AU communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to TUB EDITOR or THI POLICI GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 8. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted m one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in ons issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be therein identified. 4. In all oases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must bt given, and the exact conditions mult be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension it sought for serious offences will bt inserted at a cost of is. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a oost of 6J. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or wnusuatty intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of ( to. should be made m the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed bp the signature of < w » officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if die name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed bp an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to bt apprehended or td stolen property hear m number, and as far as practicable they art alphabetically arranged bp counties. 9. The fore* which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in tke next issue. M. In oil cases the officer signing tht request for tke insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from inch publication. 11. Announcements for tht Friday issue should bt forwarded so me to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be i* the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. IS. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Tard, by Postal Order, or by Pott Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 18. The Spate being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted on payment, but insertion in tht next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. Pedoilles & Cie., Marque A. P. C., Paris and Lustre, Montecuil Chapal in circles in red ink.— A. GILBERT, a Jew, age 38, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark; dress, brown tweed suit, panama or grey soft hat. Appearance of a French- man. A native of Roumania. Warrant issued. 2.— S Division.— For stealing postal letters from a pillar letter box.— ARTHUR FREDE- RICK DOEL, age 15|, height 5 ft. 3 ins., com- plexion fresh, long features, surly expression, hair brown, eyes dark blue, carries his head well for- ward; dress, grey pepper- and- salt jacket and trou- sers, fawn- colour mackintosh, cap, blucher boots. A native of Walworth. He absconded while on remand at Harrow Road Remand Home. See Case No. 4, 19th April last. Warrant issued. 3.— S Division.— For obtaining 7s. 8d. by false pretences, 25th ult.— ETHEL WILLIAMS ( supposed false), age 27 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion and hair dark, eyes blue; dress, long dark coat, dark skirt, white blouse with pale- blue bow, black straw hat. A domestic ser- vant; supposed a native of Frittenden, Kent. Warrant issued. 4.— X Division.— For obtaining £ 8 2s. 7d. by false pretences.— F. S. WHEELER, alias BROOKS, Office No. 2603- 01 ( for photograph and description see Case 38, 5th inst.), prominent tooth left upper jaw; dress, grey striped lounge suit, black hard felt hat, patent leather shoes. Calls at high- class schools for boys or girls and ar- ranges to place his 6on or daughter there; tenders cheque, on the London & Provincial Bank, Rich- mond branch ( obtained from a stolen book in his possession) for a sum in excess of the amount of school fees and obtains the balance together with a receipt on an official school form. He then calls upon local tradesmen and orders goods to be sent to the school, presenting cheque in payment, and obtaining cash balance, suspicion being averted by producing the school receipt. Warrant issued. Information to be forwarded to the Metropoli- tan Police Office, New Scotland Yard, S. W. BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. o.— High Wycombe ( Borough).— For em- bezzlement.— FRED PRICE, age 19 or 20, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, full face, hair ( rather long and straight) dark, abscess on left jaw; dress, greenish mixture suit, nearly new, green felt hat, knitted tie, boots with patent leather toe- caps. A butcher's assistant. Absconded 17th inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, High Wy- combe. CORNWALL. 6.— Truro ( County).— For leaving his wife and five children chargeable to the Truro Union. — JOHN MAY HARRIS, age 38, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, hair light brown, turning grey, eyes grey, moustache ( long and heavy) light brown; dress, grey tweed suit and cap, lace- up boots, one patched on side. A farm labourer. Absconded 23rd May last. Ac- companied by a woman ( not wanted), age 29, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion sallow, high cheek bones, sharp nose, hair dark brown, eyes brown, walks very erect; wearing black dress, green hat. CUMBERLAND. 1.— Penrith ( County).— For stealing ( bailee), 23rd inst., a Premier bicycle, nearly new, 24- in. frame, rim brakes, Michelin front tyre, Edinburgh back tyre, black enamelled, Premier transfers, raised handle bars, rubber pedals, a parcel of cloth- ing and a hack- saw on carrier.— HENRY PRIM- ROSE, age about 24, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion dark, clean shaven; dress, dark jacket suit, grey cap, shoes; may be wearing a light grey striped vest. Stated he was an electrical engineer from Barrow. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Barron, Penrith. DEVONSHIRE. 8.— Barnstaple ( Borough).— For stealing, 25th ult., a horse, trap and harness ( recovered). — ARTHUR KEBLY, age about 35, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion fresh, slight moustache; dress, blue serge jacket and vest, plaid breeches, old brown leggings, grey cap, lace boots. A groom; has served in the 7th Dragoon Guards. Will prob- ably be found with travelling shows. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Barnstaple. ESSEX. 9 — Brentwood ( County).— For stealing ( bailee), a Rudge- Whitworth pattern bicycle, No. 642620, agents transfer, " A. W. Reddington," on seat tube, 25- in. frame, black enamelled, lined red and green, flat handle bars, plated rims, 2 rim brakes, rubber pedals, Universal transfer on head, nearly new.— E. W. DRAKE, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 9 ins., slight build, complexion ruddy, hair light brown, moustache ginger; dress, brownish- grey striped suit, jacket of lighter material, brown cap, brown boots. An electrician. See Case No. 17, 19th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cowell, Brentwood. 10.— Southend- on- Sea ( County).— For stealing, 21st inst., from her lodgings, a brown crocodile leather puree, knob fastening, inside clasp broken, and £ 4.— ALICE THOMAS, age 24, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., hair light, eyes blue ( large), heavy eyelids, slight scar from abscess under left eye; dress, grey- brownish tweed costume, white silk blouse, large straw hat, putty colour, trimmed with lace and dark red rosee, brown shoes. Stated she had been employed at the Hotel Cecil as kit- chen- maid. Absconded 21st inst; wearing a 9- ct. gold ring, set diamonds and sapphires, one sap- phire missing ( stolen). Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marden, Southend- on- Sea. GLAM ORG A NSHIRE. 11.— Neath ( County).— For stealing a gold keyless watch, open face, " Gantz, Swansea" on dial, " D. Grier Edwards" in inner case; 1 double open curb- pattern albert, part of a masonic jewel as pendant; 1 lady's dressing trunk, and a leather portmanteau.— SIDNEY CECIL BEAUCAMP, age 31, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., thin features, hair light brown, clean shaven, front upper teeth missing, slight impediment in speech, slightly deaf. A carpenter, stated he was a native of Shepherd's Bush. Absconded 13th inst. Supposed previously convicted and wanted elsewhere. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Evans, County Police, Neath. 12 — Cardiff ( City).— For stealing jewellery.— ROLAND SCHUBOTHAM, age 30, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion pale, hair and moustache brown; dress, grey coat and trousers, white vest, bowler hat, shoes. A painter; native of Stafford. Be- lieved to have been convicted of larceny ( gas meter) at Stafford, about 2 years ago. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Cardiff. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 18 — Bristol ( City).— For obtaining £ 20 by false pretences, 26th ult.— FRED WEBB, alia* 2 T H E P O L I C E GAZETTE. o APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued)— HARRY VERNON, age about 50, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion sallow, hair and moustache ( waxed at ends) dark, turning grey, prominent teeth, loud voice, walks stiffly, addicted to drink; dress, black morning coat and vest, dark striped trousers, white straw hat. He advertised for a partner who would deposit £ 20, took premises over- looking the Royal route, and erected seats for letting to view the procession, obtained the above amount, giving as security 3 £ 10 Mozambique Rubber Estate Shares, which were afterwards found to be worthless. At one time he was em- ployed as a salesman, al6o as a variety agent, and is believed well known at music- halls and theatres. Visits race meetings and supposed to have been previously convicted and identical with HARRY VERNON, Case No. 20, 10th February, 1911. Was accompanied by a man ( not wanted), age about 40, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache light. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 14.— Bristol ( City):— For obtaining 2s. 6d. by false pretences, 17th inst,— ERNEST NATHAN STRINGER, age 28, height 5 ft. 9J ins., com- plexion fresh, hair ( rather long) dark brown, clean shaven, eyes brown, recent scar back of head, of good address; dress, blue serge coat and vest, brown tweed trousers, white straw hat. An agent or traveller; native of Bristol. He styles himself the Commercial Union Trading Stamp Co., travels the country selling trading stamps, also represents that he is a railway booking- clerk, and an agent for soap firms. He hires motor cars and states he is an inspector under the Insurance Act, and obtains money from drivers by selling them trading stamps, which he states are Insurance stamps to affix to their Insurance cards. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 15.— Bristol ( City).— For stealing, 10th inst., a waterproof overcoat, maker " Anderson " on tab, 1 remnant of blue striped suiting; 1 do. grey suiting; 1 do. green ; 1 ladys' 18- ct. gold watch, metal dome, key winding ; 1 do. long gold guard ; 24 fountain pen clips, 12 pairs fancy socks, various colours. BRYER, an Austrian, age about 40, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion sallow, hair ( bald on top) and moustache ( waxed at ends) brown, turning grey; dress black morning coat and vest, dark striped trousers, black bowler hat or grey cap. Stated he came from Hungary about 2 months ago. Had in his possession a Hungarian pass with his photograph attached. While here he called upon Jewish Guardians and other persons for assistance stating he suffered from rheumatism and required money to enable him to gain admission to the Bath Hospital. HEREFORDSHIRE. 20.— Hereford ( County).— For being con- cerned with WILLIAM ASHLEY ( in custody), charged with causing the death of Charles East- wood.— — GRIFFITHS, age about 45, height 5 ft. 6 to 8 in6., complexion fresh, hair and heavy mous- tache brown, full face, erect bearing; dress, dark jacket and vest, cord trousers, knees patched, had with him an overcoat and a pair of cloth trousers. Supposed a native of Yorkshire. Works on farms. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Thomas, County Police, Hereford. HAMPSHIRE. Vo.— Aldershot ( County).— Escaped from custody at Waterloo railway station, 6th inst. charged with larceny, 4th inst.— CHARLES DAVEY, age 22, height 5 ft. ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes dark hazel, white scar pentre of spine and right shoulder blade, scar above navel; dress, greenish tweed suit, green cap, muf- fler, boots with plain fronts. A native of Shore- ditch, London. Is a private of the l6t North Lancashire Regiment. Information te> Supt. Davis, Aldershot. 17. — KingSOiere ( County).— For embezzling 16s. at Laverstoke, 3rd inst.— FRANK WHEA TON, age about 45, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, left eye weak, addicted to drink; dress, blue serge suit butcher's frock coat, black soft felt hat, brown boots; may be wearing grey check suit and grey soft felt hat. A butcher. Absconded 6th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hall, Kingsclere. 18.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For embezzle- ment.— WALTER WILLIAM WYMARK, age about 22, height 5 ft. 11 ins., broad build, com- plexion sunburnt, round face, clean shaven, old eczema scars on cheek, slovenly gait; dress, green- ish brown suit, thin yellow and red stripe, white soft collar, blue and green knitted tie, straw hat. Has been employed as carman to a railway carriers' company. Absconded 18th inst. Warrant issued. 19.— Portsmouth \( Borough).— For stealing, 29th ult., a silver watch; 1 white- metal chain and a gold seal.— FREDERICK BALLAM, age about 23, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fresh, slight moustache dark, large mouth, one finger missing, London accent; dress, greenish grey suit, white straw hat, lace boots. He visits Salvation Army homes. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. KENT. 21.— Cranhrook ( County).— For stealing, 22nd or 23rd inst., at Tenterden, a gold hunter repeater watch; 9- ct. silver curb chain with gun- metal sovereign case, bar in centre, and a medal with R. C. C. thereon, attached- and £ 3 10s.— ARTHUR KENDRICK, age 38, height 5 ft. 5 ins., good build, clean shaven, hair thin on top, 3 right fingers missing, pimple over right eye; dress, dark clothes, black wrapper, cap, new lace boots; right hand wrapped in handkerchief, which he uses for begging purposes; sings in the streets. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Fowle, Cranbrook. 22.— Tollbridge ( County).— For uttering a forged order ( originally issued for Is. 3d., and altered to £ 4 Is. 3d).— FREDERICK ALBERT DENNISON, alias WILLIAMS, SMITH, THORPE, etc., age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache ( waxed at ends) dark brown, eyes brown; dress, light grey suit, straw hat, lace boots. Had with him a black bag and a silver- mounted umbrella. Represented himself as a commercial traveller. Native of Stamford. See Case No. 22, 23rd December, 1911. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Neaves, Tonbridge. 23.— Ramsgate ( Borough).— For obtaining a situation by a false character, 4th inst.— FREDE- RICK MARVIN, age 25, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion and hair dark, stubby moustache black, prominent nose, of Jewish appearance; dress, dark tweed suit, black hard felt hat. A barman. Ab- sconded 22nd inst.; had with him a dark brown portmanteau. Information to the Chief Constable, Ramsgate. 2o.— Tunbridge Wells ( Borough).— For stealing, 18th inst., an overcoat, dark green stripe, double breasted, belt at back, strap each cuff, two flap pockets outside, two breast pockets inside, bone buttons, and 10s.— JOHN OSBORNE SHAN- LEY ( correct name believed SPARKS), age 25, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., good build, hair ginger, Ion, clean shaven, pimples on face; dress, dark grey coat and vest, light grey trousers ( very tight), brown boots, light cap ( large). Has been em- ployed as plateman at a hotel. May be found singing in streets or at public- houses. Warrant issued. 26 .— Tunbridge Wells ( Borough).— For obtaining by false pretences, 14th in6t., two bi cycles ( 1 24- in. frame, black enamelled, roller lever brakes, upturned handle bars, rubber pedals; 1 do., black enamelled, 2 red lines, drop top tube, " Crescent" transfer, Dunlop front tyre, Flinto- Proof back cover, 26 by If wheels, upturned North Road handle bar, inverted lever brakes, rat trap pedals, Brooks B. 18 saddle. CLAYSON, age 16 to 18, slight build, complexion, hair and eyes dark; wearing dark clothes and cap, appearance of a foreigner. Probably a waiter. Warrant issued. LANCASHIRE. 27.— St. Helens ( Borough).— For stealing 14s., 13th inst.— ERNEST RUDD, age about 24, height 5 ft. 2 ins., hair and eyes brown, clean shaven, abscess mark one side of face or neck; dress, green tweed suit, silk neckerchief with red squares, green cap, nailed boots. May seek employment as a collier or barman. Warrant issued. 28.— St. Helens ( Borough).— For stealing, Nth in6t., a grey flannel shirt; 1 blue do.; 2 pairs steel- rimmed spectacles; 1 pair socks; 1 pair green- ish tweed trousers; 1 pair tanned boots, Derby pattern, size 9.— LAURENCE O'TOOLE, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion fair, hair light, clean shaven; dress, old jacket, trousers and cap. A labourer; native of Dublin. Is said to have served in the Irish Guards. May seek em- ployment on public works. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, St. Helens. 29.— Warrington ( Borough).— For larceny. PETERS, age 48 to 50, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion very dark, hair and heavy mous- tache dark, slightly tinged with grey, addicted to drink; dress, thin dark grey overcoat, dark trousers, bowler liat, rubber collar, black tie. A tramping tailor; believed a native of Ayrshire. Stays at common lodging houses. Information to the Chief Constable, Warrington. NOR THUMBERLA ND. 30.— Berwick- on- Tweed ( Borough).— For larceny.— JAMES ARMADALE, age 32, height 5 ft. 9 ins., rather broad build, complexion fresh, round face, hair brown, eyes grey. A labourer; native of Heaton, Yorks. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Berwick- upon- Tweed. RENFREWSHIRE. bl.— Paisley ( County).— For stealing £ 8 0s. 10d., 13th inst.— FRANK LANIGAN, age 25, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, clean shaven, large blue eyes, carries his head slightly to left side, downcast appearance, teeth much tobacco- stained, addicted to drink; dress, brown striped jacket and Vest, blue serge trousers, grey check tweed cap, bluish muffler, light lace boots. May seek employment as tram- car conductor or driver, or where tramways are being constructed. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, County Police, Paisley. SHROPSHIRE. 32 — Whitchurch ( County).— For obtaining 4s. 6d. by false pretences, 16th inst.— ERNEST THOMAS, age about 35, height about 6 ft., com- plexion fresh, slight moustache brown; dress, green jacket, rather long and faded, cord breeches, light box- cloth leggings, strong boots, hard hat. A farm labourer; native of Hencote. He obtained above amount and other sums in name of ALBERT THOMAS, was traced to Shrewsbury 17th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Lucas, Whitchurch. STAFFORDSHIRE. 33.— West Bromwich ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 15th inst., 2 South Afri- can War medals ( 1 Queen's medal with 3 bars, and 1 King's medal with 2 bars). " Private Albert Marshall, No. 3066, South Wales Borderers," in- scribed thereon.— ARTHUR TAYLOR, alias GEORGE TAYLOR and BOWLAR, Office No. 434- 01, age 33, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes hazel, bow legged, mole right cheek and right side of neck, tattooed cross flags, bust of female in frame, " Good Luck, Eliza," clasped hands and heart back of right forearm, spray of flowers back of right wrist, female in tights standing on heart and " Eliza " front right forearm, etc. Is a supervisee and has been con- victed at Skipton, Preston, Leeds, Devon county, Exeter ( city), Bridgwater, and West Bromwicb- Warrant issued. These men have been travelling the country for several months, representing them- selves as collectors for " The Midland Counties Hotel Guide and Directory, The Nottingham and Counties' Publishing Company, The United Counties' Mercantile Trades Directory and Hotel Guide, and the Provincial Trades Directory and Guide."
