All communications for insertion in the POLICB GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to TUB EDITOR OF THB POLICB GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one. issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be insert) d at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6j. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted ard no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far at practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. B. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the numbed of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwardid so as to be received not later than noon on H Idnesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in adiance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street l'ost Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsi quint issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge ( or such insi rtiun ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printid matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows : — ( à) All persons coming within Sections 5, 7, or 8, of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1.871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions', sentenced to not less than one months imprison- ment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendiary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one months imprisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the following offences : — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Possessing housebreaking tools. Procuration of women and girls. Prostitution, living on proceeds of ( Vagrancy Act 1898, Sec. 1, para. a). Receiving. Robbery. Sacrilege. Sheep stealing. Shopbreaking. Suspected person. Unlawful possession. Uttering counterfeit coin. Warehousebreaking. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been previously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been - finger- printed. Marden, Southend- on- Sea. 15— Witham ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences— HARRY WOOL ARD, alias STUART, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion pale, hair and moustache ( pointed ends) brown, one leg missing, uses crutches; dress, dark jacket suit, straw hat. KEN- DALL, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair and rather long moustache light; dress, dark frock coat and trousers, white straw hat, with black band, rather old boots, of shabby appearance. The first described represented himself as a collector for a directory and hotel guide; the second as a collector on behalf of the London and Provincial Publishing Company, Fleet Street, London. ( recovered) — EDWARD BRAINE, alias EDWARD BRAY- AN, and EDWIN SMITH, age 27, height 5 ft. 1\ ins., slight build, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes brown, two toes of one foot missing. A miner, native of Spennymoor, near Durham. Previously convicted at many places in England, Scotland and Wales. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. A draper, believed a native of Scunthorpe, Lines. Warrant issued. Absconded 24th ult. and believed to have gone to South Wales, where he will probably seek employment in the collieries. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. HUNTINGDONSHIRE. 27 — Huntingdon [ County).— For shopbreak- ing at Godmanchester, between 21st and 23rd ult. — A MAN, supposed CHARLES EVANS, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair and mous- tache grey; dress, grey tweed jacket and vest, trou- sers slightly darker, greenish grey cap with large peak, neckerchief, lace boots, carried a black bag. Had in his possession a photograph of an elderly woman and may have two cheques drawn in favour of Ernest Whvbray, and a Post Office Bank Book. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Huntingdon. 28.— St. Ives ( County) •— For obtaining by- false pretences, 4th inst., a motor bicycle, Chater Lea frame, F. N. 2| h. p. engine, Brown and Bar- low carburettor with handlebar control, spring front forks, Brooks saddle and tool bag, spring stand, new Warwick studded tyres, new Lyso belt, tank painted green and aluminium, with oil and petrol gauges, red number plates, white letters E. W. B. 4.— — WILSON, age about 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion, hair and moustache dark, small features, quiet voice; dress, dark greenish jacket and vest, trousers of a lighter material, cap, new brown boots. KENT. 29 — Folkestone ( Borough.).— For stealing £ 40 14s. 9d.— GEORGE FREDERICK TANNER, age 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion fresh, hair light, clean shaven, addicted to drink; dress, blue serge suit, straw hat. Has been employed as a clerk to a Motor Cab firm. May be found spend- ing money freely. Absconded 3rd inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Folkestone. 30.— Ramsgate ( Borough).— For obtaining a postal order for payment of 15s. by false pre- tences, 6th ult.— GEORGE SANDERS alias JACKSON, age 38 to 40, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, full face, hair and moustache light, inclined to ginger; dress, dark jacket suit, bowler hat, had with him a brown portmanteau about 2 ft. 6 ins. long. He took a room at South- end lst ult., advertised poultry houses, etc., for sale in the " Poultry World," and received letters and postal orders. Warrant issued. LANCASHIRE. 31.— Warrington ( Borough).- For embezzling £ 1 13s. 3d.— JOHN HATTON, age 34, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, high forehead, hair ( slightly bald on top) dark brown, rather heavy moustache, sandy, eyes brown; dress, green jacket and vest, breeches, leggings, light cap. A laundry vanman, native of Warrington. Is a good horseman, may seek employment as a cab- man, driver or stableman. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Warrington. LINCOLNSHIRE. 32.— Alford ( County).— For obtaining 3s. 6d. by false pretences, at Cumberworth, 13th ult.— A. ROGERS, age about 30, height 5 ft. 10 ins., com- plexion fresh, supposed freckled, hair brown, small moustache,, light or ginger, pointed nose; dress, darkish overcoat, brown check jacket, blue trousers, cap with bright peak, dark blue tie, lace boots. Stated he resided at Grimsby and that he had a van at Mabletliorpe. Takes photographs, collects money in advance, gives a receipt for same and states the photographs will be sent on the following week. Warrant issued.
