CONFIDENTIAL Supplement B THE POLICE GAZETTE No. 42. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20, li> 22. VOL. IX. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked • are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say. vide Sec. 5, Sub- Sec. 1, 7 Jc 28 Vict., Cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce, the same. N. B— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees. LIVERPOOL. 211.—* Alexander Hughes, C. R. O. No. 228- 22, b. 1896, 5ft. 8Jin., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey, flower back rt. forearm. A fitter; native of Liverpool. Sentenced at Liverpool ( Co.) Sess., 6- 11- 18, to 5 yrs. pen. for housebreaking ( 6 cases). Liberated on licence, 14- 8- 22, to Liverpool. Failed to report on release. Known to police at SEAFORTH. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. BIRMINGHAM. 212.—* Henry Gardner, aliases Harry Gardner and William Jones, C. R. O. No. 274- 22, b. 1880, 5ft. 8£ in., c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. blue- grey, sailor with flags, bust of female and butterfly rt., female and snake, angel and scroll, female figure with flags, flowers with leaves, Dilly Winnie 1. forearm. A labourer ; native of Birmingham. Sentenced at Chester Ass., 6- 7- 20, to 3 and 3 yrs. pen. ( conc.) for bigamy ( 2 cases). Liberated on licence, 6- 10- 22, to Birmingham. Failed to report on release. Pre. con. of cyclestealing and minor offences. Known to police at BIRMINGHAM, CHESTER and BIRKENHEAD. No. 1774- 11, b. 1869, 5ft. 7in., c. fresh, h. iron- grey, e. blue, two hairy moles each cheek, scar inside rt. wrist. An engineer ; native of London. Sentenced at C. C. C., 11- 12- 17, to 3 yrs. pen. for obtaining money by false pretences. Liberated on 2nd licence ( which expires 5- 11- 22), 15- 9- 22, into the M. P. D. Officer proving service of notice— Sta. P. S. Turner, K. Officer proving identity— P. C. Pharoah, C. I. D.- J. Failed to notify his place of residence. Pre. con. of cyclestealing, larceny and minor offences and subsequently of cyclestealing and larceny. Known to police at HASTINGS, SOUTHEND, REIGATE, DOVER, SOUTHAMPTON and on J, K and P. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 215, Supple- ment A ( Vol. II.). Inf. to above office. SLOUGH. 214.— Arthur Page, C. R. O. No. 1505- 08, b. 1859, 5ft. 7in., c. fresh, h. grey, e. brown, scar 1. side of head. A labourer ; native of Lewes. Sentenced at Hants ( Co.) Sess., 4- 1- 21, to 18 mos. impt. and 2 yrs. pol. supn., for larceny. Liberated 29- 7- 22, under pol. supn., to Fareham. Notified his intention at Bracknell, of proceeding to Slough, but failed to report there. Pre. con. of larceny and minor offences, and subsequently of a minor offence. Known to Police at LEWES, ALRESFORD, DARTFORD, WOKINGHAM, SITTING- BOURNE, HAYWARDS HEATH, DORKING, CIRENCESTER, ALTON, FAREHAM and on V, W and X. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 137 ( Vol. IX). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act, in such place. Apprehensions Sought. 215.—' William Walter McGregor, C. R. O.
