CONFIDENTIAL, Supplement B. THE POLICE GAZETTE FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH, 1914. No. 23, VOL. I. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Grimes Acts, and the Prisoners ( Temporary Discharge for 111 Health) Act, 1913. Those bearing names marked thus * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce la licence, it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say, vide Sec. 5, Sub- sec. 1, 27 & 28 Vict., cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. No. 1938- 09, age 28, ht. 5ft. 7| in., c. dk., h. dk. brown, e. brown, protrud- ing ears, scar upper lip, woman, anchor etc., rt., tombstone, etc., 1. forearm, dagger back 1. hand. Sentenced at Plymouth Sets., 28.10.1911, to 3 yrs.' pen. for housebreaking. Liberated on licence, 6.3.1914, to Pontypridd. Left his registered address, 25.5.1914, without reporting and nothing has since been heard of him. Effects entry to dwelling houses while occupit/ s are at church, etc., by forcing window catches at the rear of premises or by cutting away the per- forated zinc of pantry windows; steals jewellery, and clothing; removes boots before entering. Known to police at Pontypridd, Llandaff and 7 ' I y mouth. May be dealt with where found. 202. Criminal Record Office. * NALL, HORACE, aliases, HARRY NALL, JOHN NEWTON and HENRY NEVILLE, C. R. O. No. 1915- 04, age 36, ht. 5ft. 10in., c. fresh, li. brown, e. grey, scar 1. cheek and near 1. eye. Sentenced at Knutsford Sess., 30.6.1910, to 5 yrs.' pen. for fraud. Liberated on licence, 30.4.1914, into Met. Pol. Dist., which expires 20.7.1915 ( 21 days' appellant). Officer proving service of notice, P. S. Sporne, C. R. O. Forwarded a letter, 18th ult., stating he was going to Belfast and subsequently to South America. Has not reported at Belfast and nothing has since been heard of him. Obtains horses, money, food, etc., by false pre- tences, posing sometimes as a veterinary surgeon, and presenting cards of gentlemen whose acquaint- anceship he has made and whom he represents himself to be. < Known to police at warrington, Manchester, Bedford, Clonmel, Frome, Altrincham, Aldershot, and Macclesfield. May be dealt with where found. 203. Bradford ( Citv)., * THOMAS, JOHN, aliases, THOMAS WHITE- HOUSE, JAMES MOORE, JAMES SMITH, GEORGE WILLIAMS, JAS. CART WRIGHT, JOHN MOORE and THOMAS WILLIAMS, C. R. O. No. 1748- 01, age 64, ht. 5ft. 2iin., c. florid, h. iron grey ( bald on top), e. hazel, scar bridge of nose and over 1. eyebrow, 2 scars 1. cheek, large scar back of head. Sentenced at Bradford Sess., 5.1.1912, to 3 yrs.' pen. for larceny. Liberated on licence, 6.4.1914, to Bradford. A travelling housebreaker and thief who steals anything he can lay hands on. Known to police at Stafford, Manchester, Sex- ton, LiScard, Nottingham, Northwich, Stockport, wakefield, Derby, Scarborough, Leicester, Brad- ford, Sheffield and Leeds. Warrant issued by Bradford. May be dealt with where found. 204. Preston ( Borough). * WILLIAMS, JAMES, aliases, JAMES AINS- LEY, DAVID DAVIDSON, JAMES WHIT- WORTH, JAMES ROGERS, CHARLES WM. ANDERSON and SAMUEL VANE, C. R. O. No. 719- 12 ( see Case No. 11, POLICE GAZETTE, 29th ult.), age 58, lit. 5ft. 3in., c. sallow, h. dk. brown, e. blue- grey, scar rt. cheek and outer angle 1. eye. Sentenced at Blackburn Sess., 10.4.1908, to 5 yrs." pen. for larceny. Liberated on 2nd licence, 1.8.1913, to Biirtoii- on- Trent, which expires 28.11.1914. Failed to notify his change of address. Secures lodgings, representing that he is a con- tractor executing work in the town, and steals jewellery, wearing apparel, etc. Known to police at Stockton, Durham, Bishop AuckLand, Carlisle, Blackburn, Bolton, Birming- ham, Bath and Chesterfield. May be dealt with where found. 205. Criminal Record Office. " WILSON, GEORGE, aliases, GEORGE JOHN- SON, GEORGE JOICEY, JOHN EDWARD PERRY and JAMES PERRY, C. R. O. No. 590- 06, age 55, ht. oft. 7iin., c. fresh, h. grey ( bald on top), e. grey, scars on forehead, back of neck and rt. jaw, dot rt. eyelid. 4tli rt. finger deformed. Sentenced at C. L. S., 27.6.1911, to 3 yrs.' pen. ( and remanet of former sentence) for fraud. Libe- rated on licence, 24.4.1914, into Met. Pol. Dist., which expires, 1.4.1915. Officer proving identity, P. S. Scrimshaw, C. I. D., K. Officer proving service of notice, P. S. Sporne, C. R. O. Failed to report at Kennington Lane Pol. Sta., L Divn., Met. Pol., 24.5.1914. A begging- letter impostor, also victimises tradesmen by inducing them to cash worthless cheques. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 127, Supplement A. Information to above Office. NOTE.— Since going to Press, JAMES WILLIAMS, No. 204, has reported and his arrest is, therefore, not now sought. Friday, June 5, 1914.
