Accused, under the name of Messrs. Tatham Harrison, Wall & Co., opened an office as rubber composition manufacturers. An advertisement was inserted in the Yorkshire Post for position of manager at Leeds and district at salary of £ 350 p. a., plus 10 per cent, commission on sales. Numerous applications were received and in each case applicant was told his services had been accepted, at same time, being invited to forward 30s. for some samples of firm's rubber goods. N<> goods were sent and it was found that business was a fraud. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. 3.— H Division.— For obtaining £ 21 lis. lid. by false pretences— B. Fink, b. 1882 to 1884, 5ft. 6in., medium build, h. fair, e. blue, clean shaven ; dress, dk. jacket suit. A Jew. Ordered sweetmeats to above value and paid for same by cheque, No. I/ N 169872, drawn on Sheerness Branch Barclay's Bank, which was subsequently returned marked No Account. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. Called on loser, stated he was employed by a Perth engineering firm, and was inspecting work at Royston ( false). Induced loser to cash cheque for above amount, which he represented was his wages. LANCASHIRE. 9.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining 2s. 6d. by false pretences, 2- 5- 22.— James McCormick, b. 1864, 5ft. 6in., stiff build, h. dk., moustache turning grey, full face, military and respectable appearance. An insurance agent. Represented himself to be an agent for British Empire Key Insurance Co., Leeds ( false), and collected above amount from loser as premium. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 6.— Gowerton ( Co.).— For failing to surrender to her bail at Pontardawe, charged with cruelly ill- treating male child on 26- 7- 22.— Margaret Treasa Tyner, b. 1890, 5ft. 3Jin., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey ( very sore), very dirty appearance. Native of Cardiff. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Smith, Gowerton. HEREFORDSHIRE. 7.— Hereford ( City).— Ernest Dyer, Case No. 3, 8- 9- 22, is identical with Ernest Dyer, alias G. Tomber, C. R. O. KENT. 8.-— Maidstone ( Boro.).— For stealing ( servant), £ 23 6s. 10Jd., 30th ult.— Alfred Leonard Gibson, b. 1906, 5ft,, sturdy build, c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. grey, pimples on face ; dress, dk. tweed suit and cap, shoes. Had in his possession : gent's black enamelled bicycle, front rim brake. Was handed above amount to take to bank and absconded. May endeavour to enlist. May be accompanied by William Stanley Jack Day ( missing from his home since 30th ult.), b. 1906, about 5ft. 10in., c. fresh, h. fair, e. dk. ; dress, dk. grey jacket and trousers, no waistcoat, It. coloured cap, black and white striped collar and, bow. Has been in the Army and may endeavour to re- enlist, probably in the Royal Engineers. Inf. to the C. C., Maidstone. MIDLOTHIAN. 10. — Edinburgh ( City). — For fraudulent bankruptcy.— Alice Emma Gamble, aliases Sutton and Madame Rene, b. about 1887, 5ft. 2 or 3in., stout build, c. dk., h. dk. brown ( bobbed), may now be dyed auburn, dk. eyebrows, inveterate cigarette smoker; dress, usually dk. clothing, respectable appearance. Said native of Batley. Carried on a lady's outfitters business under the name of Madam Rene, from 1920 to 8- 8- 22, when she absconded. May be found carrying on a similar business under an assumed name, probably Johnston, or selling drapery by auction in market places, etc. Accompanied by Harry or Edward Price ( not wanted), b. about 1897, 5ft. 5 or 6in., thin build, h. dk., clean shaven. A Jew. Sherriff's warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Edinburgh. NORFOLK. 11.— Norwich ( City). — For stealing a hand- barrow ( recovered), 27- 5- 22 — Walter Williment, b. about 1882, 5ft. 6 or 7in., c. dk., clean shaven ; dress, dk. suit and cap. A blacksmith's striker ; native of Norwich. Was entrusted with the barrow to deliver at the home of its owner, but sold it to a dealer and absconded.. Stays at common lodging houses. Warrant issued. Opened an account at the National Provincial Bank, Felixstowe, with cheque for £ 150, No. 105/ 9020, drawn on Preston Branch of the Union Bank of Manchester, signed John Harrison, payable to E. Harrison, drew £ 12 and was supplied with cheque book, containing cheques Nos. P. O. 3025 to 3048. The cheque for £ 150 was subsequently returned marked No Account. Also passed worthless cheque on jeweller and obtained goods and £ 5 from the Co- operative Stores by producing share book on the Clacton- on- Sea Co- operative Society.
