Topham, b. 1895, 5ft. 8in., slim build, h. brown, e. grey, clean shaven, slouching gait, West Country accent; dress, navy blue suit, blue jersey, grey cap, brown boots. A seaman. Induced loser to cash advance note payable by the McAndrews Shipping Company, as he was sailing on the s. s. ' Cano ' that evening ( false). Enquiries were made and the note found to be worthless. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. DERBYSHIRE. 2.- Derby ( Boro.).— For obtaining 5s. 6d. by false pretences.— J. Maxwell, b. 1898, 5ft. 6 or 7in., medium build, c. fresh, clean shaven ; dress, blue suit, It. trilby hat. Calls on householders in good class localities, and after ascertaining name of tenant, asks for the occupier and if told she is out represents himself as clerk from the Training Factory for ex- service man, and that he has been sent by Major Saunders with parcel of writing pads which he states have been ordered, and obtains payment for same. Appears identical with J. Mackintosh, Case No. 122, 5- 9- 23. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Derby. DEVONSHIRE. 3.— Barnstaple ( Co.).— A. G. Mumford, Case No. 3, 19- 9- 23, is identical with Arthur George Mumford, C. R. O. No. 19650- 22, b. 1888, 5ft. ljin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. brown, clean shaven. A traveller ; native of Torquay. Pre. con. of fraud at NEWTON ABBOTT and HEREFORD. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Shutler, Barnstaple. HAMPSHIRE. 4.— Eastleigh ( Co.).— For housebreaking ( removing zinc from larder window) at Chilworth, 17th inst., and stealing gent's It. brown tweed suit, faint red stripes, fit a man 5ft. 8 or 9in. ; 2 striped flannel shirts ( 1 blue and white, other mauve and white), both marked Tyrell and Green ; 7s. in threepenny pieces ; sovereign and a King George III. half crown, 104 years old.— A Man, b. about 1895, 5ft. 7in., c. and h. fair, clean shaven, 3 teeth missing lower jaw, talkative, Devonshire accent; dress, It. brown tweed suit, collar, tie, cap, believed brown boots, respectable appearance. Called at a public house at Winchester where he tendered 14 threepenny pieces and had others in his possession, together with the sovereign, and the George III. half crown. Left behind a blue dungaree coat and overalls, and striped cotton shirt. Inf. to Supt. Deacon, Eastleigh. C., Manchester. \ SOMERSETSHIRE. 8.— Weston- super- Mare ( Co.).— For stealing handbag ; lady's gold pocket watch ; 2 pairs lady's suede gloves ( 1 grey, 1 cream) ; lady's beaded handbag ; gold medal, engraved ; 3 necklaces ; and £ 2 16s.— Daisy Evans, alias Maud Evans, b. 1888 to 1893, 5ft. 7 or 8in., good build, c. very fresh, h. dk., large bust, flat footed ; dress, long blue gabardine coat ( trimmed black braid, large sleeves), crushed strawberry close fitting hat, black silk stockings, shoes. Was employed as servant at boarding house, and not being satisfactory, was discharged. Left the premises and took her belongings, but returned during absence of occupier, told servant she wanted to fetch her coat, and after she had gone the property was missed from a boarder's bedroom.
