Holyhead ( Co.).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.- William Williams, I), about 1890, 5ft. 8 or 9in., slender build, c. sallow, h. brown, e. dk. brown ( weak), round shouldered ; dress, blue serge suit, grey mixture cap, fawn Raglan overcoat, soft white collar, black tie, boots. A chauffeur; native of ( believed) Knighton. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt, Fair, Holyhead. ( small) brown, e. blue ; dress, British warm coat, dk. grey jacket, blue waistcoat, khaki trousers, dirty white scarf, old boots. A sign writer.— Hilda May Coulter, b. 1896, 4ft. 9in„ c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue ( cast 1.) ; dress, dirty green f- length coat, black tam- o'- shanter. Travel the country with 2- wheel cart, dirty green colour, drawn by old roan- grev pony, and accompanied by two children ( twins)— one a cripple. Makes paper windmills which he gives in exchange for jam jars, etc Warrants issued. Inf. to Supt. Fowle, Sevenoaks. CHESHIRE. 121. Oakmere ( Co.).— For h(> usebreaking ( window insecure) and stealing at Tarvin, 16th inst., gent's blue double- breasted overcoat, black lined, fixed belt at back, top and 2 side pockets, Stewarts on tab ; lady's bicycle, black enamelled, 26in. frame, 28in. wheels, bright upturned handle- bars with black grips, new Dunlop tyre back wheel, black celluloid gear- case, Bowden brakes, rubber pedals, bell, no pump or tool bag ; and tO 15s. Fred Jackson, k I! » ( » « , 5ft. 2in., slim build, e. sallow, h. brown, cast in one eye, turns knees inward, broad Ijiincashire accent; dress, brownish coloured suit, grey cap.. A farm labourer ; native of Middleton. Inf. to Supt. Mighall, Oakmere. MONMOUTHSHIRE . 124.— Risca ( Co.).— For embezzling £ 252 2s. 6d.— Edgar Swanston, b. 1868, 5ft. 10in., proportionate build, c. fresh, h. ( bald top) grey, sandy moustache ( turning grey), prominent nose and chin, false teeth upper jaw ( one missing 1. side) and several front bottom jaw, well educated, very plausible ; dress, navy blue serge suit, brown nap overcoat, It. grey cap, collar, tie, boots. Had in his possession : large portmanteau, E. S. S. in black thereon ; and a patent leather suit- case. Was employed as secretary of Newport Golf Club. May endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Richards, Risca. HAMPSHIRE. 122. Southampton ( Boro.).— For obtaining goods and money by false pretences ( worthless cheque). P. K. Ponting, b. 1893 to 1898, about 5ft. Win., o., h. and e. dk., clean shaven, round face, well|[ spoken ; dress, dk. overcoat, brown trilbyjhat. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Southampton. KENT. 123. Sevenoaks ( Co.).— For offence under Childrens Act— allowing a child aged 9 yrs. 9 mos. to wander abroad for the purpose of inducing the giving of alms.— Alfred Thompson, 1^ b. 1890, 5ft. 2fin., c, sallow, h. ( bald top) fcand moustache NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. 125.— Nottingham ( City).— For stealing gent's bicycle ( recovered), 9th inst.- Fred Bolton, aliases Fred Burt and Professor Bertini, b. 1868 to 1873, 5ft. 9in., medium build, c. fresh, h. ( curly) dk. brown ( turning grey, bald on top), e. blue, clean shaven, thick brown eyebrows, straight forehead, large broad nose, large mouth and chin, discoloured teeth ( 2 missing), long face, square shoulders, holds head forward when walking, very plausible, tattoo marks on forearm, wears pince- nez or spectacles ; dress, dk. grey jacket and vest, blue pin stripe trousers, shabby fawn raincoat, dirty grey trilby hat, Plays and sings in public houses. Inf. to the C. C.. Nottingham. 126 — Nottingham ( City).— For larceny ( trick).— A Man, b. 1883 to 1888, 5ft. 6 or 7in., slim build, c. sallow, h. fair, ginger moustache, long thin face ; dress, dk. brown suit ( shabby), soft collar, tie, old 16 THE POLICE GAZETTE. Purchased several bottles of beer at off licence shop and tendered postal order in payment, which, on examination, was found to have been altered from Is. to 9s., by the addition of parts of a sixpenny order. Received the beer and 6s. 8d. in chango. ftif. to the C. C., Nottingham. 127.— Nottingham ( City).— For stealing gent's bicycle ( recovered),— A Man who gave name of Bert Gee, b. about 1888, 5ft. 9 or 10in., medium build, c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue, clean shaven ; dress, fawn raincoat, grey trilby hat, collar and tie, brown boots. Stole the cycle from outside a shop and disposed of it to a pawnbroker. Inf. to the C. C., Nottingham. STAFFORDSHIRE . 128 - Burton- on- Trent ( Co.).— For * stealing ( trick) 5th inst., gent's demi- hunter watch, gold tilled case, English Lever on movement, keyless wind, No. 338378, twenty years guarantee. - W. Anderton ( believed false), b* 1863, 5ft. 7in., medium build, h. and moustache grey, e. blue, very plausible ; dress, fawn coloured raincoat, brown trilby hat, respectable appearance. Called on a jeweller and asked to see some watches, saying he required one for a birthday present. Selected gold watch and said he had not sufficient money with him to pay for it, but that he would be in the town again on 7th inst. and would call and pay for same. In the course of conversation told loser he resided at Holmwood, Trent ( false), and that he purchased a gold watch from him about three years ago. Upon this statement he was allowed to take the watch away as loser thought that he recognised him as a previous customer. Inf. to Supt. Heath, Burton- on- Trent. 129.- Stone ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 3 by false pretences, at Ashley, 13th ult.- Thomas Moss, C. R. O. No. S/ 120675, b. 1886, 5ft. 2in., c. fresh, h. sandy, e. grey, ballet girl, Ciss and star 1., memorial rt. forearm. Native of Blackburn. Pre. con. . of embezzlement, fraud, larceny and bigamy at BLACKBURN, BURY, LUTON, BURNLEY, SKIFION, WIGAN,% BOLTON and MAN- CHESTER. Induced loser to cash cheque for £ 3 on Yorkshire Penny Bank, Rochdale, and cheque has since beey returned for further signature as the account is ii joint one. Has been carrying on business in partnership with a Mr. Chapman ( not wanted) as slaters and property repairers. Moss obtained cheque book from bank on joint account and absconded 28th February, taking cheque book with him. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt, Turner, Stone. YORKSHIRE ( EAST RIDINO). 130.— Hull ( City).— For stealing £ 250, 13th inst. — Isaac Finn, aliases Marcus and Margus, C. R. O. No. M/ 6937 ( no pre. con. traced), Case No. 132, 21- 3- 23, b. 1872, 5ft. 7in., stout build, c. fresh, h. dk., clipped moustache ( waxed at ends), dis- eased upper lip, short finger nails ; dress, blue serge suit, dk. grey overcoat, grey trilby hat, boots, carried umbrella and parcel containing Army shirt and pair of trousers. A Russian Jew. Registration certificate No. 24529, Serial No. H. Z. No. 1952.— A Man, b. about 1878, 5ft. 4 or 5in., stout build, c. fresh, h. dk., clean shaven, gold tooth 1. side bottom jaw ; dress, dk. overcoat, black felt hat, boots. Stated he was a dealer in Army surplus stock, shirts, etc., and came from Manchester. Appears identical with Berman, Case No. 132, 21- 3- 23. On 11th inst. Finn called on loser, stating he was employed by a Manchester firm dealing in surplus Army clothing, and offered 5300 shirts at £ 9 10s. per 100 and 200 pairs of trousers at 2s. 6d. per pair. Loser said he could not take the lot but would purchase half, when Finn then offered to put £ 200 towards purchase and be a partner in the deal, to which loser agreed. Finn then left the shop and returned following day, when he produced some bank notes and was accompanied by the second man. Both men called again 13th inst., when Finn handed what appeared to be £ 200 to the second man, and loser also gave £ 250 to the latter, both of which he placed in an envelope and sealed with sealing wax and handed to loser. The goods were promised for delivery by motor lorry the following day, but as they did not arrive by the 16th inst., loser opened the envelope and found that it contained a quantity of toilet paper. Warrants issued. Inf. to the C. C., Hull.
