All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR or THE POLICB GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. I. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if ivfficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be cleurly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photoprayh or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. Every announcement, if for th » apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in fc. rce against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 10. 11 13. 13 14. 9TS. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents er stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be _ given on application. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. IN most cases in which Licence- holders and Supervisees residing in the Provinces fail to report themselves and whose arrest is consequently desired, the Editor is requested to insert the particulars in the GAZETTE. Stated at Preston, 29th ult., his intention of proceeding to Liverpool, but did not report there. A pit pony driver; supposed a native of Barnsley. May seek work in a colliery. Ab- sconded 19th inst. Warrant issued. 11. — Renishaw { County). — For causing grievous bodily harm, at Whitwell, 11th ult.— THOMAS GRIMBLEY, age 46, height 5 ft. 10 in., complexion fresh, thin face, hair and short mous- tache brown ( turning grey), eyes grey, long neck; drees, black jacket suit, black cap. A collier; native of Thornton, Leicestershire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Andrew, Renishaw, near Chesterfield. DEVONSHIRE. 12. — Torquay { County). — For stealing 2 cycles ( recovered)— KENNETH TATEM, age 22, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., slight build, complexion fair, hair light brown,, eyes blue, very thin legs; dress, blue serge suit, brown boots. A native of Appledore, Devon. He was employed driving a steam motor ' bus from Paignton to Torquay. May be found spending money freely. Is fond of motor- ing. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to Supt. Roberts,, Torquay. DUMFRIESSHIRE. 18.— Dumfries { County).— For contravention of the Old Age Pension Actj, 1908— EMMA WARMSLEY, alias SILKER, age about 60, height about 5 ft., complexion swarthy, hair ( turn- ing grey) dark; dress, black jacket, dark skirt, clogs, usually wears a shawl. A pedlar or hawker; native of Warrington. Is accompanied by her Husband, age about 70, height about 5 ft. 2 in., complexion swarthy, hair and whiskers dark ( turn- ing grey); wearing dark overcoat, soft felt hat, clogs. They travel the country with a donkey and cart, " G. Silker, Dealer, Lochmaben" painted on off side, sell paper flags and gather bottles. May have disposed of the donkey and cart. • Warrant issued. DURHAM. 14.— South Shields { Borough).— For forging seamen's advance notes— RICHARD SMITH, age 52, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown ( turning grey), eyes blue,, several scars on forehead, 4 cut scars front of throat, anchor front right forearm, blue dot front left do., ends of 1st, 2nd and 3rd left fingers de- formed, walks badly. Is well known at shipping ports on the Bristol Channel, and will be found about docks, shipping offices and seamen's out- fitters; associates with seamen and prostitutes. Has been convicted at Cardiff and North and South Shields. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, South Shields. ESSEX. 15.— Chelmsford { County).— For stealing ( person), 14th inst., a black leather purse; 1 silver Volunteer medal, dated 1872, " Welcome to Ghent" inscribed thereon; 1 silver Conservative challenge medal, " C. E. Rippon, C. C. C.," thereon; several silver coins; 1 gold horseshoe pin ( broken); 2 pairs gold earrings, representing small stars; 2 plain gold studs; 1 small diamond— A MAN, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., stout build, com- plexion fresh, round face, hair light, believed light moustache; wearing light brown coat, light hat. He arrived from London by 12 noon train, 14 th inst., and returned by the 1.38 p. m. train same date. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. HAMPSHIRE. 16.— Portsmouth { Borough).— For being concerned with George Edward Marston ( in cus- tody) charged with conspiracy— HYMAN HENRY POLINSKly, alias POLLAND, age 19 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion sallow, hair black, slight moustache, curled at ends, eyes brown. A jeweller; native of London. May be found hawking cheap jewellery. Warrant issued. 17.— Portsmouth { Borough).— For failing to report— Licence- holder HARRY S. Warrant issued. 26.— Liverpool { City).— For stealing a ring and a brooch from a dwelling house, 7th inet.— MAGGIE ROBERTS ( supposed false), age 35, height 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, thin face, hair and eyes brown. She called at a house to enquire about lodgings and stated she was to undergo an opera- tion,. • » Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 27.— Bolton { Borough).— For conspiring to obtain goods by false pretences— GEORGE WIL- SON ( supposed false), age about 45, height 5 ft. . 5 or 6 in., stout build, complexion fresh, full face, hair dark, very slight moustache, walks erect; dress, dark jacket suit, cap— BOG JOHNSON ( supposed false), age about 30, height about 5 ft. 10 in., clean shaved, walks erect; dress, dark grey jacket 6uit, hard felt hatt, brown boots. They rented a warehouse on 29th March last also a shop in the same neighbourhood ( which they used as a letter call office), had alterations made, ordered printed order forms, postcards, envelopes, labels, & c., " George Wilson & Co., merchants and manufac- turers and general house furnishers, Church Wharf, Bolton ( warehouse and works, Dorset Street)," thereon. Sent orders on forms to firms in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, and other large towns, and suceeded in obtaining bedsteads, dyna- mos, heating apparatus, bicycles, gas fittings, etc. Absconded 30th ult. A large quantity of goods were transferred from Bolton to J. T. Midgley, Salford Goods Station, on 29th April. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constablq, Bolton. 28.— Warrington { Borough).— For stealing a watch ( recovered)— JOHN GREGG, alias WILLIAM CRAGG, age about 45, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., good build, complexion fresh, hair red or auburn ( turning grey), moustache sandy, addicted to drink; dress, black jacket and vest, brown plaid trousers, cap. A jobbing watchmaker; native of Stone- haven or Coatbridge, N. B. Seeks employment at watch repairing shops, and stays at coffee taverns Warrant issued.
