All announcement* for insertion in the Toi- ICE GAZETTE, and all communications upon them should be addressed to TUB KDITOB OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND VABD, LONDOX, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought icill be inserted in one issue of the TOLTCE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all eases where a reward is offered the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen properly, will be prominently inserted, with detailed particulars, at a cost of 15* per portrait, and of 7s. Gd. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, including the expense tf engraving on wood. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person be required to be inserted, and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analnnnus thereto. REGULATIONS. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and at • alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property tobe inserted i » the POLICB GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases, the officer signing the request for insertion of any announcement, nil be wholly responsible for any proceedings wiiih ma y result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noonon Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not laterthau Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only, be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. A builder's foreman ; native of Woodbury, Devon. Was at one time employed at Sileby Workhouse, Yorkshire. Left Exeter, 24th Oct., by 10.35 a. m. train, London and South- Western Railway, for Waterloo. May be accompanied by a woman, age about 2- 3, tall and slight. Warrant issued. Crompton, DORSETSHIRE. 12.— Sherborne ( County).— For stealing, 7tli inst., a pearl necklet, single row with brilliants, 73 pearls, weight 266 grains, single- stone snap ( valuable)— MARIE REINHARDT, supposed to bo a German, age about 28, height 5 ft. 8 in., full figure, complexion sallow, round face, hair and eyes ( full) dark ; dress, fawn- coloured tweed dress, long light ulster with cape, black hat, brown boots, lined chamois leather. A lady's maid. Supposed arrived at Waterloo about 5 p. m., 7th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Simpson, Sherborno. ESSEX. 13.— Colchester ( County).— For falsifying a book, belonging to his emp'oyers, at Harwich, during September anel October last — JOHN TAYLOR, age about 45, height about 5 ft. 2 in., hair and moustache dark brown ( turning grey), eyes dark, rather round - shouldered ; dress ( sup- posed) long black overcoat, dark trousers, black hard felt hat. Native of Norwich. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Had with him two hand- bags and a portmanteau. A native of Cornwall. Left Swansea, 30th September last, stating he was goirig to Cardiff and Weston- super- Mare. Lacy, Chatham. 25.— Maidstone ( County). — For obtaining 15 geese by false pretences— GEORGE ALGERNON HOLLANDS, of 71, St. Mary's- ioid, Hastings, age about 34, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., cjmplexion fresh, hair and moustache brown, smart appearance ; dress, light brown Newmarket overcoat, brown trousers, light brown felt hat, usually wears brown boots. May be accompanied by a woman, with whom he lived, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, full face, hair light brown, wearing a full length brown jacket, and brown felt hat; had with her a girl, age about 4. LANCASHIRE. 26.— Chorley ( County).— For attempting to obtain goods by false pretences, 14th inst.— A WOMAN, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 2 in., com- plexion fresh, full face, hair dark brown; dress, black dress, short black jacket, f cape ( black cloth one side, grey far the other), imitation sealskin hat and black veil, carries a black satchel. She orders j ickets, bonnets, & 3., and, under pretence of hiving forgotten her purse, endeavours Jto take the goods with her, giving a false name and address, and promising to forward the msfcey. A farm labourer, and travels with threshing machines; native of Bars- cough Bridge, near Ormfkirk. LINCOLNSHIRE. i0— Boston ( County).— For obtaining a large quantity of potatoes by false pretences— WILLIAM FOSTER, alias BLAND, ago 33, height o ft. 4 in., complexion fresh, hair and rconstache dirk brown, eyes hazel, several toil scars on forehead, 3 small moles left cheek; dress ( supposedj, blue overcoa', velvet collar, dark check lining, grey sui', vest very low in front, light tie, brown leggings, black hard hat, light lace boots. A joiner, has been represen'- ine himself as a commission agent and potato sales- man ; native of Holbeck, near Leeds. His wife and family reside at Hull. Warrant is3ued. Information to Supt. Crawford, Bjston. 31.— Spalding ( County). — For embezzlirg £ 15 from the National Provincial Bank — TOM RICHARD ELLSUM, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, complexion fresh, hair, moustache and side whiskers brown, eyes dark, works his shoulders up and down when walking, rather hollow hick, turns his feet out, usually weirs a brown knicker- bocker suit. A bank clerk; native of SpaldiDg. Absconded 20ih ult.; may endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued.
