XT OTICE.— For instructions as to the manner in which 1-^ reports are required to be furnished for the com- pilation of the Police Gazette see Gazette No. 1 of this year. The arrest of offenders described in the Police Gazette, or respecting whom crime reports have been forwarded for insertion in the Gazette, should be promptly notified by the member of the Force effecting the arrest. When notifying the arrest of persons charged with theft or suspected of theft, it should be stated whether the pro- perty stolen, or any portion of it, has been recovered. A description of property supposed to be stolen, found in the possession of offenders, for which owners cannot be found, shall be furnished for insertion in the Gazette. All communications concerning this Gazette should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington, and the envelope marked " For Gazette." Members of the Force in charge of out- stations will forward them direct PERSONS WANTED. WELLINGTON. — 18th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation, William James Imrie, age forty- eight, height 5It. 7Jin., engine- smith, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, hazel eyes, right ring- finger missing, " Kate " in wreath ou left upper arm. Offender was oidered to pay £ 8 9s. to the Proba ion Officer at Wellington, but he has failed to do so, and his arrest is desired unless the money be paid. ( See Police Gazette, 1911, page 222.) Findlay, age thirtv- two, height 5 it. bin., canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, clean- shaved ; dressed in brown suit. Offender obtained £ 1 4s. from Agnes Green, stationer, Papanui, by falsely representing that he was the autho ized agent of Fitchett Bros., Melbourne, and had auth riiy to canvass for " Every Ladies' Journal " aud " Weldon's Journal." DUNEDIN.— 18th March, 1908, cn warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unboru illesiti mate child, Godfrey Shepherd, age sixteen ( now nine- teen), luiKht 5 It. 8 in., farm labourer, native of New Zea- land, thin build, sallow swarthy complexion, blue eyes, fair ha r, very prominent mouth, all upper teeth have been extracted ; may be dressed in blue or dark tweed suit and cap. AUCKLAND. — Arthur Cecil Wolff, default of main- tenance, has been arrested by Constable Stuart, Lytll police, on information supplied by Senior Sergeant Rutledge, Mount Cook ( Wellington) police. AUCKLAND.— Alfred Lewis, failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child : War- rant cancelled. ( See Police Gazette, 1911, page 367.) Most of the tools are branded " Maddeford" on the wooden parts. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man ( name un- known), who was seen breaking into the house and removing the kit. Description : Age about twenty- eight, height about 5 ft. 5 in., supposed carpenter, well built, supposed clean- shaved, imperfeot speech ; dressed in dark- blue suit and black hard hat AUCKLAND.— Between 5th and 10th instant, from the A. and P. S. Buildings, Hobson Street, the property of DAVID GRIGG and ALBERT STANLEY HALLS, carpenters, a recentlv repaired rachet brace, a Disston rip saw, a 3 ft. rule, al£ in. chisel bianded " D. Gripg " on wooden parts; and a 14 in. long tenon- saw and a smoothing- plane, branded " A. S. Halls " : total value, £ 1 19s. Identifiable. WESTPORT.— Between 7th and 10th instant, from the temporary residence of WILLIAM GEORGE BRIGHT, jeweller, a five pearl half h op ting, two five- stone diamond- and ruby rings, a diamond- and- ruby- set centre- cluster ring, two five- stone diamond half- hoop rings, two two- ruby and diamond cross- over rings, two two- Btone ruby- nnd- diamond boat- set rings, two diamond- and- sapphire half- hoop rings, an emerald- and- diamond half- lioop ring, two gem rings, a sapphire- and diamond marquise ring, two ruby- and- diamond half- hoop rings, a single- gem boat- set ring, thirteen assorted rings, and eleven curb bangles: total value, £ 235. Mill Dam at Willowbridge, South Canterbury, to be a Sanctuary for Imported and Native Game. ISLINGTON, Governor. PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson- Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the mill dam situated in Rural Sections Nos. 10774 and 3074, Block IV, Waimate Survey District, the property of Mr. H. E. McGowan, of Willowbridge, and an area of twenty chains in width surrounding the said mill dam, shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Animals Protec- tion Act, and that no imported game or Native game shall be taken or killed within the said area. [ AUG. 23 Part of Lake Wakatipu and Surrounding Land ( Queens- town, dbc.) to be a Sanctuary for Imported and Native Game. ISLINGTON, Governor. PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson- Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Animals Protection Act, and that no imported game or native game shall be taken or killed within the said area. SCHEDULE. ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4,400 acres, more or less, being part of the waters of Lake wakatipu and land in the vicinity, commencing at Trig. Station I near Refuge Point, in Block VII, Coneburn Survey District; thence bounded towards the south- west by a line to the southern corner of Section 28, Block I, Mid Wakatipu Survey District; thence towards the north- west by said Section 28; thence by a line from the south- eastern corner of aforesaid sec- tion to the southern corner of Section 73, Block XX, Shot- over Survey District; thence towards the north- west generally by Sections 19, 22, 8, by the crossing of a road, by said road, and by Section 11, said Block XX; thence towards the east and north- east generally by Sections 75 and 32, said Block XX, to the southern side of Frankton Road ; again towards the north- west by said road to the eastern boundary of the Town of Frankton ; thence again towards the north- east generally by the eastern boundary of said town to the Kawarau River; thence across said river to the most northern corner of Block XII, Coneburn Survey District; thence by part of that block to a road ; thence towards the south- east generally by said road to the most southern corner of Section 2, Block I, Coneburn Survey District; thence by a line to Trig.
