W. 3 Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted m one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to fce taken ( upon them by another force. S. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4 In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must br clearly stated. ft. Portraits of persons whose apprehension ia sought lor serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s.. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5i to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. Svery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed I j the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if tht name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. kTioars. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an oflcir of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 8. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to thi number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any annoue*- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 11 All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Poll Office. 11. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. LANCASHIRE. 19.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining 1 in., complexion swarthy, long features, hair dark, eyes black, artificial teeth, London accent; dress, navy blue costume trimmed white, fawn colour velvet hat, black veil. 2nd, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 4 in., complexion fresh, round features, hair light, eyes blue; dress, black skirt, black jacket with smoked pearl buttons, navy blue hat with quill). They obtained money under the pretence that they were agents for a clothing club and would supply clothing on the weekly payment system. Warrant issued. 20.— Liverpool ( City).— For neglecting to notify his change of residence— Licence holder FREDERICK FORD, alias DRISCOLL and JOHN DONOGHUE, Office No. 1781- 03, age 33, height 5 ft. 8 § in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, eyes grey, large scar right side of forehead, between eyebrows and bridge of nose, scar back of right forearm, tip of 3rd right finger disfigured, 2 scars on right shoulder blade, scar front of left fore- arm, faint tattoo mark back of left forearm, several scars on front of chest. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 21— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining £ 15 by false pretences ( bogus cheque), 5th inst. — GEORGE PUGH, age about 40, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, hair brown ( turning grey), clean shaved thin com- pressed lips, of smart appearance, speaks slowly. Prior to 5th inst. he called on tradesmen, informed them that he had taken premises and would shortly open business as a pork butcher, obtained an introduction to the manager of a local bank and arranged to open an account. He paid in a cheque, No. Bt3+ 038, for £ 210, drawn on the United Counties Bank, Ltd., Colmore Row, Birmingham, signed by " Henry Smith & Sons," and made payable to George Pugh. He desired an immediate advance of £ 50, but on being refused asked for and obtained an advance of £ 15. The cheque was from a book issued in February last to " Kdmund Seymour, 147, Corporation Street, Birmingham." Warrant issued. 23.— Manchester ( City).— For stealing £ 90, 9th inst.— CYRIL GREGORY BESWICK, age about 30, height •> ft 10 in., complexion ruddy, hair sandy, heavy moustache ( turned up at the ends) ginger, long features, receding forehead; dress, brown mixture jacket suit with deep roll on jacket collar, black hard felt hat, long brown mixture rough overcoat, lace boots, of military appearance. A native of Manchester, and for several months past has been employed as a cashier. Absconded 9th inst, may endeavour to leave the United Kingdom. Warrant issued. 24.— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining money by false pretences— JOHN GILLESPIE, age about 40, height 5 ft. 9 in., well built, com- plexion pale, fall round features ( inclined to be bloated), hair dark ( turning grey) clean shaved, walks erect; dress, navy blue suit, knotted tie, patent leather boots, left boot cut owing to a corn on one toe, an inveterate cigarette smoker, addicted to drink Supposed native of London. He took a suite of offices in a central position in the City during April and May and carried on business as The National Association of British Art, purchased a quantity of pictures from a local dealer, and employed a few females ostensibly for the purpose of hand- colouring some of the pictures, receiving callers and as typists. He then had printed a large quantity of well- got- up circulars and circulated them freely in distant parts of the country, announcing that " in order to save the enormous cost of newspaper advertise- ments " he had decided for the purpose of advertising his pictures to introduce a Cash Bonus t'cherue whereby he would give to every person who sent a cheque or postal order for £ 1 before a certain date a bonus of £ 2 ; to every person who sent £ 2 he would give £ 4, and to every person who sent £ 5 he would give £ 10; also that an " official organ " entitled " Ah Gold!" would be published by the Association monthly. The scheme was so arranged that the money was received before payments became due, and it is doubtful if any payments were made other than by bogus cheques. Warrant issued. DAY, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., stout build, complexion dark, full face, hair brown, full eyes. poini<- it nose; dress, brown suit with green shades. SUSSEX ( East). 27.— Eastbourne ( Borough). — For em- bezzling £ 8 16s. 4d. between 15th and 29th ult,— STANLEY WRIGHT, age 33 to 35, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion pale, hair brown, thin moustache ( pointed), near sighted, wears glasses ; dress, new dark tweed suit with red stripes, white straw sailor hat, lace boots. A painter and decorator. Had in his possession a " Beeston- Humber" bicycle, gold lined, " No. 77o83" over front wheel. Absconded 6th inst. Warrant issued.
