A joiner and wood turner; native of Chester. Sentenced at Chester City Quarter Sessions, 2nd July, 1901, to 3 years penal servitude for larceny. Licence re- voked. Hicks, Broxton. 15.— Crewe ( County). — For stealing from his lodgings, a dark grey striped jacket; 1 light dust coat; and 2s. 6d.— HARRY SCOTT, age 26 to 30, height 5 ft. 6| in., complexion fair, full flat face, nose dented at bridge, hair ( close cut) light brown, inclined to sandy, clean shaved, eyes blue, small hole in throat near larynx, swaggering gait, 2 boil scars back of neck; dress, brown jacket, blue trousers with patch of white paint thereon, white muffler, light motor cap with dark stripe, light boots, wearing the stolen dust coat. Appearance of a groom, was employed at a circus. Supnosed native of London, and to have served in the Field Artillery. Absconded 10th inst. Warrant issued. 16.— Crewe ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) a bicycle on or about 18th January last — GEORGE EDWIN WOOD, age 24 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., stiff build, complexion fair, rather round face, hair brown, clean shaved, rather heavy lower jaw ; dress, dark grey coat and vest, grey striped trousers, light grey overcoat, black hard felt hat. A native of Burton- on- Trent. Has been employed as a traveller ; also as an assistant in drapery establishments. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearson, Crewe. DEVONSHIRE. 17.— Exeter ( City\— For failing to report— Licence- holder SAMUEL JOHNS, alias SAMUEL WILLIAMS, ALFRED JOHNS, GERALD VINCENT, and SAMUEL WILLIAM SHOVELL, Office No. 587- 05, age 59, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top), beard and moustache ( cropped short) and eyes grey, scar left of throat, 2 centre and 1 right side neck; dress, dark grey suit, hard black felt hat. A dispenser; native of South Hill, Cornwall. Absconded 14th inst., stating he was going to Bristol. Sentenced at Northampton County Quarter Sessions, 8th January, 1903, to 3 years penal servitude for larceny. Licenced 13th inst. d 9. To be dealt with where found. DORSETSHIRE. 18.— Beamlnster ( County).— For obtain- ing a suit of clothes; 1 pair boots; 2 shirts; and food and lodgings by false pretences, at Catherston — ALBERT NO WELL ( supposed false), age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, clean shaved, cut mark about 2 in. long on one cheek; probably wearing navy blue serge suit and cap. Stated he was a native of Exeter, and that he had been invalided from the Navy. Recently employed as a mason's labourer at Charmouth. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Brooks, Beaminster. ESSEX. 19.— Chelmsford ( County).— On commit- ment Warrant for non- payment of 16s. fine and costs, or 14 days imprisonment in default, im- posed for wilful damage— THOMAS WEBB, age 63, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 in., hair and moustache HAMPSHIRE. 21— Bournemouth ( County).— For steal- ing XI, 16th inst.— WILLIAM ALFRED COOK, age 32, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, tattooed both arms and on chest; dress, pepper and salt colour jacket and vest, blue serge trousers, supposed red tie, light cap. A native of Yeovil. He served in the Dor- setshire Regiment, has since been employed as a navvy. Warrant issued. 22.— Bournemouth ( County).— For steal- ing ( bailee) 4 £ 5 notes, 14th inst.— SILAS MARSH, age 66, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., hair ( bald on top) turning grey, is subject to fits; dress, black suit, dark overcoat, light print tie, soft felt hat, heavy lace boots. Has been employed as an office caretaker. Was seen at Salisbury, 15th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hack, Bournemouth. HER TFORDSHIRE. 23.— Watford ( County).— For burglary, 4th inst., and stealing 6 white tennis shirts ( 4 re- covered) ; 6 Oxford cotton shirts; and a navy blue tie— JOHN FREDERICK LAWRENCE, alias LOVELOCK, age 22, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, butterfly and clasped hands right forearm, sailor and anchor left forearm; dress, dark jacket and cap, light cord or moleskin trousers. A native of Bushey. Has served in the Navy. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Wood, Watford. 27.— Govan ( Burgh).— For Btealing £ 27 5b. — GEORGE GEDDES, age 45 to 48, height 5 ft. 11 in. or 6 ft., complexion fresh, hair and moustache greyish, of smart appearance, walks erect; dress, dark check tweed jacket suit, black felt hat. Has served in the Army and Navy, also in South Africa during the last Boer War. A spirit salesman. May endeavour to go abroad. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable Whitecross, Govan. LANCASHIRE. 28.— Liverpool ( City).— For uttering forged foreign bank notes ( 1 100- Lira Bank of Italy, Nos. 0398- 1987- 7195- 7513, and 2 50- Lira Bank of Naples, Nos. 09118 and 09178), all dated 1896— A MAN, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 7 in., com- plexion sallow, full face, high forehead, hair brown, moustache ( waxed at ends) light, speaks broken English; wearing light colour overcoat, hard felt hat. Supposed a Frenchman. He called at a money changer's, and cashed the above notes, also cashed similar sets of notes at four other money changers'. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Detective Department, Liverpool. 29.— Blackpool ( Borough).— For stealing an 18 ct. gold keyless hunter repeater watch, No. 5223; 1 18 ct. single stone diamond ring, claw setting; 1 do. gold diamond cluster ring; 1 do. stud; 1 do. double Albert, large and heavy dog link pattern, an 1887 Jubilee £ 2 piece, mounted in glass, and an 18 ct. gold match box, U in. by 1 in., opens at end, attached— JAMES W. " HACK, alias STEPHENSON, BARTON, BERTIE, RICHARDSON, RICHARDS, CARR, BARNES, CARROL, and ROBERTSON, age 64, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top) grey, ( hair and moustache may be dyed sandy), eyes blue, 2 scars outside left wrist, scar right fore- arm and inside do., left shoulder, and back of neck; dress, dark suit, light or fawn colour over- coat, hard felt hat. He left behind a portmanteau packed with paper, & c. Information to the Chief Constable, Blackpool. 30.— Lancaster ( Borough).— For rape, 8th inst.— JOHN FOX, age 25, height 5 ft. 9 in., com- plexion fresh, long face, hair light brown, eyes grey; dress, grey jacket suit, long brown over- coat, grey cap, light lace boots. A farm labourer. May endeavour to enlist. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable Harriss, Lan- caster. 31.— Stm Helens ( Borouqh).— For burglary 29th ult.— STANLEY CLITHSI, alias WIL LIAM NAGANESKI, JOSET HOZLAWSKI, and JOSEPH SMITH, a Russian Pole, age about 26, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion fresh, pock marked and freckled, hair red, eyes hazel, speaks English fluently, cut 2nd and 3rd left fingers; dress, dark square cut jacket suit, brown woollen cycling jersey, dark cap, brown canvas shoes. 32.— St. Helens ( Borough).— For house- breaking, 11th inst. — HERBERT JOHNSON, alias MALKIN, age 25, height 5 ft. 8J in.,, com- plexion fresh, round face, hair brown, eyes hazel, old burn outside right upper arm, " P " indistinct outside left wrist, scar under left jaw; dress, old dark overcoat, brown cord trousers, dark cap and clogs A collier; native of Fenton, Staffs. 33. — St. Helens ( Borough).— For ware- housebreaking, 15th inst.— JAMES MOSS, age about 27, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 in., complexion pale, hair dark brown, clean shaved, several cut marks on head; dress, dark suit and cap, black and white plaid scarf; usually wears clogs. LINCOLNSHIRE. 34. — Boston ( County). — For obtaining money by false pretences, 4th inst.— A MAN, who gave the name of ANDERSON or ATKINSON, age about 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., long face, clean shaved, tattooed left wrist; dress, slate colour suit, guernsey, white silk neckerchief, white and black cap, wore a large gold ring. A seaman. Stated he was a quartermaster on a steamship at Liverpool. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Costar, Boston. NOR THAMPTONSHIRE. 35.— Northampton ( Borough).— For forg- ing and uttering a receipt for the payment of £ 1, 6th ult.— WILLIAM SHARMAN, age 30, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion pale, hair, moustache, pnd eyes dark; dress, blue striped jacket suit, light dust coat, dark cap, blue and white knitted tie. Lately employed as manager to a Tea Company. May seek employment as a canvasser. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Northamp- ton. KENT. 24.— Chatham ( County)— For embezzling £ 160— ROBERT or RICHARD VOSPER, age 34, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion fresh ( scurvy), hair light, eyes ( sunken) blue, prominent cheek bones, thin lips; dress, dark grey striped overcoat, blue suit, dark grey cap, lace boots. He was employed as canteen steward on H. M. S. King Alfred, at Chatham. Warrant issued. Information to Supt.
