Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought trill be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars us to stolen property icill be likewise inserted in one issue, if su fficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be gii'en, and the cruet conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engrarings of stolen property will he inserted at a cost of loi. per portrait, and of " is. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. LTIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not lets rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as fur us practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recorery. at once transmit to the Editor iwtice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the vert issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should he forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition iwt later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Xew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Announcements concerning property lost or persons missing can only be accepted on payment, and the charges for the insertion of the same will be given on application. E. E. HENRY, Editor. THE EDITOR requests that Chief Officers of Police, when forwarding for identification by the Metropolitan Police the Photographs and descrip- tive forms of Persons in custody, will please see that the specific offence is stated, e. g :— Stealing £ 1,000 from bank ; stealing pair of boots from shop door ; stealing bale of silk, van unattended, & c., & c. This may often prove a ready means of recognition, and Judges have recently complained of the absence of such particulars in dealing with previous convictions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. James, Alton. 20.— Basingstoke { County).— For obtain- ing £ 2 2s. by a worthless cheque on Parrs' Bank, Camden Town Branch, 27th ult.— J. TURNER, alias W. J. EDWARDS and SPINDLER, age about 33, height 5 ft. 9 in., hair, moustache, and eyes dark brown ; dress, dark grey morning suit, soft felt hat, lace boots. Carried a small leather bag. He represented that he was a traveller for the Hotel Linen Drapery Co., London. The above cheque was returned from the bank marked " No account." Information to Chief Constable Barry, Rochdale by whom the above reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thieves, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered.
