GAZETTE PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY. NEW SERIES. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 1896. VOL. XIII. No. 1343. EEGU ZD- A- TIOlXrS- 1. All announcements for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications upon them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particu'ars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered the name and address of some person responsible for the payment mast he given, and the exact conditions be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apj/ rehension is nought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be prominently inserted, with detailed particulars, at a cost of 15s. per portrait, and of Is. 6d. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, including the expense o) engraving on wood. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer- of not less rankthan Superintendent; and, if the name of such person be required to be inserted, and no warrant is in lorce against him, the requisition must be . signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property mu t be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of al> persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The fore*, which tauses particulars concerning delinquents or sto'en property to be insert'd in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, ou their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number oj the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases, the officer signing the request for insertion of any announcement, will be wholly responsible for any p. oceedings ivhich may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded . so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only, be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by cheque, crossed " Drummond cfc Co ," Post Office Order payable at Parliament- st., Postal Order, or in Stamps. 13. In the case of Marines not embarked who have deserted from the head quarters of their Divisions, the Army Descriptive Return, as specified in the 4th Schedule of the Army Act, 1881, should be used. In Districts outside the Metropolitan Districts to which Naval Descriptive Returns are not supplied, the Army Form should be used in all cases.
