All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressid to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, it thiy are sufficient to inable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portruit, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. .4 remittance of 6s. should bf made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcemunt, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of suth person is required' to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputi/, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen pioprrty must br guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspt ctor, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. A book- keeper; native of Todmorden. Sentenced Chester County Sessions, 2nd January, 1911, to 2 years' detention in a Borstal Institu- tion, for larceny. Licensed to the care of the Bor- stal Association, 4th, and absconded 27th ult. If arrested a telegram or telephonic communication should be sent to the Governor, Holloway Prison, who will send an escort for her. Licence expires 1st July, 1913, after which date she must not be arrested. 2.— J Division.— For obtaining a bicycle by worthless cheque on Lloyd's Bank, Holborn Cir- cus Branch.— F. GERRARD, aee 50, height 5 ft, 3 ins., complexion pale, hair very dark brown, clean shaven, gold tooth front upper jaw; dress, dark grey suit, hard felt hat. CITY OF LONDON. 3.— For embezzling and stealing £ 2 6s. 6d.— REGINALD KING, age 26, height 5 ft. 7 ins., slight build, complexion, hair and moustache ( clipped) dark, eyes grey, wears pince- nez, of good address; dress, light grey suit, dark green soft hat, dark tie, patent leather button boots with fawn- colour tops. BERKSHIRE. 4.— Windsor { Borough).— For leaving his 6 children chargeable to the Windsor Poor Law Union.— HENRY SOWDEN, age 31, height 5 ft. 10J ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel; appearance of a groom. Has served in a cavalry regiment. Absconded 18th ult., accom- panied by his wife ( not wanted), age 27, height 5 ft. U ins., hair dark brown, eyes blue, complexion fresh;" wearing a dark green rather large plaid skirt and black bodice. A reward of £ 2 will be paid by the Guardians of the Poor Law Union, Windsor, for the arrest of the above- described man. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Windsor Borough. BUCKING HA MS HI RE. 5 — Chopping Wycombe ( Borough).— for obtaining, 21st ult., £ 4 by false pretences.— G. CLAYTON, alias CLARKE- KING, etc., Office No. 2781- 01 ( for description and photograph see Case 42, 7th June last, and Illustrated Circular 77, Fig. 12). CA RNA R VONSHIRE. 6.— Bangor ( County) — For neglecting his children in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering.— EVAN JONES, age 36, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., rather slight build, complexion pale, hair, moustache and eyes dark; addicted to drink. CHESHIRE. 7.— Crewe ( County). — For stealing a -' Swift" bicycle, black enamelled, 26- in. frame, 28- in. wheels, upturned handle bars, free wheel, lever rim brakes both wheels, new Palmer tyres, rat- trap pedals, mudguards, Brooks saddle.— FRED- ERICK HILL, age 18, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion dark, hair dark brown; dress, blue suit, black leggings, dark brown cap, blue tie. Pearson, Crewe. 8.— Hazel Grove ( County).— For stealing from a farm at Marple, between 27th and 28th ult., £ 6 10s., key and black leather purse, clasp fasten- ing.— WILLIAM NAIRY, age 38 to 40, height about 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, full face, hair ( curly) and moustache sandy, eyes blue, slightly upturned nose, good teeth; addicted to drink; dress, dark jacket, white cord vest with two rows of pearl buttons, white cord trousers, scarf, grey cap, light lace boots. Dunlop tyres, divided rubber pedals, No. 5 model stamped on bottom of head, Raleigh transfer on head, oil- bath gear case, Brooks saddle, tool bag, tools and oil can complete, Barberry bell. — A MAN, age about 25, height 5 ft., slight build, complexion and hair dark; dress, dark grev suit, black hard hat, yellow gloves, shoes. Is a notor- ious poacher and thief. Well known at Rotherham and South Yorkshire. A native of Ilkeston. T." inside outer case, rolled- gold double al- bert, long twisted links, attached.— GEORGE LEWIN, age about 23, height 5 ft. 2 ins., com- plexion fresh, clean shaved, bad teeth, hair dark : supposed pigeon- chested; peculiar noise when laughing; head of female and clasped hands on one arm, supposed " Edith" other; dress, dark green striped suit, rough surface, black and white check cap, lace boots, white cotton shirt with green stripes. Is known at Shirebrook, Derbyshire, Market Harborough, Sutton- in- Ashfield and Mans- field. Usually employed with showmen, etc. Supposed native of Coventry. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. ESSEX. 1Chelmsford ( County).— For larceny at Little Baddow, 5th inst.— TOM COOK, alias KING, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., slight build, complexion pale, thin face, hair light clean shaven; dress, grey jacket, dark trousers and cap, coloured neckerchief, lace boots. A laburer. May be found on farms or gathering rags and bones. Warrant issued. 15.— Chelmsford ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, a lady's large old- fashioned silver watch, engraved on back, small piece mis- sing from face.— BILLY C. JONES, age 30 to 40, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, complexion pale, round face, hair brown; dress, black suit, rather shabby, dark cap. An electrical engineer; supposed a native of London. Stated he was em- ployed at Marconi's wireless telegraphy works. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. 16.— Colchester ( County^.— For obtaining £ 2 by false pretences, between 21st ult,, and 5th inst.,' at West Mersea.— HARRY DENT, alias LENT, age about 40, height 5 ft. 10 ins., com- plexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes ( believed) grey, 3rd and 4th right fingers missing at second joint, rather deaf ; dress, black coat and vest, darK trousers, paint spots thereon, thin pepper- and- silt colour overcoat. A painter. Is accompanied by A WOMAN ( supposed wife), age 38, height 5 ft. 6 ins., hair black, wearing smail pearl earrings and three children ( a girl age 7, boy age 6, and girl age 2 years). Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Lennon, Colchester. " 17.— Grays ( County).— For stealing 10s. at Aveley, 21st ult.— STANLEY FRANK MAY- HEW, age 22, height 5 ft. 1 or 2 ins., complexion fair, hair light, eyes grey, rather long nose; dress, green thick tweed Norfolk jacket, dark trousers, blue tie, soft green hat, lace boots. A grocer's assistant; supposed a native of Tottenham. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Laver, Grays. 18 — Southend ( County). - For stealing £ 3 8s. from his lodgings, 26th ult.— GEORGE FRANKLIN, age 22, height 5 ft. 9 ins., com- plexion fresh, sharp features, hair ( bristly) dark brown, clean shaven, cut scar left cheek, wart right side of head; dress, green mixture cycling jacket, brown leather buttons, grey mixture knickers, heather mixture stockings; had with him a new Star bicycle, black enamelled, lined red. Stated he was a butcher's assistant at Putney, and that he would be staying at Southend for 3 weeks. Absconded 28th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marden, Southend. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 19.— Cheltenham ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 6th inst., a lady's silver key- less watch, initials V. P. scratched on back ; 1 18- ct. gold bangle; 1 do. engagement Ting, set 4 diamonds and 2 sapphires.— TOM FENN, age 24 or 25, height 5 ft. 10 ins., stoops slightly, complexion pale, hair dark, slight moustache light, eyes ( sleepy appearance) light brown, bad front teeth ; dress, dark green suit, brown cap and boots, grey tie: may be wearing a watch on one wrist. A native of Worcester. Is said to be wanted at Ross and Coventry. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hopkins, Cheltenham. 20.— Bristol ( City).— For stealing ( servant) £ 10 10s., 7th inst.— FREDERICK LIPPLE, age 22, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey; dress, dark suit, large green cap. A labourer. Was sentenced to 5 months' imprisonment at Dover Sessions, 30th March last, for burglary. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Bristol. 258- 08, age 29, height 5 ft. 9? ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes grey, small mole left side of neck, scar back left forefinger. A carpen- ter ; native of Farnham; sentenced Surrey Sessions 3rd January, 1911, to 2 years' hard labour and 2 years' police supervision for false pretences. Su- pervision expires 7th September, 1914. Reuben, Alton. 22.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For stealing, 25tli ult., 10 fowls ( recovered).— GEORGE ED- WARD SMITH, age 28, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., stoops, complexion sallow, hair and moustache light; dress, brown coat and vest, dark cord trou- sers, dark cap, old army boots. Frequents com- mon lodging houses. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. HER TFORDSHIRE. 23 .- St. Albans ( City). For stealing, 28th ult., a " Triumph" motor bicycle, index No. A. R. 137, 3A- H. P., metal bicycle pump, Dunlop belt, Miche- lin front tyre, grazed one side, Shamrock back tyre, Brooks saddle, one spring broken, brown tool bag with three straps, 3rd March, 1908, on left side of engine, rubber worn off foot rest and pedals, single cylinder, black rubber grips, aluminium- coloured tank, other parts lined red and black.— A MAN, age about 28, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., slight dark moustache; wearing a brown Norfolk jacket and dark grey trousers. Information to the Chief Constable, St. Albans. KENT. 24.— Dover ( Borough).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 8 8s. lljd., 28th ult.— DOUGLAS? PARKING TON BRICKETT, age 17£, height 5 ft. 2 ins., slight build, complexion pale, thin face, hair and eyes brown; dress, old brown jacket and vest ( too big for him), naval trousers, turned up inside, old cotton shirt, has two large patches of new ma- terial sewn on chest, which show above top of vest, lace boots. HAMPSHIRE. 21.— Alton ( CountiA.— For failing to report.— Supervisee THOMAS WAKEFIELD, Office No. LANCASHIRE. 25.— Liverpool ( City).— For stealing ( bailee) 26 ladies' costumes, 20 ladies' coats and 6 dresses ( manufacturer's samples), 12th July last, and other dates.— CECIL R. FOSNER, alias POSER1N- SKY, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., com- plexion fresh, round face, thin lips, good teeth, high forehead, small nose, hair dark brown, clean shaven, smart appearance. An agent or travel- ler : dress, dark clothes, green felt hat. Absconded about middle of September. Warrant issued.
