CONFIDENTIAL Supplement B THE POLICE GAZETTE No. 9. FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 1923. VOL X. Convicts on Licence, Persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon bv a Magistrale or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry hii licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say vidt Sec. 5, Sub- Sec. I, 7& 21 Vict., Cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some- reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees. C. R. O. 48.— * David William Taylor, alias Henry Smith, C. R. O. No. 325- 02, b. 1880, 5ft. 3in., c. sallow, h. dk. brown, e. hazel, scar on each side face, under rt. ear, chin, corner rt.. eye, 1. eyebrow, palm of both hands and 1. forearm. A smith and fitter ; native of Birmingham. Sentenced at Birmingham Sess., 3- 10- 17, to 3 yrs. pen. ( remanet of former sentence), for burglary. Liberated on 2nd licence ( which expires 17- 4- 23), 16- 2- 23, into the M. P. D. Reported atfc . R. O., on release, his intention of proceeding to Birmingham, but failed to report there or anywhere else. Officer proving service of notice, P. S. Reed, C: R. O. Pre. con. of larceny, cyclestealing, warehouse- breaking, possessing housebreaking implements, burglary, wounding with intent to murder, assault with intent to rob, and minor offences and sub- sequently of a minor offence. Known to police at BIRMINGHAM, WAR- WICK, MILVERTON, SPARK HILL and KINGS HEATH. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 157 ( Vol. VIII.). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place. C. R. O. 49.—* John Spencer, aliases John Brown and James Brown, C. R. O. No. 1597- 12, b. 1873, 5ft. 9in., c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. grey, clasped hands, pierced heart rt. forearm, several scars back rt. hand. A fireman ; native of Liverpool. Sentenced at Middlesex Sess., 5- 7- 19, to 3 yrs. pen. for housebreaking. Liberated on 2nd licence ( which expires 15- 3- 23), 5- 1- 23, into the M. P. D. Failed to report at Kennington Lane Pol. Sta. ( L.), 5- 2- 23. Pre. con. of housebreaking and a minor offence and subsequently of a minor offence and failing to notify change of residence. Known to police at DARTFORD, WAKE- FIELD, CHATHAM, SHEFFIELD and on J, andT. Officer proving service of notice, P. S. Lloyd, C. R. O. Officer proving identity, P. S. Hood, C. I. D.- T. A cook and baker ; native of Bromsgrove. Sentenced at Warwick Ass., 8- 11- 17, to 4 yrs. pen. for shopbreaking. Liberated on 2nd licence ( which expires 9- 4- 23), 11- 1- 23, to Birmingham. Failed to notify his change of address. Pre. con. of horsestealing, warehouse breaking, shopbreaking and minor offences and subsequently of burglary. No. 459- 16, b. 1845, 5ft. 4$ im, c. fair, h. dk. brown ( turning grey and thin on top), e. grey, brown mole below rt. eye, V- shaped scar top of forehead, 2 flags and bracelet rt., face, bust of woman and laurels 1. forearm, anchor base rt. thumb. A linen draper ; native of says Maidstone and Boston, U. S. A. Sentenced at Lancaster Qr. Sess., 18- 10- 20, to 3 yrs. pen. for larceny. Liberated on licence, 18- 1- 23, to Preston. Failed to report. Pre. con. of false pretences, larceny and fraudu- lent conversion. Known to police at CARNARVON, WAR- RINGTON, DEVONPORT, BRISTOL, DUM- FRIES, BOOTLE, LEEDS, PORTSMOUTH, BARROW- IN- FURNESS and on N. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 426, Supplement A ( Vol. VI.). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place. Persons Licensed a Borstal Institution. PRISON COMMISSIONERS FOR SCOTLAND. EDINBURGH. 52.— For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence,"" which has been revoked.— James McGregor, C. R. O. No. 3708- 23, b. 1903, 5ft. Oiin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. brown ( cast in 1.). Sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Ct., 31- 12- 19, to 3 yrs. detention in a B. I. for theft by house- breaking. Liberated on licence, 28- 10- 22, to Glasgow. Absconded from his approved address, 13- 1- 23. Pre. con. of theft by housebreaking. Known to police at GLASGOW. Inf. to Prison Commissioners for Scotland, Edinburgh. Friday, March 2, 1923. POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT B. 3 Apprehensions. \ 53.— Harold Seymour, C. R. O. No. 6( 50- 14, Case Pol. Ct., 27- 2- 23, to 2 mos. impt. for failing to No. 34 ( Vol. X.), was sentenced at North London notify his change of address. Memorandum. Charles Woodman, C. R. O. No. 1941- 07, Case George Richardson, C. R. O. No. 1219- 08, No. 188 ( Vol. IX.). Warrant issued. Original Case No. 40 ( Vol. X.). Licence does not expire notice should he amended accordingly. until 8- 1- 24 on account of reinanet of former sentence. Original notice should be amended accordingly.
