SPECIAL NOTICE In order that provision may be made for any variations in the supply of the illustrated list of Expert and Travelling Criminals recently released from prison, and published every alternate Friday as Supplement A of the Police Gazette, the Commissioner would be glad to receive, as early as possible, notifications of the requirements of the Police Forces in respect of the above Supplement for the year 1922. The annual subscription for one copy is 2s. 2d., payable in advance. A reduction of ten pence will be made on each copy in excess of twelve supplied to any one Force. Cheques, postal orders, etc., should be crossed, and made payable to The Bank of England. Remittances should be sent to The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, New Scotland Yard, London, S. O. 2.— Z Division.— For stealing clothing and inflicting grievous bodily harm, 4th inst.— John Murphy, b. 1899 ( looks older), 5ft. lOJin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown ( brushed back), e. blue, scar 1. eyebrow, walks with head forward and shoulders raised, hands in pockets ; dress, It. grey tweed sports coat and waistcoat, dk. flannel trousers, white soft fronted shirt ( mauve stripes), soft blue flannel collar, grey tweed cap, black socks ( red silk stripe each side), black boots ( size 10, new). Native of Cork. Called on loser dressed in uniform of the R. A. F., stated he was on furlough and wished to purchase civilian attire. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 5.— Neath ( Co.).— For stealing lady's blue costume, at Port Talbot, 9th ult.— Dolly Vedmore, b. 1896 to 1898, 5ft. 2 or 3in., slight build, c. pale, h. dk. ( very short, and thin); dress, brown costume or dirty check coat. In possession of a basket skip. Accompanied by her hasband ( not wanted), and a child about 12 mos. old. They left Port Talbot above date for Cardiff. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Evans, Neath. HAMPSHIRE. 6.— Gosport ( Co.).— For obtaining money by false pretences, 24- 10- 21.- Bert Hillier, b. 1886, 5ft. 7 or Sin., medium build, c. ruddy, h. brown, clean shaven, thin features, slightly bow legged, bad teeth in front, has false teeth in his possession but seldom uses same ; dress, dk. grey suit ( much worn), grey cap ; may be wearing a blue overcoat, heavy pattern. Native of Haslemere. Called on a friend, stated he had obtained work in the district as a painter ( false), was given money which he promised to return in a week, failed to do so, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Abel, Gosport. LANCASHIRE. 7.— Gars tang ( Co.).— For stealing ( bailee), at Fulwood, 17- 8- 21., oil painting by Sidney Cooper, subject— cattle and sheep, daylight scene— in gilt frame about 2ft. 9in. by 2ft.— A Man, who gave the name of J. W. Jackson, b. about 1893, 5ft. 6 or 7in., slim build, c. dk. ; dress, dk. suit and trilby hat. Represented he was an artist, took the above picture to renovate, and failed to return same. Stated he was a discharged soldier and had resided in London 17 years. Inf. to Supt. Canton, Garstang. 8.— Leigh ( Co.).— For stealing ( person) at Newton- le- Willows, 6th inst.— Black silk handbag, beaded around edge, bone ring handles, containing lady's black leather purse ; and £ 1 2s.— A Man, b. about 1896, 5ft. 6 or 7in., stout build, c. dk., clean shaven ; dress, dk. clothing, It. cap, clogs. Inf. to Supt. Whitehead, Leigh. LINCOLNSHIRE. 9.— Lincoln ( City).— For obtaining food by false pretences.— A Man who gave the name of W. H. Barker, !>. about 1887, 5ft. 4in., medium build, c. fresh, h. dk. brown ( bald forehead, thin on top), e. brown, clean shaven, thin face, nose flat at end, walks erectly, wore gold rimmed pince- nez with long black cord attached, gold ring set with brown square stone 3rd 1. finger; dress, fawn overcoat, navy blue suit with faint white stripe, white butterfly collar, dk. grey tie, fawn trilby hat with brown band, cream coloured socks, black boots with Phillips rubber soles and heels ; respectable appearance. Obtained lodgings 17th ult., stating he represented Hawkes and Botwood Ltd., Agricultural and Horticultural Chemists, Grays, Essex, and that he was opening a shop or warehouse for that firm in the town ( false).
