All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE KDITOR OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S.\ V. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. A. TIOXS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the • number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual jorm} and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Sew Scolland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Announcements concerning property lost or persons missing can only be accepted on payment; and the charges for the insertion of the same wiU be given on application. Stockall, managing director to Messrs. J. J. Stockall & Sons, Limited, wholesale jewellers, 6. 8, and 10 Clerkenwell Road, E. C., to any person giving such information ( by letter or otherwise) as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the two described men. A further sum of £ 400 will be paid by the said Thomas J. BEDFORDSHIRE. 7.— Biggleswade ( Cm- ruy).— for steal ing, 17th inst., a silver lever watch, " S F 1901 " scratched on inside case, little hand missing—- WILLIAM COOPER, age about 23, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion fair, hair light, clean shaved, eyes blue, tattooed both arms, wearing a ring on right little finger; dress, dark jacket and vest, dark grey trousers, red tie, light check cap, brown boots ( have been blacked over). He took lodgings and represented that he was a clerk at the local post office. Carried a black patent leather bag. Is believed identical with man des- cribed in Case No. 57, 13th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Baldwin, Biggleswade. 8.— Bedford K<> rnuuh\.— For stealing from his lodgings, 14th inst., a dark overcoat, black buttons, vertical pockets, raised seams across shoulders and around cuffs; 1 silver Geneva watch, keyless, " G. F. Tester," scratched inside of outer case, No. 122490; 1 striped flannelette shirt, nearly new; 1 pair woollen socks, speckled; 1 brown hair brush, rivetted back; 1 comb — A MAN, age about 21, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., com- plexion fair, hair light, clean shaved; wearing dark clothes ( vest double- breasted), brown boots, carried a black patent leather hand bag. Stated he was employed at the Midland Railway Station. Information to Chief Constable Thody, Bedford. BERKSHIRE. 9.— Wokinrtham l< ' ounty).— For obtain- ing 2s. 6d. by false pretences — JAMES SIN- CLAIR, age 30 to 40, height 5 ft. 9£ in., com- plexion, hair, and moustache dark, prominent forehead; dress, dark suit, overcoat and tie, hard felt hat, lace boots. He represented that he was a traveller for a local tailor. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Goddard, Wokingham. BUCKINGHA MS HIRE. 10.— High Wycombe { County).— For ob- taining 5s. by false pretences, 9th inst. — FREDERICK WOOD ( supposed false), age about 22, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fresh, hair and slight moustache dark brown, eyes dark, of smart appearance and good addroes; wearing long dark overcoat, dark navy blue cap, elastic stocking left leg. He calls principally on clergymen, states he is a goods porter on the railway, gives the name of the local station master, with whom he states he is boarding. He then reprosents that he is suffering from varicose veinB, that he wears elastic stockings and kneecaps, which require renewing, but having been out of employment for 3 weeks has no means to obtain them. Stated he was a native of Oxford. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Summers, High Wycombe. DORSETSHIRE. 11.— Portland ( County).— For ofticebreak- ing, 11th inst., and stealing £ 13— HERBERT RICHARD PRIOR, age 24, height 5 ft. 11 in., slight build, complexion pale, hair brown, eyes blue, warts on fingers of one hand, slouching gait; dress, new suit ( supposed dark). A navvy; native of Woolwich. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Ricketts, Portland. DURHAM. 12.— Darlington ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 6th inst., a pair of light lace boots, size 8, uewly soled; and a grey cloth jacket and vest — Licence- holder HARRY OSBORNE, alias GEORGE STEVENS, SAMUEL WIL- LIAMS, JOHN W. ROGERS, HENRY LITTLETON, RICHARD HALLIWALL, RICHARD C. STEVENS, HENRY RICHARDS, and HENRY STEVENS, Office No. 71- 02, Case No. 34, 30th ult., and Tabular Form, 7th Oc- tober last, age 38, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, moustache brown, eyes hazel, scar right wrist and under right jaw, large scar back left hand, which is maimed ( fingers contracted), twitches right eye when speaking; dress, dark jacket suit, hard felt hat, dark tie, carried a gold mounted umbrella. A butcher; native of Cornwall. He took lodgings on 5th inst., gave his name as George Stevens, and stated he was employed by Hudson & Co., dry soap manu- facturers. Sentenced at Bedford Borough Sessions, 8th April, 1902, to 3 years penal servi- tude for larceny. Licenced, 16th July, 1904. C128. Information to Supt. Davison, Darlington. ESSEX. 13.— Colchester ( Borough).— For failing to report— Supervisee JOSEPH CLEAVER, Office No. 2383- 02, age 44, height 5 ft. 3? in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, 2 scars left of forehead, mole front of neck. A tailor; native of London. Sentenced at Bury St. Edmunds Borough Quarter Sessions, 11th January, 1904, to 9 months hard labour and 2 years supervision for larceny. Liberated on remission, 18th September, 1904. 2062. Information to Chief Constable Midgley, Col- chester. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 14.— Gloucester ( County).— For stealing a cash box, containing £ 4; 1 postal order for 13s.; 1 do. for 10s.; a cheque for £ 2 12s.; and a cheque book on the National Provincial Bank, Glouces- ter ANDREW ALFRED STEVENS, alias ALFRED STEVENS, age 18, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, abscess mark left side face, " P " left forearm; dross, black morning coat, dark trousers and cap, white scarf. A native of Islington, London. Has served in the 11th Hussars. Warrant issued. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Harri- son, County Police Office, Gloucester. HEREFORDSHIRE. 16. — Bromyard ' bounty). — For house- breaking, 8th inst., at Norton, and stealing a watch ( recovered) and 8s.— CHARLES BEALE, age 26, height 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, complexion fair, hair brown, slight moustache light; dress, browu overcoat, cord trousers, blue cap, old boots. A labourer; native of Norton. Was discharged from the Royal Artillery at Weymouth. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Lewis, Bromyard. HER TFORDSHIRE. 17. — Hertford ( County). — For stealing from his lodgings, 12th inst., a silver watch, photo- graph of a girl at back, No. 281 X 94, silver chain, with matchbox attached; 1 flannelette shirt, blue, grey and green stripe— A MAN, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in,, scar on left cheek; dress, dark coat and vest, light trousers, black and white stripe cap, lace boots. He took lodgings and stated that he had obtained employment in the neigh- bourhood, committed larceny, and decamped under the pretence of fetching his tools from the railway station. No. 1012- 04, age 30, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown. A labourer; native of Glasgow. Is a dangerous housebreaker.— WILLIAM MURRAY, alms JAMES ANDERSON, A- c., S. C.
