THE EDITOR requests that Chief Officers of Police, when forwarding for identification by the Metropolitan Police the L'hotographs and descrip- tive forms of Persons in custody, will please see that the specific offence is stated, e. g. :— Stealing £ 1,000 from bank ; stealing pair of boots from shop door ; stealing bale of silk, van unattended, Ac., & c This may often prove a ready means of recognition, and Judges have recently complained of the absence of such particulars in dealing with previous convictions. CHESHIRE. 10. — Altrincham ( County).— For obtain- ing money by false pretences— — COLE, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion sallow, wrinkles on face, hair dark, eyes brown, decayed teeth; dress, blue print skirt with white spots, grey three- quarter length jacket, black sailor hat, wearing gold drop earrings, wedding and keeper rings. Carried a small green tin trunk, handle on top. She sold a dry polishing powder, which she represented as Carter s patent, but was after- wards found to be coloured sand. Warrant issued. For obtaining £ 4 by false pretences, 22nd ult.— JOHN KNIGHT, age 40, height 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, complexion pale, thin face, clean shaved, very bad front teeth. Accompanied by his WIFE, age about 32, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., thin face; and TWTO CHILDREN ( Boy age 8, and a baby). He answered an advertisement in the Era for a dog, and asked that the money for some be wired to a post office, he cashed the order and absconded. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. DURHAM. 14.- Stockton- on- f ees ( County).— For stealing, between 1st and 21st ult., a quantity of copper and lead ( recovered)— THOMAS IRVING, alias TYSON, age 42 to 45, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., rather stout build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark ( turning grey), very talkative; dress, dark jacket and trousers, blue linen jacket, scarf, dark cap. A slater and plumber; native of Carlisle. Has been staying at a common lodging house, and was accompanied by A WOMAN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., stout build, com- plexion and hair dark, star tattooed on one arm, usually wears a shawl. ESSEX. 15.— Chelmsford ( County).— For neglect- ing to maintain his wife arid 2 children, whereby they became chargeable to the Chelmsford Union — HARRY NUNN, age 25, height about 5 ft. 5 in., complexion very fresh, round face, hair brown. A French polisher; native of Chelmsford. Is travelling the country, accompanied by a Man, buying antique furniture, & c. Warrant issued. For leaving his 2 children chargeable to the Chelmsford ' Union— JOHN Wild JAMS, age 40 to 45, height about 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, oval face, high forehead, hair ( rather thin) and moustache ( thick, drooping) brown, flat feet, walks with hands clasped behind him, and turns his toes inwards; dress, dark suit, black hard hat. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. A reward of £ 2 will be paid by the Guardians of the Chelmsford Union, for the arrest of either of the above. Biggs, Stroud. 19.— Bristol I'' ity .-— For absconding with £ 500, after having being adjudicated a bankrupt SAMUEL LEWIS, a Russian Jew, age about 40, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., thick set, complexion sallow, hair ( curly) and moustache dark brown or black, bald on top of head, greenish- blue eyes; usually wears light clothes. Speaks English moderately. A glazier, has also dealt in jewellery for several years. He became a naturalised British subject in August last, and had his papers with him. Is a desetrter from the Army Veterinary Corps. Absconded 23rd ult. May endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. 21. — Aldershot ( County). — For scaling £ 6, 10th inst.— A MAN, age 23 to 25, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fair, hair and mous- tache light; dress, dark brown suit, black hard hat, brown boots. A tailor; has served in King's Royal Rifles, and was recently transferred to the Army Reserve. Was accompanied by A WOMAN, age 23 to 25, height 5 ft, 5 in.; dress, short light brown fur jacket, green skirt, large dark hat, lace boots. Information to Supt. Kemp, Dartford. 28.— tianterbury ( City). — For deserting his wife and family, 25th September last, whereby they became chargeable to the Canterbury Union— EDWARD JOSEPH DELAHAYE, age 33, height 5 ft. 9J in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache light brown ( may now be wearing a beard), eyes grey, walks erect, swinging gait, ad- dicted to drink, frequents low beer houses and common lodging houses. A tailor. May be found employed at tailor's shops at barracks, and assume the name of Daley. Warrant issued. LANCASHIRE. 29.— Leigh ( Countu).— For failing to sur- render to his bail at Liverpool Assizes, 28th ult., on a charge of child- stealing— JOHN ERNEST McINTYRE, age 51, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion fresh, hair black, eyes brown; dress, brown mixture suit, plaid cap, blue and white collar and front, laced boots. Cocker, Leigh. 30 . — Liver stool ( City).— For obtaining goods by false pretences, 29th ult.— H. OLIVER WILLIS ( supposed false), age about 30, height about 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, complexion very florid, hair dark, clean shaved; wearing dark clothes and hard hat. He ordered goods from a shop, and in payment grive a cheque. No. Ju8 ^ 8. on the Manchester and County Bank, Ltd., from a cheque book, stolen from Manchester, where he is also wanted. Warrant issued. For embezzlement— FREDERICK WRIGHT, age 27, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, complexion sallow, clean shaved; dress, grey suit, hard felt hat. A traveller. Absconded 7th ult. Warrant issued. A labourer; native of Deptford. Sentenced at Norfolk Assizes, 29th October, 1902, to 5 years penal servitude for stackfiring. Licensed 27th July, 1906. c 506. To be dealt with where found.
