METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT. 100.— G Division.— For stealing cheque book containing 15 cheques on London, Joint City and Midland Bank, 253, Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, Nos. P/ 3 10846 to 10860.— Evelyn Ernest Rattle, b. 1890, 6ft, 2in., thin build, h. brown, e. grey, clean shaven, well spoken ; dress, brown suit, straw hat, collar, dk. tie, boots. Took cheque book from office which he was allowed to use for business purposes. Inf. to C. R. O. SHROPSHIRE. 101.— Shrewsbury ( Boro.).— For obtaining £ 9 by false pretences, 13th inst.— A Man who gave the name of A. Hunter ( believed false), b. 1882 to 1887, about 6ft., c. fresh, h. and moustache ( short) dk. brown, long features, small scar cheek ( believed rt.), dress, It. coloured raincoat, or It. grey overcoat ( with belt at back and velvet collar), black waist- coat, brown mixture cloth trousers, It. brown trilby hat or grey cap, boots, wore heavy gold watch chain. Stated his rt. arm was disabled and was in receipt of Army pension of £ 2 a week. On 8th inst. advertisement appeared in Motor Cycle notifying Triumph motor cycle for sale. Same date Hunter engaged and paid in advance for a bed at a common lodging house but did not stay there. From that date till the 15th inst., received a number of registered letters addressed to him, one of which is known to have contained above amount in payment for the cycle with a request for the machine to be sent to Bristol. It did not arrive and Hunter has not visited the address since 15th inst. Stated to the lodging house keeper that he was engaged selling packets of tea. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Shrewsbury. A servant; native of Bexhill- on- Sea. In possession of buff coloured cardboard box, containing tweed skirt, etc. Was employed by loser through the Salvation Army. Inf. to the D. C. C., Romford. LANARKSHIRE. 117.— Glasgow ( City).— For obtaining by false pretences, 25- 4- 22, motor cycle and side- car, number of motor tyres and accessories.— Robert Shirley, b. 1892, 5ft. 6in., c. pale, long narrow face, clean shaven ; dress ( usually) dk. suit and cap. A motor engineer. May endeavour to obtain employment at garages or endeavour to leave the country by obtaining employment as engineer on board ship. Absconded 2nd inst. Sherriff's warrant issued. I- 118.— Liverpool ( City).— For stealing ( lodgings a quantity of lady's underwear.— Bert Tomlin' b. 1894 to 1896, 5ft. 6 or 7in., slim build, c. sallow' h. dk. ( parted in centre and brushed back), e. dk. brown, thin face, teeth decayed, scar over rt. eye; dress, dirty grey mixture or blue serge suit, grey trilby hat, soft collar, tie, boots with rubber heels. Obtained lodgings in answer to an advertisement in local paper, stating he was a commercial traveller for a local firm and had come from Glasgow. May be identical with Man, Case No. 7, 16- 6- 22. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. 119.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining £ 20 by false pretences, 7th inst.— Henry W. Marck, b. 1865, 5ft. 6in., medium build, c. very swarthy, h. ( inclined to curly) and moustache ( short) dk. ( turning grey), appearance of a half caste. A seaman ; native of Southampton. On 3rd inst., opened an account with a local Co- operative ) Society, with a cheque for £ 30, No. 160/ W 1042, on Lloyd's Bank, Cirencester, drawn by M. Hooker in favour of self, and on 7th inst., a similar cheque No. 160/ W 1046 for £ 40 was paid in at the same time, drawing £ 20 from the account. The cheques have since been returned marked No account. Has also passed cheque for £ 50 from same bank, paid in through the National Provincial Bank, Portsea. Expressed his intention of proceed. ng to Southampton, saying his wife resided there. His seaman's discharge book shows the following particulars : No. 6626, last voyage on s. s. ' Desna,' engaged 28- 3- 22, as a quartermaster and discharged at Liverpool 22- 5- 22. Portrait will appear next issue. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Liverpool. 120.— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining a horse, sheet and harness by false pretences, 15th inst.— Edward Moloney, aliases Frank Brooks and Reginald Bolton, C. R. O. No. 8662- 19, b. 1898, 5ft. 4| in., medium build, c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. blue, small scar rt. forehead, clean shaven; dress, medium grey suit, It. grey and black check cap, white soft collar, black knitted tie, shoes. A carter ; native of Southport. Pre. con. of cyclestealing, fraud on railway and larceny at STRANGEWAYS ( Edward Maloney), MAN- CHESTER ( Thomas Borrowes) and on X. On above date Moloney and another man ( in custody) called on aggrieved party at West Gorton and stated they had been sent by a carrier whose name they mentioned, for a horse and lorry. Believing the statement, loser allowed them to take above property, which later was found to have been sold to a horse dealer. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Manchester. 121.— Manchester ( City). — For conspiracy to obtain mare pony, aged, 11 hands, It. grey, hog mane, short docked, very fat; spring cart, 2 wheels, flat front and tail board, rubber tyres ( one missing) ; set of harness, black, brass mounts, 21st ult.— Frederick Cowley, aliases Aliffe, Taylor, Shaw and Marsh, C. R. O. No. 137- 20, b. 1876, 5ft. 3£ in„ stiff - build, c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. grey, short dk. moustache, walks erectly, sharp spoken; dress, shabby grey suit, cap, collar, tie and brown boots. A horse dealer ; native of Isle of Man. Pre. con. of fraud, shopbreaking, larceny, aggra- vated assault and minor offences at GLASGOW ( Frederick Cowley) and MANCHESTER ( Frank Jones). R. O. No. 1810- 17, * b. 1876, 5ft. lfin., medium build, c. fresh, h. brown ( bald on top), e. blue, clean shaven, scar and fleshy lump rt. jaw. A seaman ; native of London. Pre. con. of house- breaking and larceny at MANCHESTER ( William Benson), BIRMINGHAM ( Robert Wilson) and on N and Y. Has also cons, in Australia for larceny and minor offences.
