THE amount of stolen property at pre- sent " circulated " by the Metropolitan Police has become so inordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very consider- ably. It has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the " circulation" in Infor- mations and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for believing that the property has found its way to the Metropolis. Chief Constables are re- quested accordingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send with them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it - will be assumed that the " circulation]' of the particulars they contain is not desired. The same course will be followed with respect to property lost and persons missing. SPECIAL NOTICE. The Metropolitan Police have received complaints about a so- called " SOUTH KENSINGTON FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION." This business is conducted at 21, Devonshire Street, Bishopsgate Street, E. C., and its only connection with South Kensington is that a room is rented at 8, Exhibition Road, in order to delude the public into supposing it has some association with the Government Science and Art Department. Letters, though addressed there, are, by arrangement with the Post Office, delivered at the City office. A further element of fraud consists in efforts to entrap people into buying frames for the prints supplied. But the fraud is not of a kind that the police can deal with. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT.
