All announcements for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD. LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they arc sufficient to enable action to be taken uvon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will he likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be. thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engra vings of stolen property will be inserted at a cost of 15*. per portrait, and of Is. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen art icle. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to he inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or h is immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. LTIONfS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehe nsion or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all eases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will he wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be reeeirrd not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, iYew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Warrant issued. 2.— D Division.— For stealing ( bailee) a diamond single row collett necklet, about 36 carats ; 1 diamond and black cluster pendant, with black pearl drop— K. HYMAN, alias HARRY KING, age about 35, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., com- plexion dark, hair ( slightly bald in front) dark brown, speaks with foreign accent; wearing black frock coat and vest, high silk hat with wide brim. CITY OF LONDON. £ 15 REWARD. 3. — For stealing, 12th ult., a brown cob, 14 hands, hog mane, near hind heel white; set of brass mounted harness; a small ralli cart, body painted dark green, picked out red, black wheels with American stocks and rubber tyres, containing 2 wages books ( red covers) and brown leather band bag— A MAN, age 45, height 5 ft. 7 in , com- plexion pale, moustache ( turning grey) dark; dress, old grey tweed jacket suit, black hard felt hat. Warrant issued. The above reward will be paid by Messrs. Ford & Co., 23 and 24, Paternoster Row, E. DEVONSHIRE. 9.— Exeter ( County).— For stealing £ 7,21st ult., at Alpington— SIDNEY GRAY, age 20, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaved, cast in one eye ; dress, blue serge coat and vest, blue grey trousers, fawn cap, heavy nailed boots. May endeavour to obtain employment as a potman or billiard marker. Has been in an Industrial School. Warrant issued. 10.— Exeter ( County).— For stealing a cash- box containing £ 3, 18th ult., at Lympstone — TWO MEN, 1st, age about 25, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 in., stout build, complexion dark and sunburnt, hair ( curly) and heavy moustache black ; dress, blue serge suit, white straw hat, black band ; 2nd, age about 24, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion light, slight moustache sandy; dress, black jacket and vest, light blue striped trousers, black hard felt hat. DORSETSHIRE. 11.— Weymouth { Borough).— For obtaining £ 2 by false pretences, 10th ult. — TOM PALMER, alias " PEDLAR," age about 30, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., thick set, complexion pale, hair dark, supposed tattooed both arms. Had in his possession a scrap book containing newspaper cuttings. May be found at race meetings. Absconded 10th ult. Warrant issued. Connaught Rangers. 22.— Chatham { County). — For deserting their wives and families, leaving them chargeable to the common fund of the Med way Union— STEPHEN J. DA RUNG, age 50, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, slight mous- tache, eyes ( sunken) grey, 2 cut scars left forearm, several scars round neck ; dress, black jacket and vest, blue guernsey, fustian trousers. A labourer. Has served in the Leicester Regiment. — ALFRED GARDINER, age 42, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fair, hair, beard and moustache black, eyes brown; dress, shabby dark tweed suit. A collier ; native of Heath Charnock. Warrant issued. Information to Acting Supt. Williams, Chorley. 25.— Widnes { County). — For obtaining money by false pretences— JOHN GLP^ NIE ( sup- posed false), age about 40, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in , hair sandy; dress, dark coat, vest and trouseis, white straw hat, shoes. He represented himself as a draper. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Keighley, Widnes. MIDLOTHIAN. 26.— Edinburgh { County).— For embezzle- ment— WILLIAM FYFE, age 45 to 50, height about 6 ft., stout build, complexion, hair, heavy moustache and side whiskers dark, may now be wearing a beard, full face ; dress, old blue serge jacket suit, blue tie, flat crowned hard felt hat which he usually wears on the back of his head. A brewer's traveller and collector; native of Midlothian. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. NORTHUMBERLAND. 28.— Hexham { County). — For inciting to procure abortion — THOMAS CHARLTON, age 19, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion fair, hair and slight moustache light; dress, usually light grey suit and cap. A grocer's assistant; native of Fourstones, Hexham. Absconded in May last. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, County Police Ollice, Morpeth, or to Supt. Robertson, Hexham. ROXBURGHSHIRE. 29.— Jedburgh { County).— For stealing a bicycle ( recovered) and obtaining board and lodgings by fraud, between 13th June last and 2nd ult, at Melrose — R. PAUL JUDIFEIND, age 24 or 2>, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., slight build, hair and slight moustache light, eyes blue, prominent nose and teeth, speaks with a strong German accent; dress, navy blue jacket and vest, light striped trousers, low felt hat, of shabby appearance. Is a good violinist. He represents himself as the son of a wealthy sheep farmer in Australia. ( Supposed identical with Paul Hoffman, Case No. 36, 21st June last). Absconded 2nd ult. Warrant issued. SOMERSETSHIRE. 30. — Bath { City).— For embezzlement— HENRY MILLS, age about 50, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., rather stout build, complexion fair, hair ( inclined to sandy) light brown, clean shaved; dress, dark brown clothes, dark cap, lace boots. A milk carrier. Absconded 8th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable Parry, Bath. STAFFORDSHIRE. 31.— Burslem { County).— For absconding from Werrington Industrial School — JAMES EGERTON, age 15, height 4ft. 10 in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes grey, left little finger injured. — HARRY HARPER, age 14, height 4 ft. 9 in., complexion pale, hair dark brown. A native of Wolverhampton. ( See Case No. 48,28th December last.) A reward of 15s. will be paid by Mr. Benjamin Horth, master of the Werrington Industrial School, for such information as will lead to the arrest of either of the above. 32.— Burslem { County).— For deserting his family, 6th June last— WILLIAM JACKSON, age 35, height 5 ft. 10 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, moustache sandy, eyes blue ; dress, black jacket, cord vest and trousers, cloth cap. WILKINSON, Office No. 1774- 01, age 27, height 5 ft. 2 in., com- plexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, HIA left forearm, brown scar right side of neck, left wrist joint deformed. W. FLINTSHIRE. 13.— Holywell { County).— For embezzle- ment- FRANK DARRALL, ago about 33, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, square shoulders, com- plexion fresh, hair light brown, moustache ( curled at ends) sandy, eyes hazel, carries left" arm straight when walking ; dress, light tweed suit. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 14.— Chipping Campden { County).— For obtaining tood by false pretences— WILLIAM BARTLETT, age 38, height 5 ft. 8 in., rather slight build, complexion pale, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes hazel, slight impediment in speech; dress, blue serge jacket suit, blue tie, brown cap, light boots with square toes. A carpenter ; native of Bloxham, Oxfordshire. Previously convicted at Oxford and Banbury in October and December, 1900, respectively. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones, ChippiDg Campden. 15 — Chipping Sodbury { County).— For robbery— A MAN, age 30 to 40, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion ruddy, large head, hair dark, moustache dark brown, speaks with north country accent; dress, dark jacket, light plaid trousers, cloth cap. Supposed a labourer ; native of Birmingham. Is believed to have served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. ( Concerned with Charles Ratcliffe, Case No. 54.) Information to Supt. Phelps, Chipping Sodbury, 16.— Dursley { County).— For false pretences — A MAN, age about 35, height 5 ft. 9 in., com- plexion, hair and moustache ( turning grey) dark, wears glasses; dress, dark brown jacket and vest, dark trousers, black hard felt hat, lace boots ( all old). He represents that he is employed by a firm of publishers, obtains orders for photo- graphs and gives receipts for money obtained. Had in his possession a camera. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. HER TFORDSHIRE. 18. — Hertford { County). — For stealing, 11th ult., a dark chestnut horse, 5 years, 15 hands 2 in., undocked, shod all round, ring leathers between shoe and hoof on forefeet, off hind fet- lock white, in good condition.— TWO MEN, 1st, age about 50, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., stout build, complexion dark, hair turning grey, clean shaved ; dress, dark morning coat and vest, grey trousers, black hard felt hat. 2nd, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion dark, thin features, hair and moustache dark ; dress, dark morning coat and vest, black hard felt hat. Appearance of horse dealers. Had in their possession a cart, square body, painted brown with brass hanfd rails, " W " in gilt in middle panel of tail- board ; old silver mounted harness, blinkers on bridle. They left behind a bay mare, aged, about 15 hands, white blaze down face, short tail, near hind fetlock white, recently shod, in bad con- dition. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Shore, Hertford. 19•— Hitchin { County).— Forstealing, 9th ult., a pony ( recovered) — WILLIAM DIMMOCK, age about 26, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., slight build, complexion sallow, hair and slight moustache dark, eyes brown; dress, grey jacket and vest, NORFOLK. 27.— Norwich { City).— For stealing, 11th ult., a lady's watch ( recovered) ; 1 gold signet ring, set bloodstone ; 1 gold pin, pearl in centre ; 1 white satin tie; 1 dark blue serge suit—• ALBERT ALLGOOD, age 20, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes dark, abscess scars both sides of neck and on chest; dress, stolen suit and tie, dark blue cap, shoes.
