AU communication* for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and aU communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOB OF TBI POLICI GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YABD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Bvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to he apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen properti to be inserted in the POLICB GAZETTB, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to t\* number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanicd by a covering letter. AU payments must be in advance, either at the office. New Scotland Yard, i>| Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " . Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. A pensioner from the Hampshire Regiment. 2.— F Divisionm— For obtaining money by false pretences— R. BURMAN, a German, age 35, height 5 ft. 10 ins., slight build, complexion pale, round face, clean shaven; dress, blue serge suit. He obtains premiums from taxi- cab drivers by re- presenting himself as agent to the Norwich Assur- ance Company. Warrant issued. 3.— P Divisionrn— For embezzling £ 2 4s. 3d. — JOHN SULLIVAN, age 28, height 5 ft. ins., complexion fresh, hair ( curly), and slight mous- tache light, eyes hazel, one front tooth miss- ing; dress, dark jacket and vest, new brown striped trousers, cap, lace boots. A cheese- monger's roundsman; native of Bermondsey. A native of Pampisforcl, near Cam- bridge. Describes himself as a landscape gardener. Follows race meetings. Warrant issued. 7.— x Division*— For stealing, 18th ult., a silver cigarette case and failing to surrender to his bail at Brentford Police Court 25th ult.— AL- FRED WILSON RANDALL, Office No. M18152, age 44, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eye blue ( right eye missing), anchor and stroke back left forearm, scar under right eye- brow; dress, grey cycling suit and cap. A chim- ney sweep. Has been convicted at Bedford. Warrant issued. Information to be forwarded to the Metropoli- tan Police Office, New Scotland Yard, S. W. CITY OF LONDON. 8.— For larceny ( servant) 2nd | ult.— ARTHUR CHARLES MAXIM, age 31, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes brown, of smart appearance; dress, blue serge suit, straw hat, lace boots. A YRSHIRE. 9.— Mauchline { County).— For embezzling £ 35 between 24th July and 21st August last— ERNESTO LENZINI, an Italian, age 27, height 5 ft. 6 ins., stout build, complexion swarthy, full round face, hair light clean shaved, eyes grey, speaks fairly good English; dress, greenish jacket suit, lace boots. An ice cream salesman; has also been employed as a mosaic worker. May en- deavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. No. L. A. 714— G. TAYLOR, age 20 to 22, height about 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, clean shaven; dress, dark jacket and vest, trousers of a lighter material, light cap, brown shoes. Information to the Chief Constable, Cambridge. 7 CHESHIRE. 11— Stockport { Borough).— For stealing, 25th ult. from his lodgings, a silver English lever watch, No. 10419, and a silver chain THOMAS WALLACE, age about 24, height 5 ft. 1 in., com- plexion fresh, slight moustache; dress, blue suit, light cap. A labourer; native of Macclesfield. Information to the Chief Constable, Stockport. ESSEX. 12— DunmoW { County).— For obtaining by a worthless cheque on the London Provincial Bank, South Tottenham Branch, 30th ult., a light chest nut cart gelding, 6 years, about 15 hands, short legs ( white), silver mane and tail; a bay cart geld- ing, rising 5 years, about 16 hands 3 ins., white legs, dark patch on right side near hip, and right eye, good carriage, docked; aud a very dark grey mare cob, rising 4 years, about 14 hands 3 ins., thick set, bony, ragged mane, short tail, good ac- tion.— J. ARCHER, age about 55, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., stout build, full round face, complexion sallow, believed clean shaven; dress, light grey suit, wearing a gold or gold colour watch and chain, stated he was a cartage contractor for meat from Deptford to Smithfield. — BROWN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., complexion fresh. See Case No. 5, 29th ult. They had with them a small varnished or stained governess car, drawn by a red roan pony. A bay van mare, ris- ing 5 years, about 15 hands, white face, medium mane, long tail, very active, in fair condition, was also obtained by a cheque on the same bank. Warrant issued. Warrant issued. li — Renishaw { County).— For obtaining 10s. by false pretences at Killamarch, 18th July last— JOHN WILLIAM YEOMANS, age 21, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, cut scars inside thick part of left thumb and middle of right hand; dress, brown jacket, light Bedford cord breeches, Hack leather leggings, brown check cap and muffler, heavy nailed boots. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued)— GLOUCESTERSHIRE. lb.— Bristol ( City).— For stealing, 27th ult., from a hotel, a lady's silver watch No. 190007, and £ 6— JOHN BAKER, age about 40, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., stout build, hair ( turning grey) dark, clean shaven; dress, navy blue suit, brown over- coat, straw hat, blue knitted tie. He took lodgings at the hotel 16th ult., stated he came from Man- chester, where he had been employed as an engin- eer for a taxicab company, and had with him a black enamelled bicycle, " The Acme, W. J. Cur- tin, Worth Road, Preston," on transfer, which he exchanged for a nearly new " New Hudson" bi- cycle; also had a brown leather bag and a black leather portmanteau with brown straps. May be found at second- class hotels, or refreshment houses. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Bristol. HAMPSHIRE. 16.— Aldershot ( County).— For embezzlement between 17th April and 3rd July last— FRED- ERICK HILL, age 16, height 5 ft. 4 ins., rather stout build, complexion fresh, hair light brown; dress, Scotch tweed suit, grey cap. A clerk. Had with him a nearly new Raleigh bicycle. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davis, Aldershot. 17.- Portsmouth ( Borough).— EDMUND POWNALL, Case No. 25, 11th November, 1910. Particulars cancelled. LANCASHIRE. 18.— Warrington ( Borough).— For stealing, 3rd ult., a Reference cycle, transfer, " Reference Sun Cycle Co., Birmingham," on head and back mudguard, 24 in. frame, 28 in. wheels, Dunlop tyres, black enamelled, red lined, usual parts plated,, front and back rim roller brakes, straight handlebars, free wheel, rubber pedals, lamp, bell and pump attached,— PHILIP JOHN DAVIES, alias ROBSON, ROWLANDS, etc., age about 25, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion swarthy, hair dark brown, usually clean shaven, eyes grey. A la- bourer; native of Swansea. Previously convicted at Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Gloucester, and Pem- brokeshire. Stated he was a professional football player. Warrant issued. 19.— Warrington ( Borough).— For stealing a purse and contents, 8th July last— JOHN CHARLES BAKER, alias BARRATT and BAR NETT, age 37, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, round face, hair turning grey, usually clean shaven, eyes hazel, anchor right forearm, crossed flags, crown, A. S., heart, J. B., and clasped hands left forearm. A labourer ; native of Manchester. Has also worked as a billard marker, sometimes poses as an electrical engineer. Is of a roving dis- position, readily makes friends, attends music halls and is fond of the company of music hall artistes. Previously convicted at Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Birkenhead and Manchester. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Warrington. OXFORDSHIRE. 20— Banbury ( Borough). — For obtaining money by worthless cheques ( 3 cases) on the Mines and Banking Corporation, Ltd.— FRED WAT- SON, alias CHARLES PARSONS and ROSS, age about 28, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., stout build, hair dark, clean shaved; dress, fawn colour overcoat, light grey suit, bowler hat. See Cases Nos. 13, 22nd and 4 29th ult. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Banbury. ranged. Morse then stated he was a money lender, and informed applioant that he would be en- trusted with a large sum of money, and would have to deposit £ 25 as security. Warrant issued. MURDER. 5 TA FFORDSHtRE. 23.— Stafford ( Cownty).— For murder at Kidsgrove 2nd inst.— CARL KRAMER, a Ger- man, age 31, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., high cheek bones, hair nut brown, short moustache ( pointed ends), light brown, flat chest, stoops; dress, dark green suit, short jacket, green peak cap, A la- bourer or fitter. May seek employment at blast furnaces, coke ovens, gas or chemical works, etc; invariably rides a bicycle. He was employed by a firm of German contractors at Kidsgrove from 15th to 27th ult. Warrant issued. Property missing from the house: £ 26 14s. 7d.; a leather cash bag; 1 cheque book of 24 on the National Provincial Bank, Newcastle, Staffs. Branch, Nos. 29713 to 29736; the return half of a steamboat ticket available between Grimsby and Antwerp issued by the Great Central Railway Co. during the beginning of August, and available for 6 months ( and only on 3 days in each week). May be accompanied by TWO MEN ( not wanted), lst age 28 to 30, height 5ft 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, short mous- tache; dress, dark cross tweed suit. 2nd age 20 to 22, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., long face, hair and slight moustache dark; dress, brown mixture cross tweed suit, soft grey hat, brown boots. A collier or labourer. Both speak German, but very little English; stated their intention of going to France. Information to the Chief Constable of Stafford- shire, Stafford. SUFFOLK ( East). 24.— Beocles ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 40 17s. 7d. at Bungay, 29th ult.— FRANK FREDERICK DODWELL BENNETT, age 30 to 32, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., slight build, com- plexion pale, hair and slight moustache light, eyes blue, upper front teeth decayed; dress ( sup- posed) dark greenish suit. A printer's warehouse clerk. Is also a Wesleyan circuit preacher, and has been on a China mission. Absconded 28th ult., and booked to London. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. Zo.- Shipston- on- Stour ( County).— For stealing 27th ult., a Royal Enfield bicycle, No. 100747, dropped bar, 24 in. frame, celluloid mud- guards, Dunlop back tyre, John Bull front, Brooks' saddle, rat- trap pedals, straight handlebars, usual parts plated, fitted with carrier, one side tied with string, Lucas oil lamp— FREDERICK PRICE, alias ERNEST SMITH and PICICARD, age 19, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh; dress, dark blue suit, striped trousers, dark cap, blue 2G.— Hudders field ( County).— For stealing at Lepton, 4th ult., three £ 1 postal orders ( since cashed)— WILLIAM McMURDO, alias MARK McDONALD, age about 40, height 6 ft, 2 ins., muffler, with white spots, heavy nailed boots. A native of Coventry. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hawkes, Shipston- on- Stour. 27.— Warwick \( County).— For stealing, 29th ult. a bay mare, 6 years, 15 hands, thick set, black points, long mane ( parted along neck), docked tail, and a black mare pony, aged, 14 hands, thick set, white star on forehead, hog mane, docked tail, large scar back of head, both in good condition— A MAN, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., com- plexion pale, hair dark, slightly lame left leg; dress; blue serge suit, dark cap. A native of London. ( Concerned with THOMAS JAMES GUY BLOOD, in custody). Information to Supt. Ravenhall, Warwick. YORKSHIRE ( East Riding). 28.— Hull ( City).— For bigamy— FREDERICK PERCIVAL WHITTAKER ROTHWELL, age 34 or 35, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion dark, hair dark brown, slight moustache, rather low forehead, eyes hazel, artificial teeth, 2 females ( one with hat) on one arm. A carter. Had with him a green enamelled bicycle. " The Witham,"' transfer there- on. Absconded 8th ult. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. YORKSHIRE ( North Riding). 1 § .— Thornahy - on- Tees ( County).— For stealing property described in Case No. 74, 29th ult. ( 2 rings and razor, since recovered at Thirsk and York)— A WOMAN, age about 35, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, cut or abscess scars both cheeks; dress, brownish check cloth costume, green spotted velvet blouse, light cap, wearing a string of beads and the stolen locket and chain.— A MAN, age about 28, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fair, clean shaven, thin face; dress, dark suit, light cap. They stay at common lodging houses, and were last heard of at York, 28th ult., making southwards. Information to Supt. Cook, Thornaby- on- Tees. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 30.— Bradford ( City).— For stealing ( bailee) a pianoforte— FRANCIS or HARRY BANK, alias HARRY BANKS BEDELL, age 38, height 6 ft. 1 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, moustache ( waxed at ends) ginger, of smart ap- pearance, well dressed. A furniture dealer; na- tive of Bradford. Has served in the Army. Is fond of visiting music halls and public houses. . Ab- sconded in July last. Warrant issued. 31 — Bradford ( City). — For being fraudulent ( bailee) of 2 rings,— BEECHER W1DDISON THORPE, age 26, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, thin features, hair and eyes brown, clean shaven, rather prominent nose, stammers badly, A clerk. For stealing a dark grey overcoat, cuffs turned hack, and £ 34 7s. 9d.— BERNARD DUNN COLE, age 31, height 5 ft. 9£ ins., complexion fresh, hair ( short, curly), black, eyes dark blue; dress, light grey suit and cap, dark grey overcoat. Is a gunner of the Royal Garrison Artillery. Native of Bury St. Edmunds. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Haverford- west Castle. SOMERSETSHIRE. 22 — Bath ( City).— For obtaining £ 25 by false pretences 28th ult.— HENRY MORSE ( supposed false), a Jew, age 35, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, hair black, eyes dark, oi consumptive appearance; dress, grey flannel striped suit, dark grey overcoat with velvet col- lar, straw hat or black bowler hat. On 16th ult. he advertised for a person to collect accounts; the advertisement was answered, and an interview ar very slight build, drooping shoulders, long face, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, moustache fairlv heavy, sometimes wears a beard, addicted to drink, Scotch accent, of smart appearance; dress, black- homes or similar institutions, and obtains situa- tions through the labour exchange. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT. 32.-— 7" Division a— For manslaughter of Edifch Lily Neale at Staines on or about 11th July, 1911.— WILLIAM CHARLES STANDING, alias GEORGE COOK, STANDEN, ROGERS, CLEARY, COOPER, and LEWIS, Office No. 1308- 1900, Case 6, 28th July ( Illustrated Circu lar, No. 69, figure 34), age 45, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion swarthy, liair dark brown, small mous- grey skull cap, green stripes, heavy lace boots. May be accompanied by a woman, age 25 ( looks older), complexion, hair ana eyes dark; dressed in dark clothing, black straw hat. Also wantedi for failing to report since 10th October, 1910. Standing will probably be found employed as a, farm hand ( labourer or carter) in suburban dis- tricts. lias been convicted at Hastings, Oxford, tache dark, turning grey, scar right side of face, left eyebrow, upper lip, back base right thumb, back left forefinger, back left thumb, mole front of neck; dress, grey tweed Norfolk jacket, minus belt, grey vest, tight fitting brown tweed trousers, Lewes, and other places Special attention of Provincial Police Forces is called with a view to this man's arrest. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 88 — Cardiff ( City).— For non- payment of maintenance arrears— THOMAS BRYON, alias STEPHENS and THOMPSON, age 40, height 5 ft. 11 ins., slight build ( muscular), complexion fresh, long thin face, hair ( tinged with grey), dark, thick eyebrows, moustache, may be clean shaven, eyes hazel, prominent nose, rather deep verhampton. Cycles from town to town; wears knickers and stockings. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. LANCASHIRE. 34.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining fuofl and lodgings by false pretences from 27tli August to 17th September— LEO HERMANN, age about 45, height about 5 ft. 9 ins., corpulent, weighs 10 stones, complexion sallow, hair and heavy mous- tache ( turned up at ends), dark, large fleshy growth inside left thumb extending to palm, wears pinc § - chin, thick lips, bullet wound and " T. B. I. Y., Soutih Africa," left arm, very talkative and plausible. A cabinet maker (' non- society) ; native of Wol- nez, speaks Italian and French fluently. On 21st July he obtained £ 72 from a person by falsely representing that he would employ him as an Italian correspondent. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdoip.
