SPECIAL NOTICE. THE amount of stolen property at pre- sent " circulated " by the Metropolitan Police has become so inordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very consider- ably. It has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the " circulation" in Infor- mations and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for believing that the property has found its way to the Metropolis. Chief Constables are re- quested accordingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send wdth them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it will be assumed that the " circulation1' of the particulars they contain is not desired. The same course will be followed with respect to property lost and persons missing. SPECIAL NOTICE. " HOME EMPLOYMENT" advertisements are, speaking generally, to be distrusted as probably fraudulent. A man named Johnson is now adver- tising in this way as " W. JOHNSON AND CO., 12, Dartmouth Street London." He has recently been running a similar business as " COLEMAN AND CO., 33, Old Queen Street, London." His business, though not a fraud in law, is dishonest, and numerous complaints are received respecting it. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT.
