All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOK OP THE POLICB GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. M. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. t. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious off ences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran- teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 1. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causcs particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the pap: r only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion { if accepted) will be given on application. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should b « prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within th » United Kingdom. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT l-— Convict Supervision Officei GEORGE SMITH, Office No. 1304- 12, Tabular Form, 10th January, 1913, not now wanted; he has reported. 2.- Convict Supervision Office — For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence, which has been revoked.— JEREMIAH THOMAS CLIFFORD, Office No. S. 166,601, age 20, height 5 ft. ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, scar on forehead, slightly round shoulders and pigeon chest, scar left ring finger. Sentenced, St. Albans Quarter Sessions, 13th June, 1911, to 2 years' detention in a Borstal In- stitution for stealing potatoes. Released on licence 12th June, 1913, to the care of the Borstal Association, but he has since absconded. If ar- rested a telegram or telephonic communication should be sent to the Governor, Pentonville Prison, who will send an escort for him. Sentence expires 12th December, 1913, after which date he must not be arrested. 3.— B Division,— For stealing, 24th ult., a light brown- cased piano organ, G. H. No. 10 on box, No. 80 on key- board, pictures on sides and front on barrow, painted red, lined blue and white.— FOUR MEN: 1st, supposed GOLDING, age 55, height 5 ft. 8 ins., hair grey, clean shaven; wearing light overcoat; 2nd, age 50, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fair, moustache light; dress, blue serge jacket, light trousers and vest, white straw Alpine hat, black muffler; 3rd, JACK REID, age 46, height 5 ft. 6 ins., hair ( slightly bald in front) light, clean shaven; dress, dark striped coat, black vest and trousers, brown cycling shoes with straps; 4th, age 32, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion dark, clean shaven ; dress, dark jacket suit, black muffler and cap. They are trick wheel and bottle balancers and probably touring the provinces. Warrant issued. 4.— C Division*— For stealing ( visitor), 24th ult. a suit, 1 straw hat, 1 silver watch and chain, and £ 2 5s.— WILLIAM THOMAS BRIXEY, age 20, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion and eyes dark, hair dark brown, clean shaven; dress, sup- posed brown mixture tweed suit, white straw hat; may be wearing military boots, or uniform of the Royal Garrison Artillery. A native of London. Warrant issued. 6.— F Division* — For unlawful wounding and failing to surrender to his bail.— LOUIS FRISCH, age 29, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion fresh, hair fair, thin on top, moustache ginger, eyes grey; dress, blue jacket suit, black hard felt hat, grey tie, lace boots. A native of Vienna. Speaks good English. May seek employment as pastry cook at seaside hotels. Warrant issued. 6.— H' Division *— For carnally knowing a girl under the age of 13.— HENRY COATES, age 50 to 55, height 5 ft. 5 ins., slight build, com- plexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, slouching gait; dress, dark morning coat, grey vest and trousers, grey cap, tie, lace boots. A bricklayer. Warrant issued. 7N Division*— For stealing jewellery and clothing, 11th ult.— FRANK PITTS, age 22, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, complexion and eyes dark, hair dark brown; dress, blue serge suit, dark tie, bowler hat, lace boots. A native of Clapham. May seek employment as potman, bar- man, billiard marker or labourer.— EMMA SELINA MORLEY, age 20, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fair, full face, hair light, eyes blue; dress, blue striped muslin dress, trimmed emerald braid, large black hat, lace shoes, or long dark grey rainproof coat and skirt, trimmed black merve silk on collar and sleeves, black glass but- tons on pockets and skirt. Supposed a native of Nottingham. 8.— W Division*— For stealing £ 21 10s; 1 Gladstone bag, W. S. C. thereon; 1 grey suit; 1 overcoat and 3 shirts.— LOUIS C. FENLON, age 23, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes brown, cheeks sunken, one front upper tooth stopped with gold, 1 missing; dress, grey lounge suit, white straw hat, black band. He has been employed as manager at a local picture theatre and left 25th ult., by train for London. May be accom- panied by a woman who had with her a dark brindle bulldog. * Warrant issued. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued).— 16.— Carlisle ( City).— For misappropriating various large sums of money which had been en- trusted to him by clients.— JOSEPH HEWITSON GIBSON, age 45, height about 5 ft. 11 ins., broad shoulders, complexion florid, hair and moustache dark brown, turning grey, large prominent eyes brown, strong Cumberland accent, speaks quickly; when last seen was wearing a dark grey jackot suit, black bowler hat, and had a gold watch witli double gold albert, also a gold signet set with dark green stone. A solicitor; native of Wigton. Fre- quents good- class hotels and restaurants, and is addicted to drink. He was returned a bankrupt last month and should have appeared for his pub- lic examination on the 30th May, but absconded on that day and booked to Edinburgh. May en- deavour to leave the country. HAMPSHIRE. 28.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For stealing from his lodgings, 26th ult., an old English lever watch, No. 170, maker J. Dawson, Liverpool, and gent's single gold albert, link pattern, with 2- stone seal attached.— ERNEST AUSTIN, age 30, height 5 ft. 7 ins., clean shaven, complexion sallow, hair black shiny ( brushed well back), long face, pointed nose, several front teeth missing, horseshoe tat- tooed on right forearm and small tattoo mark on left arm; dress, brown wool suit, American cut, black square- toe boots, tie, straw hat. He took lodgings, stating that he was going to work at the dockyard. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. HER TFORDSHIRE. 24.— St. Albans ( City).- For obtaining by worthless cheque a pair of boots, size 8, glace kid, believed E. A. Hulks, 24a, Chequer Street, St. Albans, inside upper, and £ 3 2s. 3d.— W. ASTON, age about 36, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, slight moustache; dress, light grey tweed suit, carried a brown cane with hook handle; is wearing the stolen boots. He purchased a pair of boots, tendered in payment the above cheque for £ 4, drawn by W. Aston in favour of self, on the London & South Western Bank, Ltd., Borough Branch, No. A. 319744, and received the balance. Supposed identical with MAN, Case No. 11, 20th ult. Warrant issued. LANARKSHIRE. 25.— Glasgow ( City).— For stealing ( servant) £ 107 10s. 9d., including 75 £ 1 Union Sank of Scotland notes.— CHARLES WHITE, alias WETTZMAN, age 20, height 5 ft. 6 ins., com- plexion fresh, hair fair or auburn, slight German accent, prominent upper lip; dress, dark brown tweed square- cut jacket suit, green soft hat, tie, lace shoes, grey tweed overcoat. May have a bi- cycle with him. A clerk; of German extraction ; native of London. May try to emigrate. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Glasgow. LANCASHIRE. 26.— Liverpool ( City).— GEORGE HEN- NESSEY, Office No. 188- 02, Tabular Form, 21st February, 1913, not now wanted. 27.— Manchester ( City, .— For stealing ( trick), 13th ult., a bar- lock typewriter.— J. MORGAN, age 30 to 38, height about 5 ft. 10 ins., thin build, long features, complexion fair, hair light brown, slight light moustache, some- times pencils his eyebrows, pleasant expression, rather effeminate, gentlemanly appearance, London or South Country accent; wears a navy blue serge suit and sometimes a grey suit and straw hat. He took a furnished house, stating that he had just come from London and was going to open in Man- chester an institution to be called the Metropolitan School of Languages. He obtained, on approval, six different makes of typewriters and decamped with them 13th ult. Two were found pledged here, and the other four he took to London on above date. MIDLOTHIAN. 28 — Edinburgh ( City).— For obtaining £ 150 by forgery, 5th February last.— JAMES ED- WARD NELSON, age 36, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., hair and moustache black, complexion pale, slight build; usually wears dark suit and bowler hat. Carried on business here for about 12 years as a tobacconist, and was afterwards employed about 18 months ago as manager of the local branch of the Rudge- Whitworth Cycle Co. Absconded 5th February last. Warrant issued. 29.— Edinburgh ( City).— For bigamy, 17th August, 1907.— ARTHUR WATERS, age 34, height 5 ft. 10$ ins., stout build, full face, com- plexion fresh, hair dark, usually worn long and bushy; droops one shoulder when walking, swag- gering gait; large scar one elbow; last heard of in Birmingham on 3rd November, 1911. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Edinburgh. 30.— Leith ( Borough).— For failing to return to Edinburgh Prison, 6th ult., as required by the conditions of the order under the Prisoners ( Tem- porary Discharge for Ill- Health) Act, 1913.— EDTTH HUDSON, M. 19427, age about 40, height 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, hair brown ( turning grey); usually dressed in a grey costuipe. Is deaf and is said to wear an instrument in one ear. Information to the Chief Constable, Leith. NO TTtNGHA MS HIRE. 31 — Newark- on- Trent ( Bwough).— Kor failing to report.— Licence holder RICHARD SMITH, alias STARKEY, PARKER and POWELL, Office No. 705- 01, age 60, height 5 ft. 7$ ins., complexion fresh, hair sandy ( thin on top), eyes grey; small lump bridge of nose, mole under right eye, front of throat swollen, scar left side of forehead, boil mark left of neck. A farm labourer; native of Waltham, Lines. Sentenced, Stafford Sessions, 30th November, 1906, to 5 years' penal servitude for burglary. OXFORDSHIRE. 32.— Oxford ( County).— For stealing a large quantity of wool.— ERNEST CHARLES ALLEN, age 29, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, rather small eyes blue, round face, large ears; dress, old blue grey suit, Alpine hat, white shirt ( old), nailed boots. A general labourer; native of Fakenham, Norfolk. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable. Oxford. 33.— Banbury ( Borough).— For failing to report.— Supervisee WILLIAM LUCAS, alias WILLIAMS and BURTON, Office No. 1436- 10, age 46, height 5 ft. 8$ ins., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes brown, small mole back of neck, scar under left ear, blue dot above left wrist dot 2nd joint of 2nd left finger. A painter; native of Banbury. Sentenced, Northampton County Quarter Sessions, 4th January, 1912, to 9 months' hard labour and 2 years police supervision for burglary. RADNORSHIRE. 3±.— Llandrindod Wells ( County).— For stealing, 24th ult., at Gladestry, a dark green morning coat and vest, J Williams, Tailor, Hun- tington, on tab; 1 white knitted undervest; 1 pair of woollen socks; 1 blue necktie; 1 black- handled hollow ground razor; 3 silver tea spoons ( chased handles).— A man, supposed WILLIAM JOHN HART, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fair, hair light, clean shaven, J. H. tattooed on arm, cut back of head; dress, dark grey cloth jacket and breeches, green soft hat and stockings, nailed boots. May be found working on a farm. Supposed a native of Surrey. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones, Llandrindod Wells. SHROPSHIRE. 35.— Wem ( County).— For stealing, 20th ult., 9- rabbit traps ( recovered).— ALFRED BEDDOW, age 19, height 5 ft. 7$ ins., slight build, complexion rather pale, hair dark, clean shaven; dress, dark suit and cap, thin lace boots.— EDWARD THO MAS JONES, age 19, height 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion tawny, hair dark, clean shaven, eyes brown; dress, striped jacket, blue serge vest, dark green mixture trousers, dark muffler, grey cap, heavy nailed blucher boots, had with him a pair of blue overalls. Labourers; natives- of Shrewsbury. Warrants issued. Information to Supt. Francis, Wem. 36.— Whitchurch ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 22nd inst., a right brown boot, size 9, rather strong make, 1 blue sock and Is.— ARTHUR BROWN, age 28, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion swarthy, hair, slight moustache and' eyes dark, lame left foot, piece cut out of boot; dress, dark cap, black and white muffler, small check, old navy blue suit. A labourer; supposed' native of Ironbridge or Oldgate Fee, Ludlow; has served in the Militia; is wearing stolen boot. Fre- quents common lodging houses and may be found on farms or fruit picking. SUFFOLK ( East). 37.— Ipswich ( Borough).— For obtaining, 17th- ult., a pair of boots and £ 2 17s., by worthless cheque for £ 4, No. B. 831636, on London & South Western Bank, Ltd., Minories Branch, dated 16th June, 1913, payable to self.— J. T. BRANDON, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown; believed to be wearing a blue serge suit, straw hat, brown boots. A fitter's labourer; native of Hammersmith. Information to Supt. Oakden, Lichfield. PROPERTY STOLEN.
