AH communication* for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addresstd to THE EDITOH OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension it sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8J. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. .4 remittance of 6a. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a. person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed hy an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 8. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICB GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all eases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Sew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons art only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subscqumt issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICB GAZBTTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. , _ ... THE amount of stolen property at present " circulated" by the Metropolitan Police has become so inordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very con- siderably. It has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the " circulation " in Informations and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for be- lieving that the property has found its way to the Metropolis. Chief Constables are requested accord- ingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send with them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it will be assumed that the " circulation " of the particulars they contain is not desired. She travels the country with 2 gipsies in a high spring trap, selling skin rugs. Warrant issued. 5.— Reading ( Borough).— For stealing from a bedroom 11th inst., a lady's 18- ct dress ring, set small diamond; 1 lady's plain 18- ct ring, sur- rounded ivy leaves— HARRY HILL, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion pale, hair ( bald on top) brown, eyes ( cast in one), grey, thin face, clean shaved, front teeth broken; dress, dark coat and vest, with greenish stripe, brown riding breeches, black leather leggings, heavy boots, plain fronts. CHESHIRE. 6.— Crewe ( County).— For stealing a brown piano organ, American string barrel, Simon Ro- bino, Oldham Road, Manchester, on front, back lined with zinc painted blue, on a cart painted red, lined yellow, plays 10 tunes, including " Yorkshire Girl," " I am afraid to go home in the dark," etc.— ANTONY LEMMERY, an Italian, age 28, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( curly) and moustache dark, speaks good English, dress, rough dirty clothes and cap.^ ANNIE BEN- NETT or BROWN, age 26, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair light brown, sharp features, several front teeth missing, wear- ing shawl over head, clogs. Accompanied by 3 children ( a boy. age 2, 1 girl age 4, and 1 girl age 8 months). Supposed to be travelling Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearson, Crewe. ESSEX. 7.— Brentwood ( County).— For absconding, 12th inst., from the Poplar Branch Workhouse, Dunton. and stealing 1 tweed jacket, 1 pair heavy nailed boots, stamped P. B. W.— ALFRED MIL- LER, age 34, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair, eyes ( cast in one), and moustache dark brown. A labourer; dress ( supposed stolen), jacket and boots, cord trousers. GLA MORGA NSHIRE. 8.— Neath ( County).— For stealing £ 6 Is. 9d. between 26th February last and 16th ult.— GEORGE TUCKER, ( supposed false), age 32 to 35, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., slight build, com- plexion sallow, hair ( inclined to curly1) and slight moustache dark, eyes heavy and sunken; dress, black suit, dark cap. Stated he was an auction- eer's clerk, Spoke of Rochester, Bath, Chatham, and Bridgend. Absconded 29th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Evans. Neath. HAMPSHIRE. 9.— Aldershot ( County). — For obtaining 2s. by false pretences, 3rd inst.— JOB RAWLINS, age 38, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes, and moustache brown, 2 scars and 2 blue marks right side, scar left side of face; dress, dark jacket and vest, dark cord trousers, dark cap, muffler. A gipsy and chimney sweep. A native of Bentley. Last seen at Ellisfield 6th inst. Keys, Old Trafford. 15.- Manchester ( City).— For obtaining brashes by false pretences, 15th ult.—- JOHN CUNNINGHAM, alias KIRBY, age 46 to 48, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, turning grey, J and 4 dots back left hand; dress, old clothes. A painter; is consumptive, and may seek admission to hospital^. Believed to have gone to Bradford. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Manches- ter. 16.— Salford < Borough). - For failing to report change of residence— WILLIAM WRIGLEY, Office No. 1780- 02, age 58, height 5 ft. 3£ ins., complexion fresh, hair turning grey, eyes grey, scar bridge of nose, calf of right leg, left fore- arm, 2 right wrist. A labourer; native of Man- chester. Sentenced at Salford Borough Sessions 13th February, 1905, to 5 years' penal servitude for housebreaking, etc. Licensed 12th June last. Sentence expires 14th November, 1911. c. f. 480. A colliery surface hand. Has served in the 6th Dragoon Guards. Native of London. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, St. Helens. LINCOLNSHIRE. W'- Barton- on- Number ( County).— For burglary, and stealing 7th inst, 1 five- cham- bered revolver, black stock, owl's head on each side, bright steel barrel, and 9/-,— 2 MEN ( 1 age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., stoutish build, complexion fresh, hair ( close cropped) dark, moustache dark, slightly round- shouldered; dress, dark blue serge jacket and trousers, cream col- oured vest, with dark grey edges, sometimes light grey jacket, light lace boots; 1 age about 25, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., hair light; dress, dark grey jacket and trousers, jacket has long collar down front, white dress vest, four pearl buttons, lace boots, cap with bright leather peak). These men have and wear black hard hats, white straw hats with black bands, and soft green felt hats with lighter coloured bands. One had a straight black stick with 1 \ ins., band of silver at top, initials J. E. E. thereon. Had with them a small Imperial Melodeon, which both ban play, a brown portmanteau, and a smiall, brown leather bag. Each had a cycle fitted with electric lamps, upturned handlebars, both trans- fers scratched off ( one of the cycles is now in the possession of the police). One represented him- self to be a detective, and had a pair of hand- cuffs in his possession. They are of smart ap- pearance, and have been staying at Cleethorpes, Grimsby, and Hull. May be found at seaside resorts or good- class lodgings. Information to Supt. Good, Barton- on- Humber. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. 19.— Northampton ( Borouoh\— For em- bezzling £ 3 15s. 4d. 3rd ult.— CHARLES JOHN KETTLE, age 36, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., com- plexion sallow, hair, eyes and moustache ( heavy) dark, has been employed as a coal and assurance agent. May seek similar employment. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Northamp- ton. NO TTINGHA MS HIRE. 10.— Nottingham ( City).— For failing to report his change of residence— JOHN CHES- TER, alios FURNIYAL and BOOTH, Office No: 840- 02, age 63, height 5 ft. 5£ ins., complexion fresh, hair grey, eyes blue, scar left temple and eyebrow, nose bent, ruptured. A groom; native of Nottingham. Sentenced Nottingham City Ses- sions 10th February, 1910, to 15 months' H. L. and 2 years' police supervision for stealing silver watch. RENFRE WSHIRE. 21.— Renfrew ( Burgh). — On a Sheriff's warrant for embezzling £ 24 13s. Od.— JOHN S. BEAVIS, age about 25, height about 5 ft. 8 ins., very slight build, hair dark brown, eyes grey, clean shaved, low squeaky voice, has eczema on ( supposed) left ear; dress, dark tweed suit, greenish colour tweed cap. A clerk. Native of Ayrshire, has been employed as a correspondence clerk in a shipping office at Leith, may endeavour to leave the country. Information to the Chief Constable, Renfrew. SHROPSHIRE. 22.— Shrewsbury ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences— EVANS, alias FREDERICK C. JARVIS, Office No. 1105- 08, age 24, height 5 ft. 6f ins., complexion pale, hair light brown, eyes blue, slight light moustache, slight build; dress, dark green cap, grey tweed jacket, with short belt at back, light vest with dark green stripes, blue serge trousers, dark green tie, lace boots. A fitter; native of Newport, Mon. He took lodgings on 18th ult., and stated he was a clerk employed at a colliery at Hanwood. Previous- ly convicted at Gloucester, Worcester, Newport, Pontypool, and Merthyr Tydfil ( arrest also sought at Merthyr Tydfil ( Borough) on a similar charge). Warrant issued. Od. by false pretences, 26th ult., by a worthless cheque on the Manchester and County Bank, Moss Side Branch — ROBERT COOPER ( believed false), age about 26, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaved; dress grey tweed suit, straw hat, with black band. He passes worthless cheques at co- operative society shops by represents ing that he is a member of another branch of the society. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Stoke- on Trent. SUFFOLK ( East). 24.- Lowestoft ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 9s. 9d. by a worthless cheque.— WILLIAM JAMES WOOLNER, age about 40, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion tanned, hair brown; dress, grey check coat and trousers, buff coloured vest, either white shoes or lace boots, black soft hat or cap; states he is a male nurse ; believed to be a pen- sioner from the Royal Army Medical Corps. He obtains goods or board and lodgings and presents a cheque on Barclay & Co's Bank, Bury St. Ed- munds branch for £ 2 or £ 3 more than the amount. Is known at Bury St. Edmunds. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Lowestoft. SURREY. 25.— Guildford ( Borough).— For obtaining 4th inst., £ 1 18s., by a worthless cheque No. B127262 on the London and South- Western Bank, Vauxhall Branch,— a man ( gave name of) CHARLES REYNOLDS, age about 30, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 ins., stoutish build, complexion swarthy, full face, clean shaved, hair dark ; dress, dark grey suit, bowler hat, large black tie, wear- ing gold albert. He called upon a tradesman, and ordered goods to the value of £ 1 12s., and presented a cheque for £ 3 10s., and received the change. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Guildford. SUSSEX ( East). 2G.— Bexhill ( County).— For stealing £ 14 from an hotel— GEORGE HENRY BLACK- MAN, age 26 or 27, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., thick set, complexion fair, rather full face, hair light, inclined to ginger; dress, dark jacket suit, grey cap, lace boots. WILTSHIRE. 2y.— Salisbury ( City).— For stealing from his lodgings 28th ult., a lady's small gold keyless watch, No. 19183, white dial, gold hands, Romau numerals; 1 long gold " secret link neck chain,— FRANK BURTON ( supposed false), age about 40, height about 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion dark sunburnt, hair and moustache dark, small dark piercing eyes, tattooed left forearm; dress, pepper and salt mixture suit, green cap, wearing a greeu shirt and tie, button boots. Has in his possession a nearly- new free wheel biej'cle, black enamelled, usual parts plated, black celluloid grips, front and back brakes, bell and tool bag attached. He ob- tained lodgings and stated that he had come from Basingstoke by road and that he was a foreman ganger in charge of men at Wallop, near Andover, employed in surveying; is addicted to drink, and fond of horse racing and billiards, heavy cigarette smoker. 30 - Salisbury ( City).- For embezzling £ 8 8s. on or about the 20th May, 1911, also for neglecting his three children.— ERNEST GEORGE BUD- DEN, age 40 to 50', height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., stout- ish build, clean shaven, round face, dark hair; dress, dark blue suit, muffler. An ostler. He ab- sconded 24th May last and went to Bristol. Warrant issued. Information to tho Chief Constable, Salisbury. YORKSHIRE ( North Riding). 31.— Guisborough ( County).— For stealing from a dwelling house at Carlin How 1st inst., a silver lever watch, white dial, gold pointers, Ro- man numerals, Poole, Middlesbrough, on dial; 1 silver curb albert, seal with green and red stone at- tached— GEORGE STEWART, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fair, hair ( frizzy at front), light brown, slight moustache light, eyes blue, first right finger has been crushed and is bandaged; dress, light brown check suit, brown and green mixture cap, dark muffler, light laco boots. Of military appearance; stated he had worked at mines and on public works. Warrant issued. Information to Supt.
