AU communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THB EDITOR OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTB, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. - 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8J. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed hi/ the signature of an officer of not less rank thcun Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of - police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 0. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 13. AU payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Hissing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZBTTB re- transmitted by Police Forces should bt prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. A native of New Eltham, Kent. Served 3 months in the foot guards and was discharged unfit. ANGLESEY. 11. — Holyhead ( County). — For stealing 2 dark green and brown mixture blanket cloth over- coats, imitation leather buttons, strap across back of each, one has 2 odd buttons, 1 lined green and red plaid ; 1 navy serge jacket; 2 pairs of trousers ( 1 dark green, other grey). — OWEN GRIFFITH, alias CHISEL, age 23, height 5 ft. 5 in,, complexion pale, hair and slight moustache light, eyes blue. A labourer, native of Holyhead. Was at Bangor and Carnarvon 20th inst., and was then wearing some of the stolen property. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Prothero, Holyhead. BERKSHIRE. 12.— Windsor ( Borough).— For embezzlement — FREDERICK CHURCHMAN, age 29, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., stoutish build, complexion fresh, hair ( worn low on forehead) dark, of military appear- ance ; dress, dark tweed suit, dark cap, brown boots. Until 20th inst., he was employed as a brewer's vanman. Warrant issued. 13.— Windsor ( Borough).— For forging the in- dorsement to a telegraph money order for £ 4.— GEORGE COOPER, age 19, height 5 ft. 11 ins. to 6 ft., slight build, complexion dark, full face, eyes ( full) dark ; dress, grey suit ( fashionably cut). Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Windsor. CA MBRIDGESHIRE. 14.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 2 3s. by a worthless cheque on Messrs. Barclay & Co's. Bank, Kew Bridge, Sub- Branch to Brentford, No. 30- B/ 04646, 29th ult.— HENRY DENNIS, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., cleanshaved; dress, grey stripe! suit, blue and white tie, straw hat. He ordered 2 wreaths, and in payment tendered the worthless cheque and received the balance. Was accompanied by a man, rather short, clean shaven ; dress, blue serge suit, black bowler hat. ( Manchester*), Ltd., 44, Chapel Street, Salford, Manchester, and con tained Postal Money Order for £ 2 16s. Od,— JOHN ATKINSON, age 88, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, turning grey; dress, brown jacket and trousers, black satin vest. Has been seeking employment as Boots at Hotels. Booked by 7.25 train 19th inst. from Carnarvon to Manchester. A native of Liverpool. Warrant issued. 16.— Carnarvon ( County)— For stealing a bicycle ( recovered). — ROBERT OWEN JONES, age about 23, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion fair, hair brown, eyes blue, round face, stoops slightly, upper teeth missing; dress, blue serge suit and cap, light boots, had with him a brown suit and cap, dark coat and vest, cord trousers, and a pair of heavy nailed boots. Griffith, Carnarvon. 18.— Pwllheli ( County).— For stealing be- tween Pwllheli and Llanhedrog, 14th inst.. a Royal Enfield bicycle, drop handle bars, Warwick front tyre, nearly new, back mud guard has been repaired.— A MAN, age about 28, height 5ft. 6 or 7 in., wearing Territorial Uniform. Stated he had to be at Aberystwyth 15th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones. Pwllheli. CHESHIRE. 19 — Crewe ( County).— For obtaining £ 5 by false pretences, 19tli ult.— T. HARRISON, age about 45, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion dark, hair grey, dress dark suit, soft felt hat. He advertised in a local paper " Wanted kind home for lady's pet cob, 14 hands, 5 years old; for particulars apply Harrison, Estate Agent, 2, Brown Terrace, Stanningley Road, Bramley, Leeds," to which a tradesman replied, and subsequently received a type written letter purporting that a lady had two cobs, and would give applicant one on condition that he would not dispose of same, and that he purchased harness, rugs and bandages at a cost of £ 5, and on receipt of this amount the cob, etc., would be forwarded. Harrison stayed at the address given above a fortnight only, and ab conded 21st ult. Warrant issued. Informatioa to Supt. Pearson, Crewe. m.— Macclesfield ( County).— For stealing lead ( recovered). WILLIAM HENRY ROSE, age 32 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 8£ ins., complexion ruddy, blotches on face, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, dress, blue serge jacket and vest, tweed trousers, black soft felt hat, muffler, lace boots. A native of London. Has served in the Bedfordshire Regiment. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Ennion, County Police, Macclesfield. DEVONSHIRE. 21Exeter ( City).- For forging a Bankers' cheque and obtaining £ 9 lis. by false pretences. GEORGE GUARD, age about 46, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., com- plexion pale, dark hair, moustache light brown, eyes blue, carries his head forward, down- cast appearance; dress, dark coat, drab colour vest and knickers, light grey stockings, straw hat, rather heavy boots, wheelwright and blacksmith, a native of Ashreigney, was riding a bicycle. Previously convicted in various parts of Devonshire. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, City Police Exeter. ESSEX. 22— Clacton- on- Sea ( County). — For stealing 23rd inst., a lady's gold open face watch gilt dial, black figures; short double twisted gold chain 1 lady's black oxydised watch— GEORGE BROOKS alias GEORGE WILLIAM BROOKS, Office No 698- 08 ( see Illustrated Circular, No. 101, figure 9) age 82, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue; scar upper lip, speaks slowly and deliberately; dress blue lounge suit with white stripes green felt hat, shoes fastened on instep with buckle Obtained lodgings at a boarding house and talked of the Gold Coast and Canada. On learning that two of the visitors watches were slightly out of repair he stated that he was a jeweller, and volunteered to examine them; upon the watches being handed to him he decamped. Is a deserter from the 2nd Border Regiment and will doubt visit seaport towns for the purpose of obtaining employment on a ship. Information to Supt. Reuben, Alton. 26.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For leaving his wife and children chargeable to the Parish.— THOMAS RUTHERFORD YORK, age about 40, height 5 ft. 10 in., hair and moustache dark, eyes deep set, sore lids; addicted to drink. A native of Berwick - on - Tweed. Recently employed as an electrician in H. M. Dookyard. LORANCE, aged 19, height 4 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair ( short) very light, dress, green costume, white knitted jersey, waistbelt, sometimes a green knitted jersey. Warrant issued. 29 — Canterbury ( City).— For stealing, 12th inst., a salt cellar ( recovered).— JOHN BURDEN SMITH, age 60, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fresh, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, scanty whiskers and moustache, eyes brown, ruptured, wears a truss ; dress, dark tweed jacket and vest, black trousers, blue tie with white spots, black hard felt hat, lace boots. A tramp. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Canterbury. SO.— Rochester ( City). — For absconding, 20tli inst., from H. M. Borstal Institution, Borstal.— JOHN LEE, Office No. S. 119346, age 21, height 5 ft. 9£ in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes grey, mole right side of neck, 2 moles left side of neck, and one inside right forearm, dot 011 wrist, 4 hammer toes right foot, scar top of right foot and ankle, tattooed butterfly left forearm, scar forefinger left hand, wart top of left foot; was convicted at Canterbury; also GEORGE RENIGER, Office No. 5 140114, age 19, height 5 ft. 4£ in., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, tattooed black dot right cheek, H. R. right arm, heart left forearm ; was convicted at Salford. May be found in Casual Wards or Lodging Houses. Information to the Chief Constable, Rochester. 81 — Ramsgate ( Borough). — For stealing, 14th inst., a jacket, 1 pair trousers, 1 blue woollen guernsey, 1 pair boots, 1 pair socks, 1 shirt, and a cap— GEORGE CYRIL, age about 16, height about 5ft. 7 ins., slight build, complexion and hair dark, eyes dark brown, prominent teeth ; dress black jacket, navy blue trousers, flap fronts, dark blue woollen guernsey ( rather short), grey shirt, dark tweed cap, blucher boots, size 9 ; stated he was an orphan, and formerly In a school at East Grinstead, and that he came from Newhaven, called upon a fishing smack owner, who sent him to sea, returned on 18th inst., obtained the above clothes and absconded. LANCASHIRE. 32 .— Barro w- in- Furness ( Borough).— for stealing £ 1 10s. by trick— CAROLINE LOW- THER, a gipsy, age 25, height 5 ft. 4 ins., good build, complexion fresh, tanned ; hair ( round plait at back) dark brown ; dress, black dress, grey check, three- quarter length jacket, tight fitting, black hat, several rows of red coral beads around neck, red drop ear- rings, 5/- piece in frame as brooch ; a native of Leeds, may be found in company of horse dealers, hawkers or gipsies. She absconded from hail 18tli inst. Warrant issued. 33.— Barrow- in- Furness ( Borough).— For perjury, CAYZER KENDAL, alias KAZEY KENDAL and KINDON, age about 26, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fresh, tanned, hair and moustache dark brown ; dress dark suit, heliotrope collar and front; a general dealer, may be found in NORFOLK. 36.— Norwich ( City).— For obtaining by a worthless cheque No. A. 043399, dated 15th July, 1911. for £ 57 15s. on the London and South Western Bank, Ltd., Hackney Branch, 3 bullocks ( recovered). JOHN YINCE ( supposed false), age about 50, height 5 ft. 8 ins., weight 15 or 16 stones, complexion fresh, rather large face, hair ( inclined to grey) dark brown, heavy moustache turning grey, plump hands,, plausible ; dress, medium grey suit, soft felt hat, lace boots. He attended the Cattle Market 15th inst^ stated he was a butcher from the East End of Lon- don, was accompanied by a man who posed as his buyer, and who purchased the bullocks, asked for invoice, and stated he would find Vince, who was subsequently found, and in payment gave the above cheque which lias been returned marked " no account." The bullocks were consigned by rail to Stratford and removed by the supposed buyer ta Upton Park. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Guildhall, Norwich. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. 37.— Peterborough ( City). — For failing to report, licence holder SIDNEY MEGG1TT MORTON, Office No. 1802- 10, age 83, height 5ft. 8f ins., complexion fair, hair brown, eyes blue; scar inner left thumb, outer left first finger, and outer right knee. A printer, native of Horncastle. Sentenced at Leeds Assizes 5tli December, 1906, to 5 years penal servitude for arson. Licensed 27th September, 1910. g. 622. Information to the Chief Constable, Peterborough RADNORSHIRE. Liandrindod Wells ( County).— For an indecent assault at Beguildy, 17th inst.— JAMES JOHNSON, age about 35, neiglit about 5 ft. 9 ins.,, complexion fair, hair and slight moustache light brown, female right forearm, tree left forearm, tattoo marks both wrists, dress, blue serge suit, grey cap. Has served in the army, a labourer, native of Gornal„ Staffs. Warrant issued. 89 .— Liandrindod Wells ( County).— For stealing a dark brown jacket and vest with heliotrope, green and yellow stripes, at Painscastle, 15th inst.— A MAN, age 67, height 5 ft. 3£ ins., complexion sallow, hair grey, may have slight grey moustache, flat nose, nasal accent ; supposed wearing stolen jacket and vest and old trousers, speaks a good deal about the navy. A travelling umbrella repairer, carries a basket con- taining old umbrellas and a soldering iron. Information to Supt. Jones, Liandrindod Wells. S TAFFORDSHIRE. 40.— Stone ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences— HARRY , age about 27, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair and slight moustache light, teeth discoloured ; dress, light jacket, light vest with stripes, blue serge trousers, dark cap. Stated he was employed at a signal box on the railway.
