All communications for insertion in the I'OLICB GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. 9. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. BUCKINGHA MS HI RE. 8.— Newport Pagnell ( County).— For being concerned with HARRY HUMPHRIES ( in custody) in obtaining potatoes, etc., by false pre- tences.— JOHN SLOW, alias SLOUGH, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 9 ins., good build, hair and moustache black, peculiar gait; dress, blue serge jacket suit, bowler hat. A dealer; believed a native of Barnet. May be found in company of low horse dealers at fairs or markets. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearce, Newport Pagnell. CAMBRIDGESHIRE. 9.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 2 14s. 6d. by a worthless cheque on the London & South Western Bank, Wimbledon, 15th ult.— S. DAWSON, age about 35, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., hair and moustache light, small head and eyes, bad front teeth ; wearing dark brown over- coat, bowler hat, carried an umbrella. He engaged apartments for two months, called at shops after the Banks had closed, made small purchases and asked that the goods be forwarded to his address the following morning; in each case he presented in payment a worthless cheque for £ 3 and received the balance. DERBYSHIRE. 11.— Alfreton ( County).— For stealing a silver albert, large oblong links, with 3 small links be- tween ; 3 silver medals ( 1 Derbyshire Football As- sociation ; 2 oval, one of which opens in centre) attached, at Clay Cross, 22nd ult.— GEORGE —, age about 36, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, supposed clean shaven; wearing dark brown trousers, white muffler, cap, lace boots. A native of Newcastle- on- Tyne. Recently em- ployed as a milk salesman ; has been a tram driver, auxiliary postman and groom. Is a reservist of the Royal Field Artillery. Attends race meetings. A native of Ports- mouth. He obtained the goods by falsely repre- senting that he was a farmer at the Grange Farm at Basford, Nottingham, and stated that he was a naval pensioner and had earned the Victoria Cross for his services at the bombardment of Alexandria. He wore medal rib- bons, showing active service in the Indian Mutiny and Crimean Wars. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Notting- ham.
