The Charity Commissioners have determined that the Guild of Officers ( General Secretary :— Major L. S. Norman Palmer) is a War Charity under the above Act and audited accounts have been called for. The Guild has not been registered as a War Charity, therefore no appeal to the public for donations or subscriptions can be made. The Guild purports to assist Ex- Service officers by creating employment by means of Clock Stands in public places. The Guild agreed to give a percentage of its collections to the Travellers Clock Bureau Syndicate and to the International Disabled Soldiers and Sailors Workshops, Institutions with which Henry Dunsford, of 104, High Holborn, W. C. and 1, Southampton Row, W. C., is associated. Dunsford is referred to in P. G. ( Special Notices), 14- 9- 21 and 23- 11- 21. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. Stated ship's steward ; native of believed Birmingham. In possession of motor driver's licence in above name, issued at Ashton- under- Lyne. Inf. to the C. C., Chester. 5.— Runcorn ( Co.).— For obtaining money by false pretences between 10th and 20th March, 1923.— John Huntley, b. about 1881, 5ft. 5Jin., thin build, c. fresh, h. and moustache It. ; dress, brown pin stripe suit, dk. brown overcoat with half belt, It. trilby hat. Represents himself as an architect and surveyor, writes to builders and contractors asking them to tender for erection of a large residence, stating that drawings and quantities will be issued on deposit of £ 4 4s. Loser sent this amount but received no reply. Accompanied by his wife ( not wanted), b. a bout 1881, 5ft. 3 or 4in., thin build, c. pale, h. It., very delicate ; dress, fawn jumper, fawn skirt with dk. check, and two girls about 14 and 8 years of age. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Hayward, Runcorn. ESSEX. 7. - Clacton- on- Sea ( Co.).— For stealing brown leather attache- case and silver hair brush.— William Elliott, b. 1882, 5ft. 2 or 3in., thin build, h. sandy, very heavy eyebrows, small fair moustache, slight mark centre of chin, small dent in side of face near eyes, wore rimless pince- nez, tattoo back hands, London accent; dress, It. overcoat, blue serge jacket, dk. tweed breeches, black leggings and boots. Also in possession of navy blue and dk. grey suits, and pair brown shoes. A decorator. Has been employed as cinema manager and is supposed to have had drapery business at one time in Belfast. HERTFORDSHIRE. 9.— Watford ( Co.).— For shopbreaking and stealing property, Case No. 71, 30- 5- 23.— Arthur Jones, b. about 1895, 5ft. 3 or 4in., c. fresh, clean shaven, sharp features ; dress, grey suit, and cap, boots ( all new), or blue serge suit and grey trilby hat, carried blue overcoat with ' velvet collar. BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. 95.— Bletchley ( Co.).— For stealing from factory, at Olney, 30th ult., 2 pairs gent's glace kid boots, size 8, Goodyear welted, cellular lining, suede top band inside, black facings inside, 5 eyelets and 3 hooks, punched toecaps, 8- 961- 32 marked inside, Made on Hand Sewn Principle, Wear Guaranteed, stamped on sole.- A Man known as Scottie, li. 1873, 5ft. 3 or 4in., h. and moustache dk. ( turning grey); dress, dk. brown mixture suit and cap, brown boots, shabby appearance. Visited factory and asked permission to make collection from employees, which was refused ; afterwards entered a room of the factory and stole the above property Sings and performs acrobatic tricks in public houses, and may be found staying at common lodging bouses. Obtained lodgings, represented himself as a travelling photographer, and answered advertisements in Amateur Photo- grapher offering cameras, etc., for sale. Re- quested advertisers to forward goods on approval, and absconded. Used notepaper with address, and Bankers— Barclay's, Ltd., printed thereon. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Bristol. Dean, b. about 1873, 5ft. 6in., c. fair, slight brown moustache ; dress, fawn overcoat and trilby hat, respectable appearance. Called on shop- keejK- r, presented card describing himself as Herbal Cigarette Manufacturer, Alfreton Road, Nottingham ( false), and asked himjto become his agent. Promised to supply loser with list of local customers; also promised, to pay'him 7s. monthly for acting as agent, and Cast a further inducement offered to supply Woodbine cigarettes KENT. 99 — Margate ( Boro.).— For stealing, 5th inst., leather suit- case ; 2 shirts ; 3 ties ; and ( i hand kerchiefs- Frederick Thurston, alias Jarvis, 5ft. 3in., medium build, c., h. and e. dk., good looking. A kitchen porter. Shared room with loser at hotel where he was employed, absconded with the property, leaving a note saying that he had borrowed and would return't. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. Caistor ( Co.).— For absconding with work- house clothing, 6th inst.— Richard Higgins, b. about 1874, 5ft. 9in., c. red, h. inclined to ginger, shaggy moustache; dress, greenish overcoat, grey mixture coat and vest, dk. brown cord trousers, dk. cap, worsted stockings, boots ( coa, t, vest and trousers marked Caistor Union).
