Description of THOMAS STANLEY ( name supposed to be fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 21st day ef August, 1893, in the barony of Lower Dunluce, parish of Ballywillan, and town of Portrush, unlawfully and by fraud and false pretences obtnired from one Thomas Murray the sum of £ 5 sterling, and on the 22nd day of August, 1893, in the town of Portrush, aforesaid, from one James Appleby Mercer, one watch, value £ 1 15s.; one gold ring, value £ 2 10s.; one gold keeper ring, value lis.; and fine gold pencil, value £ 2:— Slightly stooped, small dark moustache, turned up at ends, staring dark eves, aquiline nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a gray cloth cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; represented himself ( believed falsely) as a lieutenant in the army. Description of JOHN PLUNKETT, native of 92, Phibsborough- road, Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1893, at Armagh, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, obtained one sovereign by false pretences from Josiah Peel:— Rather awkward gait, turns out his toej when walking, left eye weak, may be wearing a bandage on it, small gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow Complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, black moustache and hair; wore a black hard hat, black coat, gray tweed trowsers, black vest; groom and stableman ; is on tramp through the country looking for employment. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged withhaving, on the 19th or 20th September, lb93, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Kilmore, stolen a cow, the pro- perty of George Cartwright, of Dromora Great:— 1. Slight moustache, sandy complexion, 6 feet high ; wore a cap; supposed to be a tramp or cattle drover. 2. John Howard, P. P. : — 1. Shaves all face except rather heavy fair moustache; lump under left ear; dark gray eyes, rather thick nose, fresh ruddy complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 2J inches high, about 48 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old faded tweed suit, carries a straw plaited tool- bag ( carpenter's bass) ; is a rivetter. 2. Dark gray eyes, regular nose, fair freckled com- plexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 5- A- inches high, about 18 years of age ; wore a brown cap, old brown tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, old brown tweed vest, carries a plaited straw tool- bag ( carpenter's bass), is a locksmith. 3. Fresh cut over left eyebrow, black heavy bushy eyebrows meeting over nose, shaves all face except sandy moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 34 years of age; wore a hard black hat, and old suit of gray tweed ; is a ballad- singer, and an ex- soldier. R." on right arm; cross and Union Jack, rose and leaves, crossed anchors and heart; crossed United States flags and sunburst, with letters " U. Description of JOHN JOHNSTON, alias JOHN SIMPSON, supposed native of county Cavan. who stands charged with having, on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th August, 1893, in the barony of Callan, parish of Callan, obtained food and lodging, value 12s., from Catherine Molloy, Callan, by falsely representing him- self to be an Ex- Head Constable of the R. I. C.:— Active appearance, blue eyes, long nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair, beard, and whiskers ; wore a hard black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a land steward and emergencyman. Description of MICHAEL KENNEDY, native of Limerick city, who is at present in custody charged with having, on the morning of 17th August, 1893, in the barony of Glanarought, parish of Kenmare, bur- glariously entered the house of John Downing, Pound- lane, Kenmare, and stolen therefrom the following articles of clothing, a cashmere skirt and woollen shaw^ value £ 2 :— Has lost left hand from elbow, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin worn face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair hair, shaves all his face except moustache; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest much worn; is a tramp. This man is at present on remand at Tralee gaol. He may have committed similar offences elsewhere, or may have been previously con- victed. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd August, 1893, at Leixlip, in the barony of North Salt, parish of Leixlip, stolen a cow, the property of George Soden, which has since been recovered :— Blue or gray eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 f set 5 or 6 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark htir, turning gray, face clean shaved; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; looks like a butler. The ass and cart has been discovered and restored to owner :— Dark complexion, modium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair, small black side whiskers and moustache, chin shaved; wore a brown plaid tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp labourer. Description of MICHAEL DUNNE, alias LARKIN, native of Rathfeston, Geashill, King's co., who stands charged on remand with having, on the 29th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Coolestown, parish of \ Monasteroris, unlawfully stolen from the open dwelling of Eugene O'Brien, a dust coat, value for about 30s. : Lame slightly in left leg; old scar- mark on forehead ; middle finger of left hand flat, result of an accident; dark brown eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long oval face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair turned almost 1 gray; wore a black ( boatman's) cap, short black coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest; is an Army Reserve man, and has appearance of a labourer. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Sump, consists of :— Moleskin vest, dark gray tweed tunic, trowsers uncertain ( had taken off Reformatory trow- sers), Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,615. He is likely to go to Dublin. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 24 th July, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County :— JOHN MURRAY, No. 1,538, 16 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, medium make, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage ; formerly belonged to 5 Gloucester- place, North, Dublin; parents reside at same place; stepfather, Joseph Carpenter; abscess mark on right arm. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, dark tweed tunic, Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,538. May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likely eventually to go to Dublin. Description of ELLEN CULHANE, native of Foxhall, who, on the 3rd September, 1893, in the barony of Upper Connelloe, parish of Colemanswell, left her home, and has not since been heard of. It is feared she may have met- with foul play:— Gray eyes, Roman nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, lair hair, cut short; wore a black cord jacket, dark brown skirt, light laced boots, brown shawl with stripes, which she wears over her head; is a farmer's daughter. Description of KATE BURKE, native of Caher- norry, who, on 22nd July, 1893, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Cahernorry, left her home, and has not since been heard of:— Dark eyes, thin nose, yellow complexion, rather thin face, slight make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, fair thin hair; wore a light plaid dress, red knitted shawl, elastic side boots ; is a servant. Believed to have a fresh cut- war*. on forehead, . leans forward when walking ; gray eyes, rt? g*| ar nose, very sallow complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a snuff- colour tweed cap, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Down- looking appearance, small dark drooping moustache, slightly bow- legged; blue or gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age, dark hair; wore a black slouched hat, blue" serge coat, bright tweed trowsers, and blue serge vest; is a labourer. Description of GEORGE KIRWAN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of July, 1893, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, threatened to shoot Jeremiah Noonan :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age; dark hair turning gray ; deficient the third finger of the right hand ; wore a dark tweed coat and vest. Descriptions of a MAN and WOMAN, names and native placcs unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 14th or morning of 15th September, 1893, in the barony of Granard, parish of Granard, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Charles Mackin, of Ballykilchrist, and sold them at the fair of Oldcastle, county Meutit: 1. Good looking, well dressed, shaves all the face, except small brown moustache, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair ; wore a round black felt hat, dark tweed coat, brownish trowsers, and dark vest. 2. Tall, thin careworn face, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, about 30 years of age; wore a remarkably red plaid shawl on head, old elastic boots. Warrant issued and in the hands of Police, Granard. Description of cattle :— 1. A white heifer, years old, yellow spots on neck, value for £ 4. 2. RYAN ( name supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1893, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, obtained food andlodging, value £ 1 13*. 8d., from Catherine Durnen, Drogheda, by fraud and false pretences:— Good looking, wore dark moustache, shaved face, spoke with English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore a brown hat, dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. He is accompanied by a man and two women. They have been advertising a Gladstone bag and dresses in the Dublin papers for sale, and obtained money from several persons by that means under false pretences. Their descriptions are annexed. Warrant for A. J. Ryan's arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Drogheda. Description of Mr. RYAN :— Very delicate looking, spoke with an English accent, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a dark round hat and dark coat. Description of Mrs. RYAN:— Very stout, good looking, spoke with an English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 28 years of age, brown hair ; wore a light tweed dress. Description of Mrs. RYAN :— Very slight delicate appearance, spoke with an English accent, fair com- plexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 feet 1 inch high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wdre a strijicilblue dress. * It is probable these people may be committing similar offences elsewhere. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 5th October, 1892, and went to reside at Belfast. He left his residence on or about 20th ulto., without reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to convict JAMES MAGUIRE, otherwise HUGH PRIM, 695, convicted at Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 26th November, 1886, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servi- tude :— 50 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born at Dublin ; resided before conviction at Dublin; gray hair, hazel eyes, sandy eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; cut- marks on forehead, wart on chin, right side of nose, corner of right eye, and on right cheek. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on 10th July, and left on 14th July, for Bristol. He has not reported himself at the latter, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Description of pawn tickets found on Michael Dunne, alias Larkin, arrested on 21st August, 1893, on a charge of having stolen a dust coat from the open dwelling of Eugene O'Brien, in the barony of Coolestown, parish of Monasteroris, on 29th July, 1893:— 1. For suit and carpet bag pawned at South Rich- mond- street, Dublin, April, 1893. 2. For busks, pawned at Clarendon- street, Dublin, 4th July, 1893. 3. For w. e. boots, pawned at Cuffe- street, Dublin, 5th July, 1893. 4. For vest and blue serge pants, pawned at Athlone, 6th August, 1893. 5. For boots, pawned in Tullamore, 21st August, 1893. A strap, bearing name P. Maguire, Mullingar, and fitting into boots at No. 5, was also found on him.
