Pai ticului s concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in onI issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portrait~ of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. .4 remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Bvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not l> ss rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. bear * arranged by 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arran counties. 0. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on W< dnesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on on side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, bp Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICB GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should b* prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. BERKSHIRE. 1 — Windsor ( Borough}.— For deserting his wife and family.— AUSTIN REGINALD STANDING, age 29, height 5 ft. 1 in., hair and eyes dark, slight scar on right cheek ; dress, blue suit with white stripes, blue cap. A footman, but has lately been working as a gardener and labourer. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Windsor. CHESHIRE. 2. — Hazel Grove ( County)— For stealing at Northenden, 9th inst., a B. S. A. bicycle, enamel- led black, 26- in. frame, 28- in. wheels, silver- plated, green lined, plate rusty, Dunlop tyres, nearly new, straight handle bars, black celluloid grips, trans- fer " Large, Wilbraham Road, Chorlton," on front fork, " B. S. A." on all parts, rim brakes, rat- trap pedals, toe clips, black mudguards, front one fast- ened to fork with wire, back one rusty at end, roller chain, air valve on front wheel crooked, screw cap missing, free wheel, bell and B. B. B. saddle attached.— A MAN, age 25 to 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache light brown ; dress, black jacket, brown trousers. Appearance of a labourer. He left behind an old bicycle, enamelled black, 24- in. frame, 28- in. wheels, free wheel, upturned handle bars, black celluloid grips, old tyres, odd ratorap pedals, roller chain broken, old saddle, 2 lamp brackets. Information to Supt. Dutton, Hazel Grove. 8.— Middle wich ' County). For stealing at Kermincham, 6th inst., a greenish overcoat; 1 grey- striped jacket; 1 pair strong lace boots, size 8; a quantity of harness brasses ( rosettes, breast plate, check chains, etc.), and 10s.— BILL BROOKS ( supposed false), age about 26, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion and slight moustache dark, hair brown, bald patch over one ear, crossed hands, heart and true love back of right hand, star back of left hand; wearing the stolen jacket, green cap, turned up at sides, blue vest, dark brown cord breeches and leggings. Has been em- ployed as a waggoner. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Sutton, Middlewich. 4.— Stockport'Bornuoh.)— For obtaining 2s. by false pretences.— GEORGE WEBB, age 54, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, prominent nose, wears leggings or puttees. Has served in the Army; was employed by a firm of nerve powder manufacturers, Leeds, and since his discharge he has called upon customers of the firm and collected accounts. Warrant issued. ESSEX. 5.— Braintree (( Jounly).— For stealing ( bailee) 25th ult., a bicycle, 26- in. frame, black enamelled, 28- in. wheels, Dunlop tyres, upturned handle bars, green grips, front pull- up brake, rat- trap pedals, front mudguard nearly new.— BERT EVANS, age 21, height 5 ft. 6 ins., com- plexion fresh, round face, hair light; dress, grey jacket, brown trousers, straw hat, brown boots, blacked. Cowell, Braintree. 8.— Southend ( County).— For stealing a silver Swiss lever watch, makers Kendall & Dent on inside case, open face, black hands and figures, bow missing, and a lady's silver keyless watch, open face, chased back, out of repair.— CHARLES PACKHAM, age 24 to 26, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair black, clean shaven, eyes grey; dress, grey- speckled jacket, fancy vest, dark trousers, patent leather button boots. A labourer; native of Peckham. May be found among pea pickers. Warrant issued. 7.— Southend ( County). - Fnr obtaining £ 1 by false pretences, 20th January, last.— GEORGE AMOS, age 32, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown; dress, black suit, and bowler hat. Warrant issued. 8— Southend- on- sea ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 5th inst., a lady's gold half- hoop ring, set two rows of small diamonds; 1 lady's gold dress ring, set small diamonds and turquoise; 1 gold bracelet, chased band about one inch wide, small gold watch in centre; 1 pair gold ear- rings, set small diamonds, blue stone in centre; 4 artificial teeth in silver plate, and £ 2 9s. 6d.— THOMAS SALES, alias SAILS. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 9.— Staple Hill ( County).— For b< ing con- j cerned with a lad ( in custody) charged with ware- housebreaking and stealing a Bristol Royal Infirm- ary Contribution box.— ARTHUR PEACOCK, age 17, height 5 ft., complexion fair, hair very light, eyes blue, stoops slightly when walking; wearing old brown suit, old lace boots and cap. Has been working in the boot trade, but may seek employ- ment at Collieries; a native of Kingswood, near Bristol. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cooke, Staple Hill. 10 — Bristol ( City).— For till robbery ( several charges) during the past few weeks. — THREE MEN : 1st, age about 40, height 5 ft. 6 ins., com- plexion, hair and stubby moustache dark, wearing fawn- colour mackintosh, bowler hat; 2nd, age 50 to 60, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, blotchy face, hair and short moustache turning grey; dress, light fawn- colour mackintosh, grey trousers, blue tie, grey cap; 3rd, age about 45, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., good build, complexion fresh, full face, hair and moustache dark; dress, dark lounge suit, black bowler hat, carried a brown Gladstone bag. One of the above enters a shop and asks for change of a sovereign, shortly afterwards a second man enters to make a purchase and induces the shopkeeper to go outside to the window, when the third enters and commits the larceny. HAMPSHIRE. 11-— Alton ( County).— For stealing, 6th inst., ait Albion bicycle, 24- in. frame, enamelled black, plated rims, two rim brakes, upturned handle bars, new rubber to pedals, old saddle, small plated oil lamp attached.— HAROLD GRIFFIN, age 19, height 5 ft. 6£ ins., complexion pale, hair dark brown, eyes grey. A native of Derby. Is an ab- sentee from the 2nd Border Regiment, wearing khaki uniform and puttees. Information to Supt. Reuben, Alton. KENT. ll.— Cranbrnnk ( County).- For staling a. money box and about 4s. GRAHAM, age about 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., stout build, com- plexion fresh, full face, hair dark; dress, dark suit, hard felt hat; wearing a ring on tie. He obtained lodgings stating he was going to be em- ployed at the gas works, and had a quantity of material at the railway station. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Fowle, Cranbrook. ' 7 or 8 ins., good build, hair dark brown, clean shaven, eyes brown; usually wears dark clothes, hard or straw hat. Absconded 29th ult. May en- ! deavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 15.- - Manchester ( City).- For stealing from his lodgings, 14th inst., a grey mackintosh, usual pockets, nearly new and a valuable gold ring, set two sapphires and one diamond.— JOHN WIL- KINSON, age 30, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, bald front of head, clean shaven, one tooth missing front upper jaw, short broad feet; dress, blue jacket and vest, dark trousers, sometimes wears blue overalls, and plain signet ring 3rd finger left hand; had with him a wicker basket and small tin trunk. He obtains lodgings by offering to pay 16s. per week, states that he is employed at some local works as an electrical engineer. Warrant issued. Calls upon tradesmen and states he is an agent for the London & Counties Legal Society & Commercial Agency, High Holborn, and obtains money on the pretence of collecting certain debts. WHEELER, age 43, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., slight build, hollow cheeks, hair ( turning grey) dark, clean shaven, eyes blue, front upper teeth missing; dress, grey jacket suit, light brown waterproof overcoat, bowler hat. Had with him a new brown leather suit case. Represents himself as a doctor. He stayed at a commercial hotel from 23rd to 31st ult., and was accompanied by a young German woman who passed as his wife. On the latter date he obtained the above amount from the proprietor by stating he had purchased some pictures but had not sufficient money to pay for them until next day, and absconded. Believed to be wanted at Folkestone and Eastbourne. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Reigate. WORCESTERSHIRE. I0.— Oldhury ( County).— For stealing, lst inet., a gelding ( recovered).— E. HAYES ( sup- posed false), age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion pale, hair and slight moustache light; dress, dark suit and cap. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davis, Oldbury. SUSSEX ( East). 26.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— Charged with being concerned together in stealing jewellery ( re- covered)/— JANE PARKHOUSE, alias GOLD- ING, MASON, SMITH, etc., Office No. S. 100741, age 19, height 5 ft. ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, scar top of nose and small burn scar right cheek bone; dress, cream- coloured or blue striped blouse with Peter Pan collars, blue serge skirt, large black hat trimmed with red roses. Found in her possession a pawn ticket, No. 2001, for two rings pledged 29th May, 1912, with Thom- son Bros., 63, Praed Street, Paddington, for 4s., in name of Ada Mason, 9, Sale Street, and a letter from the Borstal Institution, Aylesbury, dated 27th May, 1912, from No. 1541 E. M." Jay,— MAY HASTINGS, age 27, height 5 ft. lj ins., com- plexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, small red mole on nose, wart top lip and left cheek, scar left of chin; dress, black and white striped or cream- coloured blouse, Peter Pan collars, blue skirt, large mole- colour straw hat, trimmed large pink roses and pink lilac. Found in her possession a pawn ticket, No. 1270, for a ring pledged 28th May, 1912, with Robertson, 299, Edgware Road, for 7s. in name of A. Hastings, 7, Dudley Place.
