LANCASHIRE. 7.— Burnley ( Boro.).— For obtaining Corona portable typewriter, No. 3 model, No. 485885 ( in white under machino), by false pretences, 16th inst.— H. F. Hughes, b. 1893, 5ft. 7 or 8in., medium build, c. ruddy ( blotchy), h. and moustache ( small) dk. ; dress, fawn raincoat, navy blue suit, fawn velour hat, soft white collar, black and red striped knitted tie. Called on loser— a dealer in typewriters— and represented himself to be sales manager for firm of White, Dudley & Co., Merchants and General Dealers, St. John's Cham- bers, Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham, that he was opening up a branch business and wanted some office furniture and typewriters. He produced memos, with above firm's name and address thereon and wrote down the articles he would require. He also stated that a lady was calling upon him to bo tested as to her ability with a typewriter ( false), and upon this pretence was allowed to take machine away. Identical with H. J. Hughes, Case No. 81, 4- 12- 22. Warrant issued. Inf. to thoC. C., Burnley. 8.— Widnes ( Co.).— Case No. 88, 22- 5- 22, cancelled. Francis Joseph Morris, not now wanted. Warrant withdrawn. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. 9.— Nottingham ( Co.).— For obtaining quantity of potatoes, at Arnold, between 2nd and 5th inst. — Mr. Loakes, b. 1891, 5ft. 7 or 8in., slim build, c. fresh, h. dk., e. brown, clean shaven, very plausible ; dress, blue nap overcoat with velvet collar, fawn coloured trilby hat, soft collar, tie, tony red shoes. Called on loser and represented that he was son of a director of Buckell & Co., Potato Merchants, Nottingham, and was autho- rised to buy on their behalf.
