KENT. 3.— Ramsgate ( Boro.).— For stealing from hotel, 18th inst., a stamped leather jewel- case, about 6in. x 4in., containing gold neckchain, about Jin. wide, with heart shape pendant, coral centre, hook on back for drop ; gold lace brooch, set single turquoise ; several small charms ( silver jug, boot, 1 with Canterbury civic arms thereon) ; 2 gold cap pins, about 4in. long, filigree tops ; small gold bracelet, head of fox and piece of flat gold alternate ; set gold studs, grey and black enamel fronts ; set 3 gold studs, ruby set in each, in case ; set plain gold studs, flat fronts ; pair gold links, shape single link of cable chain ; pair gold links, made of Japanese coins ; pair gold links, oval, plain centres, frosted edges; small grey and blue Chinese box, blue lining, containing masonic charm made as brooch with drop ; gold half- hoop ring, set 3 opals, small diamonds between ; gold dress ring, set diamond and 2 sapphires ( believed gipsy set) ; do., believed claw set; and £ 3.— A Man who gave hame of Captain Power, b. about 1892, short, slight build, c. pale, h. dk. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT— continued. LANCASHIRE. 5.— Liverpool ( City).— For steabng ( trick), between 26th and 29th August, gent's old lever watch, silver, open face, white dial, black fingers, keywind ; silver curb chain ; gold tie- pin, daisy leaf pattern, diamond in centre surrounded smaller diamonds ; lady's 22ct. dress ring, topaz in centre surrounded diamonds; pair gent's gold wire spectacles. — William Munro, b. 1867 to 1872, 5ft. 10in., sbm build, c. bronze, h. brown ( turning grey, bald on top), e. hazel, clean shaven, good teeth, full face, high cheekbones ; dress, brown suit, grey trilby hat. Told loser ( a fellow lodger) he was a market gardener at Cromer and had come to Liverpool to purchase premises for his son. Stated his intention of purchasing above property and asked to be allowed to try them. Also obtained 30s. from his landlady to whom he stated he was expecting a cheque. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. 6.— Warrington ( Boro.).— For stealing ( lodgings) 7s. 6d., 16th ult.— James Thompson, abas Tomlin- son, b. 1894 or 1895, 5ft. 9in., stiff build, c. fresh, h. auburn, e. dk., round face, clean shaven, Roman nose, old wound mark 1. cheek, one arm bebeved deformed below elbow; Birmingham or South Country accent; dress, blue suit, fawn raincoat ( slightly torn in front), motor driver's cap, black or blue with shiny peak, soft collar, black tie, boots. Obtained lodgings, 15th ult., stated he was a transport driver, that he was on his way from Leeds to Birmingham and that his lorry had broken down. Left the house early next morning and the above amount was subsequently missed from a tin box in a bedroom. Appears identical with Man, Case No. 115, 15- 9- 22. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Warrington. STAFFORDSHIRE . 7.— Burton- on- Trent ( Co.).— For obtaining banker's cheque for £ 1 Is. by false pretences.— Major S. Evans, b. 1896, 5ft. 5in., medium build, c. fresh, h. fair, small sandy moustache, good address ; dress, grey jacket and vest, dk. grey flannel trousers, white linen collar, black tie with blue stripe, It. trilby hat, brown suede shoes and cream coloured woollen socks, smart appearance. Was in possession of bicycle. Calls on landowners, gentleman farmers and other persons liable to heavy Income Tax and falsely states he represents the Income Taxpayers' Society, 34, Victoria Street, London, S. W 1 ; sobcits their membership, saying fee for same is £ 1 Is., which he collects where possible. This man is an ex- Army officer and was formerly a representative of above mentioned society, but resigned his position in August last, since when he has no authority to act on Society's behalf. In company with another woman ( in custody) resided in a furnished house, to which she took loser for an immoral purpose and stole the money from him. Inf. to the C. Went to a dairy for cup of tea, entered into conversation with proprietress, and stated he was chauffeur to a traveller, and that his car was in a local garage ; that they were selling blue serge at Is. 6d. per yard, and boots at 5s. per pah". A photo sketcher and dealer hi curios.— A Woman, b. 1879, 5ft., h. grey, slight Yorkshire accent, well educated, quiet disposition ; dress, long brown coat, black skirt, black satin blouse, dk. navy blue felt hat ( trimmed with Paisley ribbon). Called on loser, asked for lodgings for one night. Left the following morning, saying they were returning to Halifax, and a few days later the above property was found missing from the bedroom they had occupied.
