All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZBTTK, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THH EDITOR ow HI POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension i* sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to bt thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for sorious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketoh, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be hifher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required, to be inserted aiod no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chiof officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and a* far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to he inserted in the FOLIOB GAZBTTE, must, on their apprehension or reeovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next isjue. 10. / » all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be elearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 19. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Posted Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. Is a member of the R. Anglesey Royal Engineers. Supposed a native of East Lon- don. Is believed to have booked to London on 21st inst. Warrant issued. Information to Inspector Jones, Menai Bridge. BEDFORDSHIRE. 7.— Luton ( Borough,).— For stealing ( by trick) an overcoat ( recovered) JENKINS, ctiias WILLIAMS, McDONALD, and WILSON, age about 55, height 5 ft. 9 ins., hair ( bald on top) grey, moustache brown, turning grey, front teeth missing; dress, grey striped suit, black tie, car- ried a brown bag. He took lodgings, ordered a suit to measure, at the same time obtained an overcoat, promising to pay for same on the receipt of suit, pledgjed the overcoat, and absconded. Supposed wanted elsewhere. CA RMA R THENSHIRE. 8.— Llandilo ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) a bicycle, " Starley" make, 24 in. frame, 28 in- wheels, black enamelled frame, lined green and white, turned up handle bars, mudguards, rubber pedals " Brooks" saddle, springs broken, " Demon" oil lamp attached, and £ 1, at Penygroes, 5th inst. — GEORGE DOWNEY, age 21, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion ( sunburnt) and hair dark; dress, navy blue jacket suit, navy blue muffler, drab colour cap. A native of Southend- on- Sea. Has been in the Essex Industrial School, Chelmsford. Con- victed of housebreaking at Haverfordwest Quarter Sessions 3rd January last. Absconded 5th inst. CHESHIRE. 9.— Crewe ( County).— For stealing a pair of glace kid shoes, size 8, patent leather toe caps. — A MAN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion sallow, hair dark; dress, brown cycling suit, cap, shoes. ESSEX. 10.— Chelmsford( County).— MAN described in Case 13 of 16th inst., is identical with ARTHUR CLARK, Office No. 750- 11, spar back of neck, over right eye, inside top lip, base of left forefinger and 2 on forehead. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. GLAMORGA NSHIRE. 11.— Bridgend ( County). — For failing to surrender to his bail 10th inst., charged with re- ceiving stolen property.— EDWARD " WHELAN, age 21, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, true love, heart, two birds, harp, shamrock and Erin right forearm. A labourer, native of Waterford. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davies, Bridgend. 12.— Neath ( County).— For stealing £ 3 8s. 6d. from his lodgings 24th inst,— WALTER ALLEN, alias FOSTER, age 27, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., hair light brown, slight mousffcache light, upper teeth decayed; dress, black jacket and vest, dark blue striped trousers, blue muffler, with large white squares, light tweed cap, Derby boots. A labourer. He came from Maesteg to Skewen on 31st ult., stated h- 3 had been in an industrial school near London, that he belonged to Woolwich, and had served in the North Lancashire Regiment. Left his working clothing behind. Warrant issued Information to Supt, Evans, Neath. 13.— Pontypridd ( County).— For obtaining 3/ 9 by false pretences 1st inst,— W. H. REEVES, alias EDWARD GEORGE RIVERS, age 40, height 5 ft, 8 or 9 ins., slight build, complexion fair, hair and very thick moustache ( waxed at ends) sandy, long cut scar point of nose, nose very red; dress, black frock or morning coat, tweed vest, navy blue trousers, white straw hat with green band, brown lace boots, carried a stick. An auctioneer. Has in his possession a large sum of money, and be- lieved several portmanteaux and parcels. He ob- tained deposits as a guarantee from persons whom he appointed to fill positions as partner, collecting inspectors, managers, etc., and requested them to start duties on the day after he absconded. May visit Southend and Westcliff, or endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. 15.— Cardiff { City).— For indecently assaulting a girl age 12 years.— GIOVANNI POLI, an Ital- ian, age about 40, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 ins., stout build, complexion, hair and moustache dark, full face, slouching gait; dress, dark suit, light cap. An ice cream vendor. Absconded 17th inst. Warrant issued. 1G.— Cardiff ( City).— For stealiug ( servant) £ 10.— THOMAS JOHN PRITCHARD, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7ins., square shoulders, com- plexion fresh, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, clean shaven, eyes blue grey, mole under one eye, very plausible and talkative, wearing grey cloth- ing. A clerk or cashier, native of North Wales. Absconded 4th May last. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. 17 .— Swansea ( Borough).— For stealing, 9th inst., a seaman's bag containing a grey suit, 2 pair grey flannel drawers; 2 do. singlets; 1 pair blue serge trousers; 5 pqtjton shtirte, different colours; 1 blue serge guernsey marked " Royal Mail Packet Co."; 18 collars.— EDWARD ELLIOT, age 20 or 23, height 5 ft. 8 ins., com- plexion fair, hair ( inclined to ginger) light, cast in one eye, bad teeth, tattooed both arms, prob- ably wearing the stolen clothing. A marine fire- man. Stated he was a member of the Territorials and going in to training on 10th prox. Warrant issued. 18.— Swansea ( Borough). — For stealing £ 9, 20th ult.— ALFRED EDGE, age 42, height 5 ft! 9 ins., complexion, hair and moustache dark, turn- ing grey, suffers with bad feet, awkward gait; dress, dark brown suit, black bowler hat, lace boots, carries a stick. A butcher. Absconded 22nd ult. Warrant issued. 19.— Swansea ( Borough\— For stealing from his lodgings, a silver lever watch, open face, gold hands, black numerals, dent on side; 1 silver albert, curb pattern, medal " M. R." on one side, " Presented to Michael Kelly" on other; 1 dark grey overcoat, green stripes, " Chappell, Swansea " oi tab; 1 black jacket, " Palmer, Swansea" on tab; 1 pair glace kid lace boots, " Jackson " stamp- ed inside uppers; 1 silver cigarette case, initials " G. G." thereon. - JOHN GALLAGHER, age about 50, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., slight build, inclined to stoop, hair and moustache dark, turn- ing grey, rather bald on top; dress, dark grey suit, black stripes, green cap and tie, blue mufer, lace boots. Stated he came from Cardiff and had obtained employment at the gas works. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Swansea. GL OUCES TERSHIRE. 20.— Bristol ( City).— For obtaining 15s. by false pretences.— CHARLES BOND, age 35, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion sallow, hair and moustache dark brown; drless, dark serge jacket and vest, dark trousers, black bowler hat, lace boots. He advertised in the Exchange and Mart 9th inst., " Cash gifts, owner deceased, £ 14 4s. Sunbeam £ 5; Edison's Combination Standard phonograph 40/-; 7 £ 3 3s. suits 15/- each; 25/- roller skates 7/ 6; £ 4 4s. cricket set 21/-; Bond, ' Bell and Shoulder ' Inn, Marlborough." Received 15/- for one of the suits but failed to forward the goods. Left Marlborough 15th inst., requesting that his letters be sent on to Maidenhead until 23rd inst. Warrant issued. HAMPSHIRE. 21.— Co sport ( County).— For forgery ( endorse- ment of banker's cheque) 27th inst., also altered the amount from 5 to 50 guineas, and obtained the latter amount— A MAN, age about 55, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion sallow, features rather drawn, hair ( turning grey) brown, clean shaved, large full eyes; dress, dark tweed lounge suit, black bowler hat. HEREFORDSHIRE. 22. — Leominster ( County).— For obtaining by false pretences at Brimfield, 17th inst., a heavy black overcoat, brown lining, small hole burnt in one skirt and £ 2.— A MAN, age 23, or 24, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, complexion fair, hair light, clean shaved, eyes blue, of good address; dress, green lounge jacket and vest, cap to match, green breeches, drab colour cloth leg- gings, brown lace boots, green flannelette collar with pin set stone. Appearance of a groom or jockey. Stated he required the money to pay some timber hauliers employed in the neighbour- hood. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Rooke, Leominster. Peck, Hertford. 24.— Hitchin ( County). — On commitment warrants for non- payment of £ 5 12s. fines and costs imposed at Stevenage Petty Sessions, 11th ult. for offences under the Motor Car Act, 1903. — ALEXANDER CARTER, age 21 to 23, height 5 ft. 5 to 7 ins., thin features, hair dark. A chauffeur license No. 5580 renewed by the Cam- bridge County Council 18th March, 1911; now believed to be employed by a music hall artiste touring the provinces. ( by trick) 17th inst., GEORGE WARD, age 28, height 5 ft. 4 to 6 ins., square shoulders, complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown, tattooed left forearm; dress, grey striped jacket and vest, moleskin or light cord trousers, greenish striped muffler, dark cap, lace boots. A labourer, supposed a native of Sheffield. Has served in the Army. Absconded 19th inst. D. engraved on back of outer case, maker, Robertson, Square, Shrewsbury, engraved inside, gilt cross attached with ring; 1 lady's gold neck chain; 1 do. ring set 3 pearls.— JOE RICHARDS alias JO- SEPH PARSONS & J. T. HENDRICK, age 28 to 80, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., slight build, complexion dark, hair brown, one front upper tooth missing; thick lips, left forefinger deformed; dress, greenish suit, white cycling shirt, black tie, white straw hat, black band, tan colour boots with light grey canvas tops. SHROPSHIRE. 29 — Wellington ( County). — For shop- breaking at Newport, loth inst., and stealing a briar pipe ( recovered), 3 pocket knives with 2 blades; 1 white bone handle, 1 buck horn, 1 brown glazed.— TWO MEN, 1st age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., hair light sandy, slight moustache light, limps slightly; dress, grey suit, cap, light lace boots. 2nd age 30 to 32, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fair, hair dark brown, clean shaved ! dress, shabby navy blue suit, cap. Fulcher, Wellington, Salop. - S TA FFORDSHIRE. 30.— Lichfield ( County).— For stealing at Cheslyn Hay 31st ult., a watch and chain ( re- covered).— WILLIAM PENDRY alias RUDD, age 21, height 5 ft. 8 ins., stoops slightly, com- plexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, very large front teeth; dress, brown jackpt and trousers, with blue stripes, dark fancy vest, with green markings, green tie, light green check cap, lace boots. A butcher, native of Streetley, near Bir- mingham. Warrant issued. 31. Lichfield ( County).— For stealing a RUDGE WHI'nVORTH bicycle at Brownhills, 17th inst.— HERBERT FREEMAN, age 22, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( large curly fringe on forehead) dark brown, eyes grey, " Emma" tattooed on one forearm; dress, dark suit and cap, muffler, lace boots. A miner, supposed a native of Chasetown, near Walsall. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Oakden, Lichfield. 32.— Stoke- on- Trent ( County).— For ob- taining by false pretences 19th inst., a youth's dark blue serge suit, sacque shape, vertical pockets, buttons to match ; 1 white keyless watch and chain, and 7/ 6— A. W7ILLIAMS, age about 50, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion ruddy, pock marked, clean shaved, cut right side of nose; dress, dark jacket and trousers, green cap. Stated he was a native of Warrington. Promised the injured party that he could obtain him a situation, and told him to bring a suit of clothes and some money, sent the lad to a fictitious address at Stafford, and ab- sconded. , , Warrant issued.
