All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, anil engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10s. .4 remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. LT ION S. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and us fur as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one'side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in adcance. either at the office. . This may often prove a ready means of recognition, and Judges have recently complained of the absence of such particulars in dealing with previous convictions. She calls upon jewellers, requests to be shown articles suitable for wedding presents, or represents that she is connected with a local Sunda- School and wishes to make a present, but leaves without making a purchase. 5.— N Division.— For stealing, 13th inst., a mare ( recovered)— WILLIAM WOOD, age 60 to 65, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair grey, clean shaved, eyes blue; dress, black jacket, white pearl buttons, brown vest, pearl buttons, grey trousers, patched left knee, coloured necker- chief, brown motor cap, heavy lace boots, large nails in heels. A BE RDE ENS HIRE. 6.— Aberdeen (^ owty).— For fraud at Dyce, 14th inst,— GEORGE WADSWORTH, age about 20, height about 5 ft. 7 in., liair reddish, clean shaved, rather thick lips, palms of hands red; dress, brown tweed jacket suit with light stripes, bluish grey peak cap, small red tie, cycling shoes. He called on a clergyman at Dyce, repre- sented that his father was a builder at Ashton, near Wigan, and that he had been to Dundee in search of his aunt, where he was told that she had removed to Aberdeen, and at the latter place he was informed that she was now residing at Dvce. On being acquainted that his aunt was not known at Dvce, he stated he was short of cash, thereby obtained £ 1 3s. to pav his return railway fare. Is believed to be wanted at Carlisle and elsewhere. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Aberdeen. BEDFORDSHIRE. 7. — Bedford ( Borough). — For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences— FRANK WARBURTON, age 29. height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion fair, hair brown, clean shaved, 2 front unner teeth prominent; dress, blue jacket sui: brown plaid peak cap, turned up at back, buttoned at sides, dark blue tie, lace boots, wore a double rolled gold Albert, and 2 watches. Had with him a bicycle, free wheel, black enamelled, { slated rims, mudguards, front rim brake, " Silvertown " tyres. Stated he was an advance agent for a theatrical company. Warrant issued. BERKSHIRE. 8.— Walling ford ( County).— For assault, 15th inst., and using threats— HENRY COBLEY, age about 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes dark, scar over right eye and on left cheek; dress, blue serge suit, black bowler hat. A carriage painter; native of Bradwell, Wolverton. Bucks. Absconded 19th inst, Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hearness, Wallingford. BRECONSHIRE. 9.— Crickhowell ( County).— For obtain- ing, by false pretences, at Brvnmaur, 22nd Sep- tember last, a gold wedding ring; 1 lady's gold watch : 2 silver lever watches: 2 metal watches— ISRAEL EPSTEIN, age 31, height 5 ft. 7i in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, eyes grev. wart on right little finger. Has been employed as a labourer in coal mines. May have in his possession a Pedlar's Certificate, issued at Crickhowell, 5th September, 1905. ( See Case No. 10.) LEWIS ( supposed false), age about 35, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., com- plexion pale, hair and heavy moustache brown; wearing dark overcoat, black felt hat. He answers advertisements in the Exchange and Mart and other papers. Warrant issued. 12.— Aylesbury ( Co > nty . - E- c< ped from Buckinghamshire Lunatic Asylum, at Stone, 4th inst.— EDWIN GRUBB, age 42 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 7 in., hair and beard ( short) dark ( turning grey), scar back of head; dress, dark brown tweed suit, dark cap, red tie, blue worsted stockings, blucher boots, buckle across front, all marked " Bucks County Asylum," or " Bucks C. A." A tramping cabinet maker; supposed a native of Warwickshire. May be found singing in the streets, sleeping out, or at common lodging houses. He was convicted at Bucks Assizes, June, 1904, of stack firing, found to be of unsound mind and ordered to be detained during His Majesty's pleasure. Supposed a native of Liverpool, where she was seen on 10th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. McDonald, Liscard. 15.— Hyde ( Borough).— For h on - making and stealing a silver watch ( recovered); 1 lady's silver Waltham lever watch, small gold cased guard attached; 1 gun metal watch, out of repair; 1 striped woollen shirt, turned down collar; 1 pair grey trousers; 1 light grey jacket with narrow red and green stripes— RICHARD SMITH, alias HOWARTH ( who pledged the watch, recovered, 1st inst., at Ashton- under- Lyne), age about 60, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion fresh, hair, whiskers ( closely trimmed) and bushy eyebrows white ; wearing dark clothing and hard felt hat.— A MAN, age about 46, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., hair dark; wearing black jacket and vest, grey and black mixture cap, blue sateen shirt with white stripes. Ladmanlow, 2nd inst.— PATRICK LYONS, alias CLYNES and LYNCH, age 23 or 24, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., broad set, square shoulders, com- plexion fresh, large round face, hair ( inclined to curly) and slight moustache dark, eves and eye- brows ( which meet in centre) dark, carries head downward, walks with hands in jacket pockets, speaks rather quickly; dress, dark jacket, cord vest and trousers, heavv nailed boots, usuallv wears silk muffler. A navvy; native of Clumer, Charles- town, Mayo. Absconded 6t. h inst. May be found on public works or at a farm. James, Buxton. 17. — Woodville ( County).— For obtaining £ 2 lis., by false pretences, at Swadlincote, 8th inst.— EDWARD HUGHES, age about 38, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build, complexion fresh, rather sunburnt, hair dark brown, short stub' moustache, eyes brown ; dress, dark grev worsted suit, slightly ribbed, grev cap, white rubber collar, shoes. He produced a letter, on paper, with Midland Railway Company ( Burton and Ashbv Light Railways), Swadlincote, near Burton- on- Irent," printed heading signed " J. Toulmin, Manager, or John Shaw, Assistant Manager," ask- ing for the money to be advanced to the assistant manager, as the bank was closed. Also wanted at Northampton. Warrant issued. DORSETSHIRE. 18.— Poole ( County).— For deserting his wife and 3 children, leaving them chargeable to the Poole Union, 30th ult.— EDWARD THOMAS MATTHEWS, age 30, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion dark, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes brov. n, large cut scar back right hand. A butcher; native of Poole. Has been employed at Godalming, Surrey, and Havant, Hants. Photograph can be seen on annlication. A licensed victualler. Has served in the Army, and for some years in South Africa, where he may endeavour to proceed, or be found at race meetings. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. HAMPSHIRE. 26. — Aldershot ( C. un'y). — For stealing, 15th inst., £ 98 (£ 53 gold, £ 45 silver, in London and County Bank bags)— RONALD GOODMAN TUFFIN, age 19f, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, scar bridge of nose; dress, dark grey suit, cuffs on sleeves, check cap, red tie, brown shoes. A fitter's assistant. Is a deserter from the 8th Hussars. Had with him a " New Hudson" racing bicycle, No. 59609. May endeavour to leave the country. Information to Supt. Hawkins, Aldershot. 27.— Alton ( Count*/ V— For stealing a bicycle ( recovered)— DAVID ALEXANDER DUNBAR, age 20, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue. A native of Wood Green, London. Is an absentee from the 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment; wearing khaki uniform. Absconded from Bordon Camp, 14th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. HER TFORDSHIRE. 28.— Hertford ( County).— For stealing ; t gold ring— FREDERICK KNIGHT, age 35 to 40, height a ft. 9 or 10 in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes hazel, wore a white apron. He travels the country and hawks floor cloth from a four- wheeled van. Accompanied by another Man. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Foster, Hertford. 29 .— Hitchin ( County).— For stealing, 12th inst., at Weston, a silk handkerchief; and £ 8—• PRISCILLA ALLEN, alias MANNING, age 33, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes ( supposed) hazel, thin lips, constantly biting her finger nails; dress, dark fawn colour three- quarter length coat, black dress, black silk neckerchief, white sailor hat, wore several gold lings. A native of Bramnton, Hunts. Absconded 12th inst. Accompanied by A MAN, age 20, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in. For several years she has travelled the country in a van, and attended fairs with swings, roundabouts, & c. Warrant issued. Warrant issued. 31.— Ware ( County). — For stealing from his lodgings, 16th inst., a canvas waist belt, red and yellow stripes; 1 lady's old silver Geneva watch, chased back, plain dial, glass missing, " C. Street " stamped inside case, curb pattern Albert, small stone, Bible, and silver compass attached; 1 plain steel chain, small oval red cardboard box, " Salvation Armv Self- Denial " thereon, con- taining 9s.— ROBERT THOMAS TlILDrTCH, alias MARK DORRINGTON, ALBERT MACKENZIE, ALBERT WATSON, and BERT ALBERT, Office No. 1034- 04, age 24, heights ft. 3] in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes grev, scar right wrist: dress, dark grey jacket suit and cap, dark tie, light lace boots, a piece of ribbon sewn on breast of waist- coat. A ship's cook; native of Great Warley. Essex. He travels from town to town, calls at Salvation Army meetings, states he is a member, and belongs to the band, obtains lodgings for one night, commits a larceny, and decamos. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued)- KENT. 33.— Canterbury { County).— For stealing a new nlaid terra cotta silk handkerchief, 15th inst., at Heme— JAMES WOOD, alias FRED PHILLIPS and JAMES PHILPOTT, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., hair and moustache brown, burns on neck and arms, piece out of bottom of left ear. A painter; was discharged for misconduct from the Army Service Corns at Alder- shot. Sentenced at Winchester to 6 months im- prisonment for stealing a bicycle. He took lodg- ing and absconded 15th inst., with the above article. May seek employment on a farm or be found at a casual ward. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jacobs, Canterbury. 34. — Chatham ( County). — For deserting their wives and families, leaving them chargeable to the Common Fund of the Medway Union— WILLIAM CONGRAM, age 35, height 5 ft. 7i in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue.— JOSEPH STATIIERS, age 37, height 5 ft. 4 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue, cast in one eye, sailor left forearm; dress, dark tweed clothes and cap. — WALTER WILLIAM HARPER, age 38, height 5 ft. llg in., com- plexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown, bunch of flowers, 2 females, and rose left forearm; dress, dark suit.— GEORGE PARFITT, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, scar on cheek and forehead, pock marked. Chatham. 35.— Ramsgate ( Borough).— For stealing £ 3, 26th inst.— PATRICK MURPHY, alias WILLIAM MURPHY, an Irishman, age 17, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., square build, full face, one front upper tooth missing, small cut on left big toe, slightly lame; dress, black pilot jacket, velvet collar, blue guernsey, " J. W." or " W." thereon, grey trousers with dark stripe, blue cap with yellow lining, low shoes.
