AH Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been iasmad, and by the name of the person in whose hiteds it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this mature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or giv « the number it bears, as without this (• formation the mistake cannot be rectified. Description of GIRVAN or GREER, native place unknown ( says he belongs to Ballynure, county Antrim, which is untrue), who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, obtained by false representations the sum of 16s. from William M'Cooke, of Ballymena, who keeps a lodging- house:— Leans forward when walking, cut- mark on bridge of nose, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low dark felt hat and dark gray suit; says he is a hay- buyer and bus- driver ; has the appearance of a cattle- dealer ; has been traced as tar as Castledawson, county London- derry. Description of MARY RYAN ( mother's name Mary Guiney), native of Lisnashershane, who, on the lst June, 1893, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, left her place of abode and has not since been heard of, and it is feared may have met with foul play :— Blind in left eye, and has a scum on eye- ball, and is almost deaf and dumb, dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair; wore a black dress, brown shawl, with which she always covered her face; is a servant. Description of MICHAEL GEOGHEGAN ( mother's surname Geogliegan), native of Oughterard, who stands charged with having, between the 15th September, 1892, and the 29th June, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, embezzled several moneys, the property of the Oughterard Board of Guardians :— Speaks hurriedly, smooth shaved, with slight fair moustache, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair; is a butcher and poor rate collector. Descriptions of PATRICK FOLON and MICHAEL FLAHERTY, natives of Teeranea, Car- raroe, who stand charged with having, on the 30th July, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kal- lanin, seriously assaulted Peter Mealia, of Teeranea, Gorumna Island, thereby placing his life in danger. 1. Broad mouth, thick lips, no beard, dark eyes, long nose, pale complexion, broad full face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a flannel suit ( bawneens) ; is a small farmer and fisher- man. 2. Active appearance, slight beard, never shaved, gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 23 years cf age, fair hair, has carbuncles on face ; wore a flannel suit ( bawneens); is a small farmer and fisherman. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd August, 1893, at Leixlip, in the barony of North Salt, parish of Leixlip, stolen a cow, the property of George Soden, which has since been recovered '— Blue or gray eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, turning gray, face clean shaved ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; looks like a butler. Description of JOHN JOSEPH BROOKES, alias GEORGE LESTON, native of Newtownbarry, who stands charged with having, on the 13th July, 1893, in the barony of Narragh and Reban West, parish of St. Michael's, stolen an ass and cart, the property of one George Bailey, of Best. The ass and cart has been discovered and restored to owner :— Dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair, small black side whiskers and moustache, chin shaved; wore a brown plaid tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp labourer. Description of TWO TRAMPS, names and residences unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Offaly East, parish of Walterstown, robbed one Martin Byrne of £ 9 15 s. :— 1. Dark complexion, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, short black beard; wore a dark cap, glazed peak, gray coat and trowsers; is a tramp - 2. Sandy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair, bow legged; wore a soft hat, dark short coat, moleskin trowsers ; is a tramp. Description of JOHN JOHNSTON, alias JOHN SIMPSON, supposed native of county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th August, 1893, in the barony of Callan, parish of Callan, obtained food and lodging, value 12s., from Catherine Molloy, Callan, by falsely representing him- self to be an Ex- Head Constable of the R. I. C.:—• Active appearance, blue eyes, long nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair, beard, and whiskers; wore a hard black hat1, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a land steward and emergencynian. ( 19597 c.— 6972.) £ tnc'* Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the Ist August, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County : JAMES CARTY, No. 1,615, 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, ordinary npse, regular mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin; mother resides at 11, Ash- street, Dublin. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of :— Moleskin Vest, dark gray tweed tunic, trowsers uncertain ( had taken off Reformatory trow- sers), Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,615. He is likely to go to Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 3rd August, 1893. May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likely eventually to go to Dublin. Limerick, Description of GEORGE KIRWAN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of July, 1893, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, threatened to shoot Jeremiah Noonan :— Gray or blue eyes, regular no3e, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age; dark hair turning gray ; deficient the third finger of the right hand ; wore a dark tweed coat and vest. Is usually employed in caring evicted tenants' farms ; is an Army Pensioner and Caretaker. A warrant for his arrest has been issued. 30th Juy, 1983. Description of JOSEPH BURNS, native of Rathkeal, county Limerick, and a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the morning of the 31st July, 1893,- in the barony of Shrule, parish of Noughavale, maliciously burned five cocks of hay, the property of Thomas Dowdall, Ballymahon, value for about £ 8, and may have com- mitted offences elsewhere:— 1. Tender gray eyes, regular nose, sallow completion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet high, abou. 5r of age, dark hair turning gray; low jerry hat, dark colour, and dark tweed coat; is a tramp tailor. He is now on remand in Carrick- on- Shannon. 2. Dark complexion, medium make, 30 years of age, dark hair; is a tramp. RYAN ( name supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1893, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, obtained food andlodging, value £ 1 13f. 8d., from Catherine Durnen, Drogheda, by fraud and false pretences:— Good looking, wore dark moustache, shaved face, spoke with English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore a brown hat, dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. He is accompanied by a man and two women. They have been advertising a Gladstone bag and dresses in the Dublin papers for sale, and obtained money from several persons by that means tinder false pretences. Their descriptions are annexed. Warrant for A. J. Ryan's arrest is in- the hands of the District Inspector at Drogheda. Description of Mr. RYAN :— Very delicate looking, spoke with an English accent, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a dark round hat and dark coat. Description of Mrs. RYAN:— Very stout, good looking, spoke with an English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion,' full face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 inches higlty. about 28 years of age, brown hair ; wore a light tweed dress.> Description of Mrs. RYAn :— Very slight delicate appearance, spoke with an English accent, fair com- plexion, thin face, very slight make, .5 feet 1 inch high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a striped blue dress. Description of THOMAS MOORE, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Modreeny, embezzled the sum of £ 7 from his employer, Goodhand Pattison:— Old scar on finger of right hand, good looking, brown eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, black hair; wore a one- peaked cap, black coat, brown trowsers with a light stripe; is a servant, was 9 months in army. Tyrone Description of JOHN O'HARA, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1893, at Ballintrain, in the barony of East Omagh, parish of Termonmagurk, seriously assaulted Francis Donnelly, by striking him with a spade on the top of the head, thereby endangering his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexibn, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer and rag dealer. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, alias GATELY, native of Creggs, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1893, in the barony of Farbill, parish of Killucan, obtained the sum of six pounds sterling from Cornelius Hannan, Esq., j. r., by false pretences ; and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued ;— Walks with a heavy long step, careworn appearance, brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, pale complexion, round tace, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, gray hair; was a commercial traveller and shop- keeper. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow:— RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, doth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and he is now dressed in a long dark coat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 8th June, 1893. Particulars relative to convict WILLIAM M'MASTER, alias ARMSTRONG, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at the Quarter Sessions, on 1st October, 1* 89, for burglary, after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 19 years of age on conviction, single, is a porter; born at Portadown; resided before con- viction at Hollywood, county Down; his friends reside at Belfast; light brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, prominent nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high; ulcer marks on neck, cut on back of right hand, and between eyebrows. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 7th July, 1893, and went to reside at Belfast. He left residence on 1st instant without reporting to the Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present where- abouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 24th August, 1893. ( 572 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JAMES MAGUIRE, otherwise HUGH PRIM, 695, convicted at Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 26th November, 1886, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servi- tude:— 50 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born at Dublin; resided before conviction at Dublin; gray hair, hazel eyes, sandy eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, pale complexion,, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high; cut- marks on forehead, wart on chin, right side of nose, corner of right eye, and on right cheek. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on 10th July, and left on 14th July, for Bristol. He has not reported himself at the latter, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 21st August, 1893. ( 571 H. r.) Particulars relative to convict PATRICK CON- NOR, c. 339, convicted at Naas, county Kildare, at the Summer Assizes, on 15th July, 1890, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years'penal servitude :— 34 years of age, single, is a dealer, born in Dublin, resided before conviction in Dublin where his friends reside ; light brown hair, blue eyes, light brown eye- brows, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; cut on left temple, mole on right cheek, PC, MK, NM, crown, harp, shamrock on right forearm, This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 24th December, 1891, and went to reside at 25, Denmark- st., Dublin. He has recently left his residence without reporting to the Police, and his present wherea, bouts is unknown. Particulars relative to convict DAVID HAMIL- TON, c. 297, convicted at Belfast, at Quarter Sessions, on 4th December, 1888, for supplying false information to the Registrar of Deaths, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' police supervision :— 34 years of age, single, is a blocker; born at Temple- patrick, county Antrim; resided before conviction in Belfast where his friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, small nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 2 inches high; cut on top of head and near left eye, mole back of right hand, varicose veins in left leg, ruptured left side, getting bald. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 5th October, 1892, and went to reside at Belfast. He left his residence on or about 20th ulto., without reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present, whereabouts is unknown. Description of PATRICK DALY, who was con- victed of larceny at Monaghan Assizes, on 9th March, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant in consequence of the licence granted to him on 24th November, 1892, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked :— He is 51 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, fresh oomplexion, gray eyes, cut mark on front of forehead, left side, lost one front tooth, upper jaw, kick mark on left shin, is a labourer, and was born at Tipperary. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, c. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny — two cases— and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude :— 50 years of age, single, is a stonecutter, born in Drumcoolan, Enniskillen, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where his friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet 111 inches high ; right leg ulcerated at shin, bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th I November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to ten years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen, where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 19th May, 1893, and stated he was going to Sligo. He was arrested on same date at Athlone on a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown.
