SPECIAL NOTICE. FUGITIVE OFFENDERS. A case has come under the notice of the Editor, in which a person whose apprehension was sought dn England, and who was described in the POLICE • GAZETTE, gave himself up to the Colonial Police. The prosecutor declined to take any further . action in the matter, but the case necessitated the dispatch of two telegrams, the ,< jost of which had • to be refunded by him. To avoid such expense, the Editor requests that if there is reason to believe that a fugitive offender - is likely to go to the Colonies, and the prosecutor is unwilling to incur any expense with a view to obtain his surrender, a notification be made in the • communication sent to this Office to the effect that the offender is not to be arrested beyond the United Kingdom. The necessity for the adoption of such a course • will be apparent from the fact that the POLICE - GAZETTE is circulated in the Colonies. I APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT.
