XXVII., No. 2756. 1, All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOB OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YABD, LONDON, S. W. 8. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the Krst instance for cost of engraving sketches. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent ; and if the name of such person is required to he inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. 4. s 6, Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. SPECIAL NOTICE. THE amount of stolen property at present " circu- lated " by the Metropolitan Police has become so in- ordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very considerably. It has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the " circulation " in Informa- tions and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for be- lieving that the property has found its way to tho Metropolis. Chief Constables are requested accor- dingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send with them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it will be assumed that the " circulation " of the particulars they contain is not desired. The same course will be followed with respect to property lost and persons missing. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. A native of London, has served in the Army. On discharge from the Bedford Hospital he obtained the above articles and money from the wife of a patient by producing a letter purporting that they were required by her husband who was being sent to a home. PEMBROKESHIRE. 22.— Fishguard ( County).— For stealing £ 9 from his lodgings, at Goodwick, 14th inst. — REGINALD FURZELAND, age 27, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., stoops slightly, complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, large nose, wears glasses when reading ; dress, brown suit, light overcoat. Carried a white frail containing carpenter's tools, also brown leather hand bag. A carpenter, native of Bridgwater. He came from London on 7 th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. A hotel manager, native of Oxford. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to Supt. Campbell, Handsworth. 24.— Lichfield ( County).— For leaving their children chargeable to the Tamworth Union, 24th March, 1906, 13th October, 1909 and 3rd June, 1908, respectively— ALBERT OLNER, alias SQUINEY, age 33 or 34, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build, complexion sallow, hair, moustache and eyes brown, weak knees, swings right leg, a squeaky voice. A native of Polesworth. Is fond of billiards. See Case No. 40, 9th October, 1908. THOMAS BRIDGWATER, age about 40, height about 5 ft. 9 in., complexion ruddy, hair dark, eyes brown, tattooed both arms, slouching gait; dress, old dark jacket, vest, and cap, brown cord trousers, heavy lace boots, may be wearing a blue slop. A native of Weeford, Staffs. CHARLES STARKEY, age 44, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion sallow, hair and moustache brown, turning grey. Warrants issued. SUSSEX ( East). 28.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— For stealing, 9th inst., a nearly new Star road racer bicycle, 23- in. frame, enamelled black, plated rims, Dunlop tyres, sloping frame, with raised handle- bars, 26- in. wheels, mud- guards with 28- in. stays, cranked, 2 hand- rim brakes, No. 111393— ADOLPH KOHL, a German, age about 24, height about 5 ft. 4 in., complexion fair, hair and small moustache light; dress, blue serge lounge suit, fawn colour mackintosh, white wrapper, black hard felt hat. Warrant issued. 29.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 1 by false pretences— FRED RUSSELL, age about 30 ( looks younger), height about 5 ft. 8 in., rather slight build, complexion fresh, thin face, hair brown, clean shaved, addicted to drink; dress, black and white speckled lounge suit, cap. Webster " left forearm, pronounced erup- tion on neck and chin. May be employed as boots or assistant waiter at hotels. Warrant issued.
