All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THB EDITOB OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NBW SCOTLAND FABD, LONDON, S. W. 8. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue » f the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. A. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5 Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6.9. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6- 9. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such ptrson is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZBTTB, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office. New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Hissing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZBTTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows:— ( a) All persons coming within Sections 5, 7, or 8, of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( b) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one month's imprison- ment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendiary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one month's imprisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the following offences:— Aliens ( See. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Robbery. Sacrilege. Sheep stealing. Shopbreaking. Suspected person. Unlawful possession. Uttering counterfeit coin. Warehouse- breaking. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been previously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contain the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction or convictions if possible, also the No. published in the list of Habitual Criminals. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. A native of Ramsgate. 6. — N Division.— For stealing £ 10 — ROBERT WAINWRIGHT, alias HEATH, age 26, height 5 ft. 7in., slight build, complexion, hair and eyes very dark, cheeks sunken ; dress, dark tweed jacket and vest, blue serge trousers, light green peak cap, lace boots. A pastry cook. He visited a relative, and when left alone committed the larceny and decamped. 7.— P Division.— For gambling with ' coloured cloth and block— HENRY HENDERSON, alias OSWALD TURNER, Office No. S/ 10098, age 27, 5 ft. 3 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown, clean shaved, " F. A farm bailiff, supposed a native of Huntingdonshire. Is believed well known at Northampton, Thrapston, Bushey, Potters Bar, Enfield and Rugby. Absconded 22nd ult. Warrant issued. H. or R. I." inside, white or black ribbons, lace boots, nearly new, carried a pair of scissors attached to chain. Stated she was a nurse at Manchester and came to Altrincham for a month's rest. He called at a house, sold a packet of tea for 3s., stating that the purchaser would receive a bonus of £ 1 on a certain date. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Okell, Altrincham. 17.— Birkenhead ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) a bicycle at Little Sutton, during April— FRED SMITH, age 26, height 5 ft. 7£ in., com- plexion fresh, hair ( nearly bald) light brown, eyes brown, cut mark on chin, high cheek bones, can speak German, fond of betting; dress, grey suit, square cut jacket, grey striped overcoat, dark knitted tie, hard felt hat, brown boots. Warrant issued. 19-— Liscard ( County).— For obtaining credit to the amount of £ 2 15s., by false pretenoes— ALBERT VICTOR HILL, age 21, height 5 ft. 3 in., slight build, complexion fresh, high forehead ( lump on right side), hair dark brown, clean shaved, Lan- cashire accent; dress, grey striped tweed suit, dark blue tie, hard felt hat, new boots, carried a black shabby overcoat. DENBIGHSHIRE. 20. — Wrexham ( County). — For stealing ( bailee) 23rd ult., a camera and six slides.— HARRY SMITH, age 30 to 35, height about 5 ft. 5 in., stout build, clean shaved; dress, blue coat, green cap, breeches, light brown boots with broad toes, grey and black striped overcoat. A photographer's canvasser, native of Liverpool. May have in his possession a number of cards " Alf Val Atkin, photographer, Hill Street, Rhostyllen, near Wrexham," thereon. Warrant issued. A kitchen lad. Is believed to have with him, a black enamelled bicycle, gold lined, 22 in. frame, sloping top tube, reversible north road bars, combination head iclip, Bowden back brake, free wheel, fitted with the Speed tyres, the Favourite transfer on head, seat tubes, no mudguards. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. DERBYSHIRE. 21.— Chesterfield ( County).— For stealing £ 3 from his lodgings at Langwith, 10th inst.— HARRY PAYNE, alias E. KNIGHT and SLENN, age about 27, height about 6 ft., good build, com- plexion fresh, hair light, small moustache ginger, eyes blue, lump left side of head, left thumb con- tracted, hands scorched and blackened, large horse- shoe with horse's head tattooed left forearm, female with wings on shoulders, left arm ; dress, blue serge suit, blue muffler, green cap, brown boots. A labourer, supposed a native of Portsmouth. Is believed to have served in the Marines, and now making his way to Portsmouth for training. Warrant issued. ESSEX. 22.— Chelmsford ( County).— For obtaining food between llth March and 2nd ult. by false pre- tences— ADA SORE, age about 40, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes ( piercing) very dark, several front upper teeth artificial; dress, black and white small check costume, grey fur, grey straw hat turned up one side, trimmed velvet or ribbon and feathers, occasionally wears a long dark green coat. A housekeeper. Left Chelmsford 30th ult. for Liverpool Street, London, and had with her a tin trunk, 1 straw- colour dress basket, 1 or 2 hat boxes, and a large black cat in a basket. A marine : fireman. Absconded 13th ult. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 24.— Bristol { City).— For stealing £ 1 Is. from his lodgings— REGINALD GORDON FURSLAND, age 24, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache light; dress, brown suit, green cap, carried a small brown portmanteau, containing tools. HAMPSHIRE. 25.— Romsey ( County).— For stealing, 25th ult., a jacket, hat and 10s.— FRANCIS NOBLE, age 22, height 5 ft. 4 § in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue, scar front right knee, centro of back, and right side of head; dress, light striped jacket, blue vest, K. R. R. uniform trousers, cotton shirt with white turndown collar, black bowler hat, military boots. Is a deserter from the Kings Royal Rifles. A native of Thornaby, Yorks. Ilad with him a bicycle. HEREFORDSHIRE. 27.— Ross ( County).— For fraud and stealing £ 1, at Garway, 27th March last— CHARLES COOPER, age about i42, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, com- plexion fresh, hair and heavy moustache dark, abrupt speech ; dress, light grey tweed jacket, dark trousers and vest, strong lace boots. A tramping blacksmith. Believed a native of Dilwyn. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marston, Ross. HER TFORDSHIRE. 28.— Hitchin ( County).— For stealing 4th inst., a 4^- h. p. twin cylinder Minerva motor bicycle, Chater Lea fittings, spring forks, fitted with oil and petrol guage, Brooks' saddle, hand front hub brake, lamp, horn and watch stand, black enamelled, plated wheels and forks, Palmer front tyre, steel studded non- skid back tyre, Index No. B. M. 781— WILSON, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 8 in., complexion dark, impediment in speech ; dress, dark morning coat and trousers. A native of Kensington, London. The owner advertised the machine for sale, received a telegram 4th inst. asking him to meet Wilson at Hitchin same day, and after entering into negotiation for purchase, asked to test the machine, and absconded. KENT. • 29.— Ramsgate ( Borough). — For obtaining by a worthless cheque, 7th inst., a lady's 2- stone cross- over diamond and olivine ring, " 49 M/ O/- R/ R/-" marked inside; 1 do. five- stone diamond and ruby ring, collet shape, stones set in silver, plain setting, « 44 E/-/- or B/ D/- R/ R/-" marked inside— NEVILLE RAYMOND STEVENSON CARTER, age 29, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion dark, small features, hair black, clean shaved, eyes brown, Ducal crown and H. S. G. on right forearm, Olive left forearm; wearing dark suit, soft grey tweed hat. A dental surgeon, formerly in business at Canterbury. May seek employment as a seaman on ships leaving the country, or may be travelling the provinces in com- pany of an actress. Warrant issued. LARKIN, age 19, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion dark, large nose, hair black, eyebrows meet; dress, blue serge suit and cap. A clerk. Warrant issued. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 34.— Doncaster ( County).— For attempted murder at Woodlands, 9th ult.— JOHN COURTNEY, alias McGUIRE and McDONALD, age 40, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, may be clean shaved or have grown dark ginger whiskprs and moustache, eyes blue, large nose, scar on bridge, slight suspicion of limp in left leg, addicted to drink ; dress, dark jacket with grey stripes, fustian vest ( sleeves have been cut out), and trousers, repaired at fork with white calico, coloured muffler 35.— Goole ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings, by false pretences, 4th to 11th March last— with white stripes, grey cap with dark stripes, heavy boots cut around tops. A labourer, native of Louth. Has been employed as a pit sinker and bricklayer's labourer, may seek employment on isolated farms, or attempt to work his passage abroad. Had in his possession a brass keyless watch. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, County Police Office, Wakefield. GEORGE TURNER, alias DAVID MONK, age 40 to 45, height about 6 ft., weight about 18 st., com- plexion sallow, hair dark, supposed blind left eye, Southern accent. A native of Leicester.
