LANCASHIRE. 8.— Bootle ( Boro.).— For stealing ( trick) gent's gold English keyless f- plate lever hunter chronometer balance watch, Russell make, No. 194821 ; and gent's gold albert, double curb pattern, with 1915 half- sovereign attached.— Herbert Inkerman Eastham, b. 1896, 5ft. 3 or 4in., medium build, c. dk. ( ruddy), h. dk., e. blue ; dress, blue serge suit, soft collar, tie, dk. grey cap. Sent boy to loser's house purporting to have been sent by loser with instructions to give bearer watch and chain. After bearer had left with articles he was followed by loser's daughter who later saw tho accused with parcel. She demanded the parcel back and he handed it to her and when asked for above described property, accused told her it was inside parcel ( false). j[ Has worked as fireman at tar works, has also been fireman in Royal Navy. May be found at seaport towns. Inf. to the C. C., Bootle. 9.— Liverpool ( City).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 1, 29th ult.— Man who gave name of Rev. J. Wood, b. 1878 to 1883, 5ft. 6 or 7in., medium build, c. sallow, clean shaven; dress, dk. grey suit, white stiff collar, striped tie, black trilby hat, black boots, shabby appearance. Called at hospital and posed as visiting clergyman. Loser requested accused to obtain change of £ 1 ; he was given note and failed to return. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. 10.— Manchester ( City).— For stealing ( dwelling) 7th inst., a cash- box and 4 £ 1 Treasury notes.— Rose Ashdown, b. 1900, 5ft. 3in., very stout, c. fresh, h. black ( short), e. dk. brown, round face, snub nose, good teeth, burn scar on face ; dress, brown dress with white stripe ( well worn under arms), long saxe blue coat ( black buttons and tie over belt), grey straw hat with high crown and small brim, white crochet scarf, grey gauntlet gloves, black stockings, black low heeled shoes. Was employed as a maid and was sent by her mistress on a message and failed to return, and the property belonging to one of her fellow servants' was missed. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. Called on Catholic priest, stated he was staying at Victoria Hotel ( L.), that he was brother of the Father General Brocken, that his wallet had been stolen and that he was in arrears at hotel.
