A- Q communication* for insertion in the POLICB GAZETTE, and all communiea- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THB EDITOR OP THB POLICB GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension U sought will be inserted tn one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. t>. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of Gs. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. livery announcement,, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. T. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear m number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged 6* counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should b* prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted m follows: — ( à) All persons coming within Sections 5, 7, or 8, of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one months imprison- ment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Pettv Sessional, Police, or Stipendiary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one months imprisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the following offences: — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Arson. Assaults with intent to rob. Attempted burglary. Attempted larceny. Attempts to break into churches, houses, shops, warehouses, & c. Attempts to obtain goods and money by false pretences. Bankruptcy offences. Being found on enclosed premises. Breaking into churches, houses, shops, warehouses, < tc. Burglary. Cattle stealing. Coining. Conspiracies of all descriptions. Embezzlement. Entering with intent to commit a felony. Extortion by threats. Felonious wounding. Forgery. Fraud. Frequenting. Horse stealing Housebreaking. Importuning male persons to commit un- natural offences ( Vagrancy Act, 1898, Sec. 1, par. b>. Indecent assault on female. Larceny. Mental degenerates. Obtaining goods and money by false pre- tences. Possessing housebreaking tools. Procuration of women and girls. Prostitution, living on proceeds of ( Ya'grancy Act 1898, Sec. 1, para. a). Receiving. Robbery. Sacrilege. Sheep stealing. Shopbreaking. Suspected person. Unlawful possession. Uttering counterfeit coin. Warehousebreaking. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been previously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contain the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction, or convictions if possible, also the No. published in the List of Habitual Criminals. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. Warrant issued. 2 — C Division.— For obtaining £ 2 and a revolver by a worthless cheque on Cox's Bank, Charing Cross, 19th August last—- CAPTAIN CUTHBERT, 2 Court, Special Reserve of Royal Field Artillery, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 11 ins., complexion fair ( bronzed), hair and moustache, clipped, dark brown, eyes blue, short nose, thick lips, lower lip protrudes, rather long, thin face, shambling gait, walks with head forward. May be wearing green Tyrolese hat. Warrant issued. 3,— C Division .— For obtaining a ring and brooch by a worthless cheque on the London Joint Bank, 144, Leadenhall Street, E. C., on 25tht ult. — A. LOCKWOOD, alias J. G. HAMERTON and W. JACKSON, age about 50, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complexion rather dark, hair and mous- tache brown, rather thick hands; dress dark grey reefer suit, black bowler or white soft felt hat. Warrant issued. 4— D Division.— For stealing ( servant) £ 13 10s.— CHARLES CHARLTON, age 28 to 30 ( looks much older), height 6 ft., complexion, hair ( bald on top), and eyes dark, clean shaved, promi- nent chin, American accent ; dress, blue serge suit, greenish fawn colour overcoat, soft green hat. A native of London. Warrant issued. 5 — G Division.— For embezzling £ 62 7s. 4th ult.— WILHELM BRANDES, a German, age about 50, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair and beard ( clipped short) light, eyes blue, speaks English, French, and German fluently; wears gold pince- nez; dress, dark lounge suit, black hard felt hat, flat top, wearing double curb gold albert. An engineer's traveller. CAMBRIDGESHIRE. 12.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 5 by a worthless cheque, 26th ult.— A MAN, crave name of WILLIAM GRAVES, age about 25, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, clean shaved; wearing light overcoat, bowler hat, shoes. He called upon a tobacconist and stated he de- sired to purchase a business, then induced him to cash the cheque. Supposed identical with man described in Cases 28 and 88, 27th ult. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Cambridge. Warrant issued. A reward of £ 3 will be paid by the Roard of Guardians of the Chipping Sodbury Union for the arrest of Bowling. Information to Supt. Phelps, Chipping Sod- bury. 20.— Staple Hill ( County).— For obtaining £ 2 by false pretences.— REGINALD LOUIS WIL- SON ( supposed false), age about 30, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion and eyes dark, hair and moustache ( waxed) dark brown ; well spoken; dress, dark brown suit, brown cap ( no lining), blue tie, button boots, rubber heels; wearing a gold ring supposed set 3 diamonds, second right finger. He represented he was a mining engineer, and had been engaged to open mines in the neighbourhood. Obtained the money to get his luggage from the Railway station. Supposed a native of Wales. A jobbing gardener; believed a native of London. He obtained employment with FREDER- ICK FOULGER ( in custody), age 17, height 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build. A pianoforte salesman; believed a native of Newport. Absconded 2nd ult. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. rather large head and long neck, consumptive ap- pearance; dress, brown tweed coat and vest, black trousers, black cap, black tie, Derby boots. Will no doubt be wearing the stolen overcoat. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 22 — Bristol ( City).— For stealing,' 24th ult., from his lodgings, a white metal keyless watch, open face, and a flannelette shirt with cream, blue, and white stripes— STANLEY SPALDING, alias GEORGE ROBERTS and JOHN BAKER, Office No. S54102, age 29 years, height 5 ft. 1 in., com- plexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, scar top of head, bracelet left forearm, stone, Al, head, brace- let left forearm. A labourer. Native of Har ringay. Has been convicted of embezzlement and felony at Lambeth ( London), Bristol, and Car- marthen. Usually stays at Church or Salvation . HEREFORDSHIRE. 24.— Hereford ( County)— For stealing quantity of old iron ( recovered).— HENRY BROOKES, age 32, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complfexion fresli, hair and moustache light, eyes blue. A native of Weobley. Is accompanied by a woman ( not wanted), age 37, stout build, cross eyed, wears spectacles. Supposed to have a hand truck with them. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Thomas, Hereford. 25.— Weobley ( County).— Referring to Case No. 20, 20th ult., amended description of A MAN ( the other being in custody).—- —, age 28, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion sallow, hair very dark frizzy, eyes dark, clean shaved, scar left cheek tattooed left fingers and forearm, stammers; sup posed a deserter; dress, green and brown mixture jacket suit, dark cap, green shirt, lace boots, size 8, and probably a new overcoat. He called on an electrical engineer, and stated he was employed on that district as an engineer, and in- duced him to lend him his bicycle and 2s. Warrant issued. ISLE OF WIGHT. 29— Newport ( County).— For stealing, 28th August last, a gold necklace link and fetter pat- tern, heart shape pendant, set 2 turquoise in gold leaf centre, attached; 1 gold bracelet, basket pat- tern, 3 small and 4 large links alternately, pad- lock and chain attached ; 1 do. band pattern, scroll design, snap fastenings, small indentation inside, — ETHEL BAKER, alias BALL, WILLIAMS, MANSELL, JONES, etc., Office No. 3333- 01, age 28, height 5 ft. ins., complexion sallow, hair black, eyes brown, pointed features, teeth supposed stopped with gold. Was in Sheffield on 30th ult. Has two tin trunks with her, one painted green, and 1 painted brown, also a rush basket. A domestic. May seek a situation as housekeeper. Warrant issued. OXFORDSHIRE. 34.— Thame ( County).— For leaving his wife and three children chargeable to the Thame Union GEORGE RASS, age 39, height 5 ft. 8 ins., hair and moustache dark, eyes dark brown, tattoos I girl forearms.
