All announcements for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OK THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SOOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. . 1 Particulars concerning per mm whose apprehension is sought will be inserted rn one isxue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be talien upon them by another force. 3 Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and' the exact conditions must be dearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serums offences, and engravings of stolen property will be inserted at a cost of 15s. per portrait, and of 7s. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 5. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of n » t less ranlt than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is reouired to be inserted and no warrant is in force againxt him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rant than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted > n the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their upprehenvion or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor iwtice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any annou ncement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forivarded so as to be received iwt later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition iwt later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied, by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order or by Post Office Order payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Announcements concerning property lost or persons missing can only be accepted on payment., and the charges for the insertion of the same will be given on application. " R. ANDERSON. Editor. SPECIAL NOTICE In certain cases questions have arisen as to the payment for photographs applied for by Police Forces under Home Office circular of 15tli March, 1897. The Registrar of Habitual Criminals is therefore authorised by the Secretary of State to say that, in any ordinary case, a photograph is not necessary to enable his Department to identify a prisoner, the measurements and finger prints being sufficient for the purpose ; but if a photo- graph is applied for, or if, in any rare case, it should be required to complete the identification, the cost will be charged to the Police Force interested. Both of good address. They advertise in provincial papers for game, etc., and for several months past have obtained large quantities of game and fish, and have traded in the names of LLOYD & PAYNE, HARVEY & BENTLEY, and GEORGE STEVENSON & CO., Fish and Game Merchants, at Regent's Park, London, Maidenhead, and Aylesbury respectively. A milkman ; native of Dagenham, Essex. Absconded in June, 1898. He was a guard on the London, Brighton, A South Coast Railway in 1892, and afterwards sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to 10 months imprisonment for larceny. Warrant issued. ' LEICESTERSHIRE. 30.- Leicester { Borough). For obtaining £ 1( 1 by false pretences— H. A. WALKER, age 25, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion fair, hair light brown inclined to sandy, eyes brown, V shape scar on forehead, rather round shouldered, splay footed; wearing dark grey tweed suit. He repre- sents that he is a collector to an assurance com- pany and advertises for a collector to take over his book, from whom he receives money as a guarantee and then absconds.
