grey), e. blue, fair moustache, pug nose, lost top 4th 1. finger. A labourer. Absconded 17th July last. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Sprackling, Poole. CHESHIRE. 3.— Middlewich ( Co.).— For embezzlement at Sandbach, 3rd May, 1923.— J. R. Williams, b. 1885, 5ft. 6 or 7in., c. pale, clean shaven, fairly high cheek bones, walks quickly ; dress, ( usually) navy bluo suit, trilby hat. Was employed as traveller by a Manchester firm of drapers, collected accounts and embezzled the proceeds. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Cash, Middlewich. 6.— Poole ( Co.).— For leaving his wife and two children chargeable to the Union.— Henry James Beck, b. 1882, 5ft. 6in., well built, h. dk. e. grey, clean shaven. A general labourer. Absconded 22nd January, 1921 in company with a woman named Mrs. Davis. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. DUMFRIESSHIRE. 8.— Dumfries ( Co.).— For stealing, 24th ult., 6 £ 5 British Linen Bank notes.— William Jackson Love, b. 1900, 5ft. 6 or 7in., ordinary build, h. dk., e. dk., clean shaven, thin face, 4 teeth upper jaw gold filled and very prominent ; dress, blue suit, soft white collar, grey striped tie, grey cap, light waterproof coat, brown shoes. Was raiding with his father and took the notes from a drawer during his father's temporary absence, and absconded. Proceeded by train to Carlisle. KENT. 11.— Chatham ( Co.).— For stealing ( lodgings), 27th ult., dk. brown purse, with 4 compartments ; grey suede do. ; photo of 4 soldiers in running kit; 2 do. of soldiers ( 1 head and shoulders) ; 1 do., man and girl kissing; and £ 3 15s. 6d. ; also for obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— Doris Carter, b. 1894, 5ft. 6 or 7in., thin build, e. and h. dk. ; dress, dk. brown coat frock ( trimmed bronze beads), black satin picture hat ( flowers front of brim), bluish brown mixture coat ( old), 4 buttons missing from pleats at back, wore wedd- ing ring, dress ring with blue stones ( 1 missing), string of pearls, and gold chain with mother- of- pearl crucifix attached. Stated she was wife of petty officer, H. M. S. Ramillies, and drew her allowances at local post office. Said she had come from Scotland, and that her luggage would follow ( false). Absconded 27th ult. Inf. to Supt. Paramour, Chatham. LANCASHIRE. 12.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining £ 2 by false pretences.— A Man, who gave name of J. Davies, b. 1883 to 1888, 5ft. 8 or 9in., broad build, c. ruddy, h. dk., e. brown, It. brown mous- tache, large nose ; dress, blue suit, bowler hat, collar and tie. Told loser he was agent for a firm of paper manufacturers in Bury. Gave order for 15 tons of paper to be delivered to firms in Bury. Returned about an hour later, stated he had lost his purse, and asked for loan of £ 2. His story was subsequently found to be false. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. HAMPSHIRE. 10.— Portsmouth ( Boro.).— For obtaining £ 6 by false pretences, between 9th and 15th August.— A Man, b. 1873 to 1878, 5ft, 2in., c. fresh, h. ( rather large) blue, Scotch accent; dress, navy blue costume, 0 13.— Manchester ( City).— For stealing ( bailee), 25th May last, 3 carpets.— James Thomas Midgeley, b. 1863, ( looks younger), 5ft. lOin., stout build, c. fresh, h. turning grey, e. blue, clean shaven, full face ; dress, usually Harris tweed suit, large soft hat ( Mexican style), respectable appearance. No felony. 41.— Seaforth ( Co.).— 25th ult., from garage.— Two brass electric side lamps for motor car, small disc on each lamp with maker's name Smith, M.
