Native of Rye, Sussex. Was employed as a chemist's manager, took the money from a safe, and absconded. Inf. to C. R. O. 2.— H Division.— For stealing £ 220.— Daniel Shapiro ( Russian, Serial No. Q 38461), b. 1886, 5ft. Sin., c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. blue, one gold tooth lower jaw, American accent; dress, dk. green jacket and vest, blue corduroy breeches, brown leggings with straps, dk. green overcoat, dk. green trilby hat, black boots. Native of London. Obtained the money by entering into pa tnership with a poultry dealer, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. 3.— K Division.— For stealing from a dwelling house, 30- 12- 20.— Diamond ring, set 5 stones ; and a gold wristlet watch.— Claude Andrew, C. R. O. ESSEX. 4.— Brentwood ( Co.).— For obtaining by false pretences at Shenfield, 28th ult.— Lady's black dress ; rush dress basket; and Is. 6d.— Ray Harrington, b. 1854, 5ft. 7 or 8in., rather stout build, c. fresh, h. dk. ( turning grey), e. blue- grey ( staring) ; dress, black silk blouse, black skirt, navy blue coat, black waterproof hat, black boots. Stayed at loser's house, represented she was in receipt of an allowance from relatives in America, obtained the articles, stated she was going to Chelmsford for her clothing, and failed to return. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Boyce, Brentwood. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 5.— Bristol ( City).— For stealing 18s., 26th ult.— William Coles, C. R. O. No. 7516- 16, b. 1891, 5ft. 6£ in , medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, W. Coles back of 1. arm, mole rt. cheek, dress, navy blue suit, soft white collar and tie, grey cap, black boots. LANCASHIRE. 8.— Hurst Brook ( Co.).— For indecent assault on a female, age 14, at Woodhouses, 10th inst.— A Man, b. about 1891, 5ft., slim build, c. pale, h. dk., clean shaven ; dress, black or navy blue suit, black trilby hat, soft collar, dk. tie, black boots, respectable appearance. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Proffitt, Hurst Brook. 9.— Manchester ( City).— For stealing £ 15 from a dwelling house at Collyhu st, 14th ult .— Kathleen Baines, b. 1878, 5ft. 2in., slender build, h. brown ; dress, black skirt, white blouse, black shawl and boots. Accompanied by her daughter, aged 0. Occupied a furnished room and during temporary absi nee of loser, she took the money from a drawer and absconded. Frequents low- class public houses and lodging houses. Warrant issued. Inf. to tho C. C. Manchester. 10.— Wigan ( Co.).— For stealing 3 blank pawn- tickets ( Nos. 738, 739 and 740) from a pawnshop a Lower luce, 9th inst.— A Man, b. about 1896, 5ft. 4 or 5in., e. fresh, h. dk., clean shaven, thin features ; dress, blue serge suit, dk. grey cap, dk. muffler, boots. Ent red the pledge office and stated that he had come to redeem a pair of boots, whi h he had pledged about 4 mos. ago in the name of Roberta, and had lost the pawnticket. During the temporary absence of loser, he took the pawntickets from a sheet of tickets on the counter. Later the same day he entered a pubbc house, and evidently having fillet! in one of the tickets No. 739, Gold albert and three gold medals, purporting to have been pledged by Mr. J. Aldred, for £ 3 0s. 4d. on 23- 3- 21, sold the ticket to a man for £ 1. The ticket was presented at the pledge office same day with a view to redeeming the pledge which did not exist. Inf. to Supt. Banister, Wigan. LEICESTERSHIRE . 11 .— Leicester ( City).— For stealing a cheque book from a hotel, 7th inst.— A Man who gave the name of Major W. A. D. Morton, late Worcester Regiment, b. about 1881, 5ft. 3 or 4in., medium build, short dk. moustache, weais eyeglasses ; dress, grey suit, grey trilby hat with It. grey binding around edge, grey suede shoes, carried a It. raincoat, of smart appearance. Stated that he was a member of the Junior United Services Club, London, also that he was expecting to be mobilised in cennection with the strike. A fictitious telephone message was received at the hotel warning him to report for serviee at Glen Parva Barracks. Left the hotel on receipt of the message without paying his bill, and a short time afterwards the cheque book was missed. It has since been ascertained that a cheque from the stolen book was passed through the Edgware Branch of Lloyd's Bank on the 8th inst. Inf. to the C. C., Leicester. OXFORDSHIRE. 12.— Henley- on- Thames ( Co.).— For obtaining 12s. 6d. by false pretences at Bix, 13- 12- 20.— Charles Henry Williams, aliases Cecil Wyatt, H. L. Wilkins, H. E. Watson, Henry Watkinson and Burr, C. R. O. No. 286- 20, Cases Nos. 2, 8- 4- 21, and 424, Supplement A ( Vol. VII.), b. 1876, 5ft. 5in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. hazel, lst 1. finger deformed ; dress, dk. overcoat, grey felt hat. A piano tuner ; native of Adlestrope. Pre. con. of fraud at WARWICK ( Co.) and BEDFORD ( Co.) ( Charles Henry Wilbams). Called on pubh- cans, stated he was employed by Hickie and Hickie, pianoforte makers, Reading, and asked permission to examine or tune the piano. After being allowed to do so, allegetl the instrument required a damp extractor and a set of insulators, and obtained the above amount, ostensibly for the purpose of supplying the parts. RADNORSHIRE. 13.— Llandrindod Wells ( Co.).— For stealing ( lodgings), £ 7 at Presteign, 8th inst.— John Harris, b. about 1886, 5ft. 7in., red face, blotchy nose, h. brown ( bald patch on top), 2 gold teeth upper jaw ; dress. Calls at houses and states that he has been laying linoleum in a house near by, and that he has about 10 yards left which he offers for £ 2. It is afterwards found that the roll contains about 4 yards of floor cloth of a very cheap pattern. Stated ; he was in the theatrical profession. On 6th inst., called at the house of a stage manager and unsuccessfully applied for lodgings. On 9th inst.. she again called and asked to be allowed to leave her bag as th • landlady where she was staying could not keep her much longer. She was allowed to do so and the next day asked permission to put a parcel in the bag. During the temporary absence of loser, the woman left, and the above described property was missed.
