( inclined to curly), pointed features ; dress, It. coloured mackintosh, black hat, reindeer skin gloves. Called at a jeweller's, stated she was the wife of a local solicitor, said her husband wished to make her a present of a watch on her birthday, and asked to be allowed to take one home for his inspection. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE . 10.— Nottingham ( City).— For stealing ( trick) from post office, 11th inst., quantity of Unemploy- ment and Health Insurance stamps.— A Man, b. about 1897, 5ft. 4in., medium build, c. pale, clean shaven, . prominent nose, wore glasses ; dress, black jacket, bowler hat, respectable appearance. Entered post office and handed assistant written order for 200 Unemployment stamps and 92 Health Insurance stamps, placed 3s. lOd. on the counter and was handed the stamps ; also handed assistant an envelope and left the shop. The envelope was afterwards found to contain 12 pieces blank notepaper. Inf. to the C. C., Nottingham. YORKSHIRE ( WEST RIDING). 11.— Halifax ( Boro.).— For obtaining £ 1 lfls. 1 Id. by false pretences.- George Williams, alias Percy Williams, b. 1883, 5ft. 7 or 8in., stout build, h. brown ( thin on top), clean shaven, well spoken, smart appearance. Accompanied by a woman named Madge ( not wanted), b. 1892, 5ft. 4in., slim build, h. and e. dk., smartly dresed. FaLsely represented himself to be agent for Localiser, Ltd. ( L.)— E Division case— till 18th inst., charged with uttering forged orders and obtaining money thereby. Represented himself as secretary to W. Eaden Lilley & Co.. Ltd., Cambridge, and stated he was in London to purchase motor lorries on their behalf. After inspecting lorries and obtaining specification of the design of bodies, gave orders to different firms, in one case to extent of £ 3000, on bill heads bearing the name of W. Eaden Lilley & Co., Ltd., purporting to be signed W. E. Lilley, Director ( false). Subse- quently called back and stated he was short of ready cash and asked for loan. In another case said he had bought a motor car and had not sufficient money to pay for it.— Edwin Frederick Bodenhani, aliases John Catesby and Potter, C. R. O.
