All announcements for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications upon them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons ivhose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is ought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be prominently inserted, with detailed particulars, at a cost of 1 os. per portrait, and of Is. 6'/. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, including the expense of engraving on wood. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officerof no' iess rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person be required to be inserted, and no warrant is in orce against, him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immedia'e detiuly, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property mu~ t be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of aV persons to be apprehended or of stolen proper ty bear a number, and are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. Theforcewhich causes particulars concerning delinquents or sto'en property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehends on or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, refer ting to the number oj the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases, the officer signing the request for insertion of any announcement, will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be receivtd not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only, be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Xtw Scotland Yard, by cheque, crossed " Drummond Js Co.," Post Office Order payable at Parliament- st., Postal Order, or in Stamps. 13. MISSING From her home in Sunderland since 2nd September, 1896, A young- lady named BERTHA POSGATE, age 21 years, about 5 ft. 5 or 6 in. high, pale complexion, brown hair ( brushed back), blue eyes, first joint of forefinger of right hand stiff. Dressed fawn- coloured cloth jacket, open front, a light bluish- grey crepon blouse, with white collar, dark- brown skirt, blue and white straw sailor hat, lacing up shoes, and black stockings. She is in a despondent state of mind, and it is feared some ill may have befallen her. Her friends are very anxious as to her safety, and would like inquiries made.
