POLICE PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY. NEW SERIES. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1897. VOL. XIV. No. 1461. REGU LATIONS. 1. All announcements for insertion in the POR. ICE GAZETTE, and all communications upon them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OK THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. VV. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZKTTE, if they are sufficient to enah e action to be taken upon them by another force. 3 Partial ars as tn stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must he given, and the exact conditions be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is ••. ought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen jrroperry, will be prominently inserted, xcith detailed particulars, at a cost of 15s. per portrait, and of Is. 6d. per photograph or ske'ch of a stolen article, including the expense ot engraving on wood. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a per son, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rankthan Superintendent; and, if the name of such person be required to be inserted, and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chiej officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property mu* t be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. A nnouncements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and art alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, muit, on their appreh ension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referringto the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases, the officer signing the request for insertion of any announcement, will be wholly re sponsible for any proceedings which may result from such publicaton. 11. Announcems. nts for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only, be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by cheque, crossed " Drummond ds Co.," Post Office Order payable at Parliament- at., Postal Order, or in Stamps. 13. Advertisements are accepted for the POLICE GAZETTE through Mr. James Willing, 125, Strand, London, the sole Agent, who will furnish the rates on application. 14. In the case of Marines not embarked who have deserted from the head quarters of their Divisions, the Army Descriptive Return, aB specified in the 4th Schedule of the Army Act, 1881, should be used.
