R. O. No. 2545- 02, Case No. 206, Supple- ment A ( Vol. V.), b. 1870, 5ft. 6in., c. fresh, h. brown ( thin on top), e. hazel, believed clean shaven, scar rt. and 1. of head and 1. cheek. A brick- layer ; native of London. Pre. con. of possessing housebreaking implements and being a habitual criminal, shopbreaking, embezzlement, larceny, housebreaking and minor offences on J, K, T and X. Expressed his intention of proceeding to London. Inf. to the C. C., Chester. 3 — Macclesfield ( Boro.).— W. D. Dean, Case No. 119, 24- 8- 21, is not identical with Archibald Manton Lambert, C. R. O. No. M/ 6313, Case No. 50 18- 1- 22. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Macclesfield. DERBYSHIRE. Alfreton ( Co.).— For obtaining 12s. by false pretences, 12th ult,— Harry North, b. 1892 to 1894, about 5ft. 6in., thin build, c. sallow, h. dk. brown, clean shaven ; dress, old brown jacket and waistcoat, believed old grey trousers, dirty cap, old neckerchief, It. boots, wore several war medal ribbons on waistcoat. Native of Halifax. Called on the treasurer of the Soldiers and Sailors United Services Fund and asked for assistance to enable him to get back to Halifax, where he stated he had a job to go to. Loser sent cheque for 6s. 6d. to the stationmaster to issue tickets to Sheffield for North and his wife. Owing to the Midland Railway not running from Sheffield to Halifax, loser gave North a cheque for 12s. to pay fares to Halifax. The cheque for 6s. 6d. was subsequently returned by the stationmaster with an intimation that the tickets had not been issued. Accompanied by his wife ( not wanted) and child. Stays at common lodging houses. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Fennell, Alfreton. DURHAM. 5.— Sunderland ( Boro.).— For stealing £ 4 3s. Id. 7th inst.— A Man who gave name of Reginald Notter or Rotter, b. 1902, 5ft. 5in., thin build, c. pale ( number of blackheads around nose and on face, noticeable), h. dk., South country accent; dress, grey suit, It. grey overcoat with velvet collar, fawn trilby hat, cloth collar, coloured knitted tie, black boots ( well worn). Called on manager of cinema, said he was assistant camera man for Stoll Film Co., Newcastle, and that liis mother was acting in London ; also that he was 4 THE POLICE GAZETTE. HAMPSHIRE. 6. — Portsmouth ( Boro.). — For stealing ( lodgings), iidaid mother- o'- pearl dressing case ( recovered) ; gold bracelet watch, R. M. P. thereon ; several silver brooches ; Post Office Savings Bank book, No. 20945, on 74, Edgware Road, London ; and £ 11, 29th ult.— A Man who gave the name of Reynolds, b. about 1887 to 1892, 5ft. 5 or 6in., thin build, c. sallow, h. dk., very thin face, small nose, clean shaven, 4th rt. finger missing, fleshy part rt. hand appears to have been removed ; dress, navy blue raincoat with check lining, dk. suit, grey trilby hat, black boots. Called at an apartment house and stated he had come from London to take up an appointment as chief clerk in the Dockyard. Engaged apartments and during loser's absence absconded with the above property. Stated he was in receipt of an Army pension. Inf. to the C. C., Portsmouth. 7.— Southampton ( Boro.).— John Finlay, Case No. 7, 25- 1- 22, is identical with John William Finlay, C. R. O. No. 21877- 20, b. 1889, Oft. Ojin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. blue, scar 1. jaw. Native of Ireland. Pre. con. of cyclestealing at AYLES- BURY. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Southampton. LANCASHIRE. 8.— Manchester ( City).— Reuben Sherman, Case No. 78, 3- 2- 22, is identical with Reuben Sherman, alias Reuben Herbert Sherman, C. R. O. WARWICKSHIRE. 45.— Coventry ( City).— 6th or 7th inst., " Triumph," 1919 model, with sidecar ( make unknown). DU- 8741. Frame No. 608677- 12. Engine No. 1294. 4 H. P. Belt drive. Colour, cycle Triumph standard colours ( tank green and grey); sidecar grey, lined black, upholstered in red leather; fitted with combined apron and screen. M. L. magneto. Kick start. Rubber footrests. Bulb horn. Three acetylene lamps, two cycle, one side car. Toolbag either side of carrier. Mud- guard under saddle has enamel scratched off leaving aluminium showing. No. 6615- 19, was sentenced at Liverpool Ass., 31- 1- 22, to 15 and 3 mos. impt. for breaking and entering, larceny and arson ( 6 cases), with a recommendation for 12 mos. Borstal Detention.
